I was hyped before this, but now I'm afraid that my brain will get mushed too. Does it hurt?

It's kinda mostly numb all over. There isn't any pain, but there isn't really much feeling either. Just a sense of confusion and being lost. It's kinda like if you were driving a car, and going to a destination, and then all of a sudden you look down and notice there's no steering wheel. Then you notice the car isn't moving. Then you notice that you're actually in the middle of the ocean, and a shark jumps out and leaps over you before crashing back into the sea. You blink and you find that you're on your own bed. But it wasn't a dream.

That's how I would describe the experience!

The second coming of Raphxenon I guess.

Good thing I couldn't care less about what they do with the story anymore and am in it just for the music and the promise of pretty mecha fights.

Go Bones!

Not surprised about what just happened - I predicted most of the shit anyway - but I'm sort of left empty after that episode. I have no theories as of now. Just a buttload of questions.

Numb is probably the best descriptor for me right now. All the hype from
seeing the shadow of adult Renton in the OP
was gradually sapped away by the episode until it ended and all I was thinking was "what the hell is going on here?"

Hopefully they've got this all planned out.

well... that was something. I honestly have no idea what is going on right now. Im guessing things will make some sort of sense in hindsight.

Get Inside Her!
So the new OP song is totally a homage to the original E7 OP, right? Days? I'm not goin crazy? It steals like half the melody from it right?

It pretty much is.

Alright so here are my theory notes. These will be contradictory cause I actually can't think of one continuous theory and these are just random thoughts. Caution, SPOILER ALERT.
- Secrets are not actually enemies are they exist to prevent the Quartz to be taken elsewhere.
- Naru eventually will become the Command Cluster
- Truth says, "What's inside of you that hates me so" makes me think that Quartz up an IFO
- To follow up the previous statement, Quartz are some sort of Coralian thing and they are at war.
- I interpretted Eureka's last lines as two things. For refreshers she says "Naru, please help Ao. He's on a mission to destroy the Scub Coral
1.) She wants Naru to help Ao destroy the Scub since it's growing much faster than intended or w/e dumb reason
2.) She wants him to stop Ao from destroying the Scub since it'll mess up the timeline or whatnot.
- Eureka has two kids and one of them is probably Elena.
- The broken down Nirvash is probably from the ending.
- The Preview indicates that the next episode will feature a declaration of war against the Scub Coral
- Secrets will end up being eaten by the Scub Coral and will end up being transformed in to Archetypes which will later be used as LFOs.
- The Spec V Nirvash will most likely result after a fusion between the Mark I and Spec IV.
- Naru is an artificial Coralian out to destroy mankind rather than communicate with it.
- The entire plot of E7 is going to end up retconned probably. It already did for me. LOLOLOL.

Technically, Spec V (as they choose to call it for some reason) would be the movie universe version of the Spec 3! I didn't think it would come to the point that the distinction would even be necessary to bring up but alas, they really are going to go there. It's actually good that they aren't playing it safe (it seems) with this series though, my personal feelings of the execution so far notwithstanding.

Edit: New Yoshida piece

Episode 14

Okay, so this episode completely blew away my expectations of what is happening. Eureka's kid being a
girl, not a boy,
is the most glaring mind fuck that episode had, but there was others.

- What's Naru's connection with Eureka?
- Is Naru some sort of new Coralian?
- Who is Eureka's daughter? It's got to be either Naru or Elena. Given Elena knows Eureka and is pissed at her, she's the leading candidate in my eyes.
- Why are the Secrets going after the Mark I?
- Why did the Nivash decided to stay in the AO world and is seemingly helping Naru?

There are other questions that this episode brought forward, but these are the immediate ones that came to mind for me.

Episode 14 Spoiler:

Episode was nice, pretty amazing scenes and I like the most of them. But it was mindfuck too.

If Ao has to destroy the Scub Coral according to Eureka, does he not kill himself with that? Because Eureka was created by the Scub Coral to communicate with the human, if the scub coral did not exist, she would not exist either and she would never give birth to Ao. At the end thought is stupid, another parallel universe would be created at the point when Ao destroys the Scub Coral. Edit.: Maybe Eureka pledges Naru to stop him.

Now about the Eureka's daughter. wtf. Can it be a elder sister to Ao? But why did she say in the flashback that Renton is fighting for their child.(Singular) Or is it Ao's sister but something happened? Is it maybe Naru? No seriously. People had theories and Bones just destroyed them all with this little line.

And not sure what I should think about Renton's look. Cannot wait to see him from the front.

Where is that supported by?

It's not supported by anything. I told you their theories and such. The only link that makes me think she is is that she is very similar to Ao as mentioned in one episode. That's it. I have no grounds. Also, your quote of me "It pretty much is" isn't meant to be read with the bulleted listed. just saying.

I like how nobody even comments on
her new ears
what was up with that?

Dumb hospital crap probably.

Quick thought: (Episode 14 spoilers)

Maybe the two Eurekas represent each universe: The first Eureka is from the Original series and the second Eureka is from the non-existent movie. Since they showed the Nirvash from the movie, there has to be a connection too.

The problem with that is...

Eureka with head gem is a TV Eureka exclusive. The way she describes Renton and what she says is also pretty exclusive to the relationship in the TV series. The Gekko-go being dated 12005 AD also confirms that it is the TV series Gekko-go.

Coralians don't exist in the E7 movie, Renton and Eureka were childhood friends, and it takes place in 2054 AD.

One thing to consider is that we NEVER see lasers coming out of Spec2 when Eureka is piloting it. When it charged at Truth, he did a TON of damage to Spec2 as well. None of that damage is visible when he reveals the Spec2 to Naru at the end. Only when she uses it, do the lasers appear. The Spec2 Naru pilots might be a different one, modified by Truth and based on the movie Spec2, and it might eventually transform into the movie Spec V. Why? I have no fucking idea.

We should also note that the Nirvash who takes Eureka back home is a totally destroyed frame of the RA272 Nirvash, which means either Renton is piloting it and it got really fucked up for some reason in some future event in their world, or that might be Ao piloting it, from some time later in the series. This proves that the "same" type of Nirvash can exist in two places at once.

Yeah, my brain is still filled with fuck.

I want to believe in BONES. I want to believe that they are more competent that a recently released game that dealt with temporal aspects.

I like your insights on the episode. Hopefully, they actually thought this through before deciding to go with it. I still believe they can make this good in the end actually, but we'll see.
The cast has been very lacklustre to me so far however, so it'll be interesting to see how they use
Renton
in all of this. The
skeleton RA272
was really well drawn too Imo; very omnious, but it made me pause for a while since
Eureka mentioned that AOs RA272 looked just like the one that Renton was building. The problem with that is that the one we saw this episode didn't really look like a work in progress as much as it looked like it had gone straight through a meteor shower, into a furnace. so she entered another timeline altogether again, as opposed to going back?

Given that BONES only have 10 episodes left to work with, they better make them count. From the looks of the preview though, it certainly doesn't seem like they'll waste any time with the escalations of things.

where was
renton?
in this ep? I must have missed him

That's no problem. I would be very happy if there were no real connection to the movie. Small spoiler:
If they only borrow the designs, I am okay with it. But please, Bones, use long-hair Eureka too.

Oh, I -do- think there is a connection to the movie, but it's just not obvious yet.
It seems fairly certain at this point that Kyoda intends to use E7AO to tie together the TV series, the movie, and this sequel, all into one. I wonder if he's going to find some dumb way to tie New Order into it too. >_<

Hey all.

I had put AO on hold after Episode seven. Glancing discussion in the anime thread the past few weeks piqued my interest. It's was starting risky trying to avoid spoilers so I caught up to episode thirteen last night. For my reaction thus far I'll quote Mr. Burns.

Mr. Burns said:
Excellent.

Since I'm watching the Funi-stream I'll be a week behind most of you. Keep up with the good work with the walls of blacked out text.

As for stuff up to Episode 13:

It's hard to say at this point whether the AO world is the past Earth or an alternate reality. I'd likely be fine with either direction. As for the time travel route I'll quote Captain Janeway.

Captain Janeway: Time travel. Since my first day on the job as a Starfleet captain I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these godforsaken paradoxes - the future is the past, the past is the future, it all gives me a headache.

Captain Kathryn Janeway: My advice on making sense of temporal paradoxes is simple: don't even try.

I like how the writers of the Voyager flat out told the fans "just roll with it".

Edit: I get the feeling episode 14 will require me to listen to Janeway's advice.

Some interesting non-story spoiler shots from the new OP:

These remind me of a mix between the Devilfish from E7 and the Peacemaker designs from Scrapped Princess...

This show is getting more and more Gundam in the designs, at least where Nirvash is concerned. I kinda dig that they're still staying true to that aim. :)

I am reminded of Gintoki's strawberry milk speech.

Thankfully, despite very similar designs, the mecha from the OP and the Spec V don't appear to be the same:

I'm hoping they don't somehow tie the terrible movie into AO, unless they really, really know what they're doing.
