The release this week of the PS3 version of ‘Spider-Man 3’ ensures that Activision’s film tie-in continues to hang on to No1 in the All Formats Chart for a third week.

‘Spider-Man 2’ managed 5 weeks at the top of the All Formats Chart when it was released 3 years ago. ‘Spider-Man 3’ is the first All Formats No1 for Activision since another film tie-in, ‘Madagascar’ in August 2005. ‘Spider-Man 3’ now tops both the PS2 and PS3 Charts with the PS3 version accounting for 19% and the PS2 version 49% of all ‘Spider-Man 3’ sales this week. ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ is a non-mover from EA at No2, while Konami’s budget-priced ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ shifts up one place to No3. ‘Cooking Mama’ from 505 Games, now on both DS and Wii, is starting to get a taste for Chart success, up one place to No5. The All Formats Top 10 is well represented with games on Nintendo formats (Wii, DS) with a total of 7 games, compared to 4 for both Sony (PS3, PS2, PSP) and Microsoft (Xbox 360).

It is an above par week for ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07’ which benefits from strong Wii sales, up from No10 to No6, while EA’s ‘FIFA 07’ moves the other way, down from No5 to No7. With the date for Halo 3 now confirmed as 26th September, ‘Crackdown 3’, which contains a free Halo 3 Beta, re-enters the All Formats Top 10, up from No19 to No8. The All Formats Top 10 is rounded off with 2 DS exclusive games – ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ which continues to jump in and out of the Top 10, up from No16 to No9 and ‘Final Fantasy III’ down 3 places to No10.

I agree Full Price is the most meaningfull chart that chart-track releases, but the analysis usually covers the All price chart so I went with that.

The budget chart can take over in the summer though as it is all the reissues and child-oriented movie cash ins that tend to dominate in the UK.

I must admit though - Pony Friends at Full Price bucks this trend and will be rising over the summer in the Full Price chart to match Cooking Mama - and so far it's getting better reviews!

Essentially, you can create and care for customised virtual ponies, keeping an eye on their health, diet, training and exercise routines...
...if you have a daughter who is overwhelmed by the desire to put pink things on mammals, then this is an excellent little package that has plenty more to offer than two halves of a coconut, and comes in at far less than the cost of a saddle.

To be fair though even if it did crash completley out of the charts after the beta. Given the fluctuation it's been having in the charts out of it's presence few games achieve that kind of stability and even fewer for new IP's. So it wouldn't be completely shameful. I wish Vf5 and Resistance was still up there though. I would say motorstorm but I wouldn't want people encouraging the kind o length it had for games to come.

Couldn't knock one without the other really - we're equal opportunities here. :lol Both are outselling Motorstorm (the number 2 PS3 game behind Spiderman3) so it seems that adding value to games is a surefire way of getting them noticed.

And just for the record I like Wii Play's duck hunt simplicity, and enjoyed Crackdown on a friends X360 and would buy it if I had the machine (and no - not just for the beta...).

DS is taking over Ireland and Wii once again performs very well in the UK.

Between the two charts, Wii has seven games and PS3 has four (with its lowest shower being Resistance: FoM). Wii games have extremely good legs, especially in the case of Wii Play (hovering in the middle of the top ten for a while when there's stock) and Sonic and the Secret Rings. Zelda: TP is also just under Motorstorm and it's been out since Wii's launch!

Next week should be better for Wii because Super Mario Strikers Charged can easily pull in some good numbers throughout the UK and Europe especially.

If you are in the UK & want to get a Wii before the summer either go out and pre-order one with the game this week or try your luck on Friday. Nintendo have sent out so many more units than usual this weekend is your best chance!

Expect a sales based press release next monday too - that Nintendo PR guy knows how to get the forums to light up at just the right times - hopefully with some more games anouncements too!
