It looks super nice - I'm more of a small car person due to where I live, but if I had room and lived in a place where I don't have to worry about the size - this would be my dream car. :)

Gorgeous design, but vastly too expensive to compete meaningfully with Tesla. Generally worse electric specs also don’t help.

And does this have the same problems as regular hummers?

We used to having a saying in the banking industry. “If he’s driving a Hummer he’s already got the only loan he can afford.”

It seems sweet, but very costly.

Did he mention anything about self-driving software in the video? I couldn't watch the whole thing.

With over 1000HP and 11,500 ft/lbs torq it can tow 5 ton trailer and your Powerstroke truck. :pie_astonished:
Of course it can. The question is How far on a charge? And at that point over 10,000 lbs it isn’t about power or torque. It’s about weight capacity.

This And the Cyber Truck aren’t made to haul the big boy toys at 20000lbs. They don’t have the wheel base or double axels.

Towing cuts distance by 2/3rds last test I saw with a Model Y.

A diesel pusher getting 10 MPG can get tanks with 150gal capacity. That’s 1500 miles no stopping.

That’s a 4000 mile battery with no towing. Last I checked none of these things have that. The density is not there.

Towing vs time to charge is just not worth it. Factor in price of those batteries and you get the true numbers.

Tech is just not parity in some circumstances.

I remember the first time I drove a dually 20 years ago. Felt like I was invincible. Like I was driving a tank and go right through a brick wall.

Basically. Plus emissions EGR have really stifled these trucks. Luckily I have one that’s deleted.

they are just insane. It would be cool if it was a hybrid but alas we have to skip right to full EV and they just can’t cut it yet.

Id love a smaller engine Diesel when cruising and to charge the huge battery banks. Then when accelerating or anytime power is needed it uses the EV motors.

basically have a generator and battery banks all rolled into one. Near limitless range.

A full year away and $120k starting tag....
From GM who cant even make reliable combustion vehicles....
(I drive a GM vehicle. It has the same issues of the GM vehicle i had before it.)

I try not to be a Tesla fanboy but everything i see is "competition" in quotations to me.

Honestly I do love it but price, availability date and history of the ones making it all make me wonder why anyone would buy this. To each their own i guess.

On one side, how can you fuck up electrical... Then having driven my 2001.chevy Malibu and my parents 2012 suburban...

It's a gm product and I have low faith on it's long term reliability.

Still cool.

I mean, if we're going for green and economical, wouldn't it make sense to make smaller cars with good mileage so that you have to charge it less?

You're basically swapping petrol for coal at this point and saving less than would you would have done had it just been petrol

Not if you residential solar, which you should if you’re buying a $100k EV.

oh yeah, I forgot some countries have sun for more than 2 weeks a year, making solar power viable.

If only i could harness the power of Grey, over-cast and drizzly rain, i could make Britain a Green super-power!

This looks better than the Cybertruck hands down but Tesla's electric powertrain tech is pretty mature by now.... This thing will have so many problems out the gate.

It’s a Hummer. The older hummers were even more expensive. I’m not sure what people were expecting with pricing. It’s like complaining that an S class is more expensive than a Model 3. This is their halo car. It’s not meant to be their best seller.

Tesla’s dominance isn’t set in stone. There’s a lot of competition out now or coming soon. In Europe, they’re already being outsold by traditional auto makers entering the EV market.

Not really. It's just a saying that implies very big/very large cars are the result of inferiority complexes, where the buyer tries to compensate his shortcomings by having a huge car.

Usually associated with pipi size, for the laughs, but can also be said about short men.

It could also be a product of Brazil's huge disparity of outcome across the classes...
It's almost cultural (and stupid as fuck) that poorer people will drown themselves in debt to buy a car, and, instead of buying popular (and cheaper/functional) models, lots will go the extra "fuck it" and buy stupidly expensive (and larger) cars... they live in precarious conditions, but hey, "I own an expensive car"... it's sad, actually.
Nah, it's a saying just about everywhere. The overcompensating with a big card because you have a small dick.

A think a far less powerful version at 60-70k makes more sense. The price tag just makes no sense outside a novelty vehicle for very specific customers.
And don't forget, that MSRP is without dealer fees. Most of these will leave the lot around $130k
