Ever been recognized by someone famous?

Dwight Howard talked with me on Twitter.
Ron Artest joined the Lakers forums I used to be on and talked with me several times.
The dude from Call of Duty / Infinity Ward follows me on both Instagram and Twitter.
Ben from Christian band Citizen Way talked with me at their concert. We chatted about basketball.

Bethesda Softworks' official twitter account follows me.

I have absolutely no idea why.

Also Andrew WK follows me, too. Again, not sure why. But it's awesome.

I've been recognised by Yo-Yo Ma. Met him backstage a few times after concerts as a kid and I played Cello so maybe that was why.

I've had some really famous pornstars talk to me over Twitter, multiple messages at a time (I was bored, okay?).

I gave Lou Koller from Sick of it All a bit of a fright once.

Sometimes Americans think Scottish people are yelling at them when we're really just talking.

I shook hands with Josefina Montané, a local model

It was like time stopped for a minute

Now I'm imagining a creation of a time machine whenever someone shakes a girl's hand. Is it just her hand that causes time to freeze? Maybe she's the one.

I remember that feeling from my high school days. I didn't know a lot about people back then, it was easy for them to be bigger than they really were.

I had an interaction with AJ Lee about an Easter egg in Arkham City over Twitter. This was back when she had like 20k followers and not 1.8 mil though.

I got a lot of props from Classified, the guys from Zion I and O'shea Jackson Jr after having a cypher on three separate occasions.

Edit: That painting is amazing.

Classy.

Awesome painting OP, if I was Paul I'd have my team license it. Seriously and I'm not even a fan.

I came all the way from Germany for a taping of Conan, even made a sign, I got seated front row and he hugged me and andy and conan included me in their monologue. good times.

Jessica Chobot spilled the coffee she had me buy for her on a coffee-run that year E3 was in Santa Monica. She neither said thank you nor offered to pay.

That was just blood rushing to your penis (or vagina).

I got blocked on twitter by Tony Hawk, does that count?

I'd love to hear the story behind this.

Also, Louis CK once jerked off in front of me at a coke party at Ricky Gervais' house.

Edit: but to be fair I think it's just because he mistook me for his niece.

Wait, what?

Hello Frankie! Remember 2007 Times Square? :p

Yep. My sister in law got drunk and climbed on a mongoose and felt up the actor. Then I got involved in a halo beef with kid cudi and a NY Jet by predicting the precise margin of victory on Guardian.

Nope. But I got an email reply from Greg Edmonson not long ago.

Thank you so much for your very kind words. I loved doing “Uncharted” but now it is time for a new adventure. I try to just keep moving and not look back too much. But I take great encouragment from fellow travelers such as yourself.

Thank you!

Not really, but I've had famous people/public figures reply to my comments on Facebook and Twitter. From the top of my head:

Amanda Palmer (rock star)
Alexis Ohanian (Reddit co-founder)
Steve Jurvetson (investor in Tesla, SpaceX, friend of Elon Musk, and an awesome guy)

Closest thing to OP was other non-famous photographers whom I admire compliment my photos. That always feels great.

But perhaps my biggest influence on the world was being the spark that led to the creation of the famous Neil deGrass Tyson "we got a badass over here" meme. When the original BigThink video was uploaded on YouTube, I made comment on it saying "I need a gif from xx:xx to xx:xx", and that ended up being the most upvotted replied to comment, and people started making the gif and sending me the URL for it. And a meme was born.

I think the closest has been one time me and a bunch of people from the /co/ board at 4chan had the chance to join Pen Ward in an artistic multi stream.

Lauren Faust faved a couple of dumb my little pony pics i made when the show premiered (it was both versions of the Robot unicorn atack unicorn in the MLP FiM style).

I also got called "Damn sissy*!" by the mexican voice of Homer Simpson on a convention after i told him i wanted his babies, he did it using the Homer voice and it was an actual line from the dub.It was the best thing ever.

*= the actual line is not this, but a mexican slang word that is not quite as PC as "gay" but not quite a slur like "Faggot", it's something in the middle

I shook hands with Tomonubu Itagaki last E3 2014 and I told him, "I'm a huge fan of yours. Ninja Gaiden is my favorite thanks to you." He smiled and said "Yeah!! Yeah!!!"

Nick Pritzker. He knew my name before I met him and introduced himself to me. Had several conversations with him at different times when I bumped into him. Nice guy, down to earth.

Met and played the piano with Fast Eddie.

Worked with Rocky Jones and did some work for his DJ International record label (the main label behind Chicago House music back in the day).

Met Sterling Void and did a remix of one of his tunes. Great great guy.

Thats about it.

A couple years ago, I got followed on Tumblr by a favourite musician of mine, and eventually we wound up Facebook friends. We didn't really communicate much outside of liking eachother's pictures. On his last birthday, I left him a really cute birthday message, and he seemed surprised and touched. I had always wanted to get to know him better, and figured eventually I'd head down to New York and see if he wanted to grab a coffee and hang out. He died unexpectedly about a week ago. I left a sweet message on his wall, and his parents both liked it. I hope he's doing well, wherever he is.

I collect indie kaiju toys and I was interviewed on TV in Tokyo, ended up with a little segment on prime time TV about my collecting and painting toys. They asked me what my favorite was and I mentioned a really rare toy that I haven't been able to find since the odds of being able to buy one when they go on sale are about 1/200. The guy who makes those super rare toys emailed me, said thanks for mentioning his toy, and then sent me a gift package including one of his toys and a bunch of rare swag. And then the next time he put up a toy for sale he made sure I was a winner and got to buy one <3

That sounds really cool man. Do you have any videos or pics of your collection?

Mark Crilley sometimes answer to my comments on youtube, Instagram and facebook but he probably doesn't know i'm the same person, he just answer's fans comments every time he can. He isn't super famous or anything.

I was a cosmetology student at Paul Mitchell after graduating I was hired to become Admissions Leader at the school. I was able to meet John Paul Dejoria and Winn Claybaugh and Mario Tricocci. Those might not be the most recognizable names but trust me. They are a big deal.

Are you David-o?

George Pelecanos and I continue to have a correspondence 2-3 years later after initially working together.
Currently working with Fred Durst (rewriting something he may direct).
Aaron Brooks of the Chicago Bulls would say hi.
Hall of Famer Gary Zimmerman is a family friend.

The woman I'm dating is on The Young and the Restless and gets fan mail.

Crap, I was expecting this to turn into a love story, and then... Sorry to hear that, that's awful.

Among many random encounters with famous people I've seemed to accumulate, the silliest one was when I worked part time in college and had to tell Spike Lee that no, my CVS does not have any Halloween masks in stock.

Bethany Costentino of Best Coast has replied to my twitter loads of times, though Lana Del Rey favourited one of my tweets which was sweet as fuck

My wife was in a group of friends in college that included Death Cab for Cutie. I only met them a couple times because I met her close to graduation. I bumped into Chris Walla years later at the Seattle International Film Festival, and he recognized me by name and said hi. Really genuine guy.
