Eurogamer: Microsoft has hired Jonathan Ross to work on Xbox

it's the brominated vegetable oil, that they can't use in the UK, as I recall. that's what lets them mix oil soluble stuff and water soluble stuff.

as you can see, it's not on the approved additive list in Europe:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brominated_vegetable_oil

there has been a push to remove it from Pepsi Co products, and they're taking it out of Gatorade, but they won't take it out of Mountain Dew, because it isn't remotely the same without it.

the talk of sugar is a smoke screen. they sell Mountain Dew Throwback here in the states made with real sugar, and it tastes like Mountain Dew, but better. the UK version still sucks.

Thanks for that info., if I'd known they were putting bromine in the stuff then yeah, definitely makes sense why it's banned!

Seems you just can't trust companies to be upfront about this stuff...

I'm wondering how many more titles are planned like Quantum Break where the TV and interactive game are hand-in-hand. I have to admit, Quantum Break sounds fun in theory, but even that announced and teased game seemed really far off from an actual complete product...

He doesn't have a stutter?

I don't know much about TV or what types of people watch ITV these days, but didn't he just melt into irrelevance after the whole Manuel from Fawlty Towers ordeal?

Wheeling him out for Xbox One promo is going to be like Iceland wheeling out Kerry Katona

Erm not really.

Iirc it was a huge money deal. He's very much still A List.

This is very bad news ..really

MS intentions are crystal clear now.

What? Do you know how marketing works? Nintendo done the same with Ric Mayle with N64 and those were some of the best Nintendo adverts aired.

This type of response is nonsense.

I thought he was a Nintendo fan boy!?....

I'm sure everyone at Microsoft and Sony appreciates Nintendo Games. Who doesn't?

Rik Mayall.

Good deal for Microsoft, lets just say he's not being hired because of his 'game' expertise.

He's a well known TV personality with his own show on a channel that permits advertisements and survives solely because of them. He does have an interest in games and Microsoft will probably try and get a few demonstrated on his shiow. Prizes to competitions will probably be Xbox Ones etc.

If his show were on the BBC, this would not be permitted, but seeing as it's on ITV and they would do anything for money, it'll happen.

Wise move if you ask me. Perfect circumstances. This isn't about games, its about TV.

Tbh if Microsoft was intelligent what they would do is get the streaming iptv rights for the states and Asia for any sort of football eg champions league and premier league. Which people could watch for free on xbox live gold. Boom loads of people buying xbox ones and subscribing.

I'd love for him to sign off on some geeky documentaries. His Steve Dikto one was awesome.

Given the core demographic I'd have picked the wife to promote the thing.

Boobs detected
: Googling commenced.
: Name found, re-googling.
: Search enhanced, added "tits" to end of search string
: Ogling commenced.
: Confirmed, still like boobs.

So sad, so true :( oh boobs, I love you.

Ross's quotes so far on the matter effectively say he's being used to promote Movies, TV and games.

Microsoft aren't steering away from their path.

pff, he's a Big Bang Theory level nerd

I remember him saying his favorite Mario game is Paper Mario, and if he meant thousand year door then that's some pretty respectable taste.

I think he's gone down to angry birds tier now though, but I can imagine I'd lose my touch with video games once I'm 40/50 too.
