Europe get barebacked again! PSN Download Speeds set to be dramatically reduced due to COVID-19

Yes, gaming does not drain bandwidth as much as Netflix and porn...

Still pretty much expect everything to scale back a bit however until Verizon manages to buyout a bunch of foreclosed homes to build more infrastructure... which will probably happen...

Verizon Porter

This really is Death Stranding... fucking kojima

Either Kojima-Sensei fluked this shit or he's really The One.

Oh no! This should take precedence over people dying in the fucking streets!

Seriously, who gives a rats arse that some fucking loser in his basement is downloading Gran Turismo 28 at 45mbps instead of 80mbps.

This is bullshit, they do this while ISP's in Europe are more than eager to give away free bandwidth to keep their customers entertained. Somehow that's not a problem. Besides you download a game only once, you don't constantly hog the bandwidth like when watching 4K Netflix.

And what the fuck do they mean by delayed downloads? Forming queues among PSN users?

For what it's worth, ISPs here in Norway said its not a problem, and they can "turn on" much more, double or more, bandwidth in currently disabled lines.

Not sure who asked for this. Sounds like the "internet is a series of tubes" old man put this in motion.

Oh FFS!

These measures are so pointless and only there to appease dumb politicians who think they did something good by their complaints that supposedly it would be too much for the internet. Fuck off geezers.

As if PSN weren't already slow as hell.

Who's dying in the streets, and what are they using all this bandwidth on?

Imo Sony will actually profit from this, because download speed reductions will mean lower operating costs for them. Of course no one's saying anything about slashing PS+ prices.

Anyone else find it odd they announced this on the US blog but not the EU one when it seems like it is Europe specific?

Another reason I think an all digital, streaming or online only future is a very bad idea that I will never embrace. I hope they can eventually sort things out.

Gamers expecting to be treated like first class citizens during a pandemic is laughable. For what? So they can play CoD?

fuck your videogames right now
Does this happen to MS as well ? If not, unacceptable, Sony charges for online and aren't prepared for full load

Nvm apparently this isn't Sony's fault, they are artificially capping psn so that ISPs aren't hammered
But isn't EU internet so much better?

Yeah man not gonna lie some of the post here about game console delays and pushed back release date possibilities is some real unironic gamers rise up shit.

This is absolutely unacceptable. I can't download at reasonable speeds because some mocha frappuccino sucking zoomer asshat needs to get priority to post the 5 millionth Fortnite dance to TikTok? Well I think not, IT'S TIME TO RISE UP!

Even fucking slower? Good thing I also have other platform, because fuck this shit.

PSN content is delivered by Amazon CDN, so not really.

No surprise. Many companies are surely adjusting bandwidth.

Is YT working for you guys well?

For the past 2 days, most videos get an error playback message. But maybe one out of every 4 videos does work.
