Ever been recognized by someone famous?

I collect indie kaiju toys and I was interviewed on TV in Tokyo, ended up with a little segment on prime time TV about my collecting and painting toys. They asked me what my favorite was and I mentioned a really rare toy that I haven't been able to find since the odds of being able to buy one when they go on sale are about 1/200. The guy who makes those super rare toys emailed me, said thanks for mentioning his toy, and then sent me a gift package including one of his toys and a bunch of rare swag. And then the next time he put up a toy for sale he made sure I was a winner and got to buy one <3
Do you have a blog or something? I'm interested in seeing these

 • Me having a conversation with Emilia Clarke, on how much I enjoyed her season one nude scene with those 3 baby dragons.
Sounds awkward

Quite of celebs on twitter, or reddit etc replied to me, i think it's awesome they bother to interact with fans this way

Examples, Robert Llewelyn on twitter, Ice - T on Reddit, Defin Townsend on twitter, Dave mustaine on his website chatroom as well as the res of megadeth around 2005-07

I should add with the devin townsend one i was in a convo with on twitter for quite a few replies in a row, he kept tagging my name in when i started an open convo about one of his albums

Etc

i had dinner with lawrence krauss, this was before his rockstar physicist days

stinkles quoted me once, that was pretty rad !

That is amazing, I want see your toys and the TV segment, you must have recorded it right?

Dylan and Cole Sprouse, as well as Selena Gomez have seen me at enough of my friend's parties to know me pretty well

Neil Gaiman and Wil Wheaton have reblogged my tumblr posts... Oprah replied to a letter I wrote to her when I was, like, 5....

nice paintings, OP.

Who knows? Maybe a celebrity has quoted me on GAF. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Closest I think of is David Hayter sending me a DM and "favoriting" my tweet.

Stone Cold Steve Austin tweeted that I was a jackass because I don't drink and former WWE Diva AJ Lee retweeted a picture I took of my Three-A Metal Gear Rex stomping on John Cena and that retweet got retweeted by Konami.

The writer of a young adult series i love knows i was one of the first fan blogs for her series and checks on the blog from time to time. We have also spoken before :D

If anyone is interested its marissa meyer (not to be confused with the yahoo ceo) and she wrote the lunar chronicles.

EDIT: I forgot to mention her publisher also sent me a hoodie of the series.
Haha awesome, I met her as well, super cool lady. She called me cool because I liked sailor moon :)

I've talked to Notch a few times, even bugged him for his Autograph

Talked to John Romero once, he even emailed me a autograph of a originally sketched map for Doom. Then told him I'm from a group of speedrunners.

Not traditionally famous, but Patrick Klepek has two of my fan art pieces hanging on his wall. Always blew me away when I'd see them in the background of his videos.

Worked as a key set PA back in the day in NYC before I moved to Montreal, so quite a few big name celebs might recognize me. Some were great, and some were total pricks. I guess the nice ones would recognize me more. I've never run into any of them since, though.

I've done the same type of work in Montreal when I first moved here as well, so a bunch of French Canadian celebs know me, but I guess that really only applies to people living in Quebec. Most of you won't know any of them.

I almost knocked Elijah Wood over with a tray full of food and he was like "Sorry man"

I delivered a pizza to Keanu Reeves during a screening of Man of Tai Chi and he was like "Thanks man"

My dude Ed Boon (co-creator of Mortal Kombat) read an appreciation thread I made here on GAF and say it was kool on Twitter. Made my day.

One of my favorite comedians. He tweeted something and I replied to it and he thought it was funny and retweeted it and followed me from it.

The last episode of Walking the Room podcast - Greg Behrendt and Dave Anthony
WTR.jpg

Dave posted some vague shit on facebook and I called him on it so he got shitty about it and started this "Fuck Jeremy" thing and 3 months later on this podcast he starts it by mentioning me and trying to get Jenn Kirkman and Wyatt Cenac to say it also but neither did. This meant a lot to me since it was my favorite podcast. Made my entire week hearing it after a shit day at work.

Been favorited on Twitter by famous folks like Kevin Smith, some authors like Joe Hill, low grade celebs, and followed by Edward James Olmos...? Does being recognized for wit and boring humor count? lol

Batman writer Scott Snyder sent me a direct message on Twitter after I shit talked some of his Batman comics and then I felt like a fucking jerk for shit talking his Batman comics.

When Kanye West rapped, "When I park my Range Rover. Slightly scratched your Corolla. OK, I smashed your Corolla.", he was talking about me! Felt pretty weird but awesome at the same time. Of course, it sucks that he smashed my Corolla with his Range Rover...

Anyway. Good job, OP. That's very cool. You could've just made a "Paul McCartney recognized my art!" thread instead of a "Ever been recognized by someone famous?" thread tho ;)

This is absolutely hilarious.

Devin's awesome. He remembered me from a gig he played at a festival (I'd said it was my birthday) the next time I saw him live. He's an absolute gent and extremely appreciative of his fans.

That's pretty awesome OP!

My band got tweeted about by a few "famous" people who have seen us play. I put it in quotes since they weren't famous like yours, people like a dude from Tortoise etc. Kinda famous for a small crowd.

Recently I tweeted a photo from a hairshow that I did that got retweeted by some big names and featured on some huge websites in the hair world. My instagram which has my hair work on is followed by a few famous stylists and a YouTube famous Korean makeup artist... I'm pretty proud but they're hardly Paul McCartney levels lol.

Bob Hall, the "father of the Mazda Miata", knows me on a first name basis, and we also played Forza 4/Horizon together online quite often.

When I was 17 working at Albertsons (grocery store) Ice T and his family would come in for groceries, I would occasionally help him out to his Bentley with his stuff. We talked about Grand Theft Auto for a few minutes once. I also called him "Mr. T" and he laughed and said, "do I got a bunch of chains on?! Hahah!"

A bit of background: My dad is a retired professional wrestler and a reptile enthusiast. And I'm a huge Slayer fan. Many years ago my dad found out a breeder friend knew Kerry King (Slayer guitarist) and tried to get me an autograph but nothing ever came of it.

Cut to 2006 and we are backstage at a Motörhead gig making our way to the stage to watch the current band (Corrosion of Conformity) when Kerry King walks through the door, stops, points at me and says "I owe you an autograph" and just keeps going on his way. It was wonderfully surreal. Later that night I did get my autograph. I also saw Dio bring a life size Reagan from The Excorcist doll backstage to give to Motorhead's guitarist as it was apparently cursed and Dio wanted rid of it. It was a beautiful experience ha.

Holy shit, your father is Jake "The Snake" Roberts?
