Every Revolution Game We Know About
A comprehensive list of titles in development for Nintendo's 'new generation' console.
by Matt Casamassina
February 28, 2006 - It's hard to believe that only a year ago we knew next to nothing about Nintendo's self-described 'new generation' console. Since then, the company has officially pulled back the curtain on its plan for the system, revealed an innovative controller and detailed the basics for an online network and a software download service. We've seen the design of the console and the controller and learned from dozens of development sources that it's a platform whose emphasis isn't on horsepower, but on a new breed of groundbreaking motion-sensitive games.
The Big N has in addition said that it is planning a number of big-name franchises for Revolution. However, as a whole, fans know very little about what titles are really headed to the console and even less about what to expect from some of them. It's with this in mind that we've put together a comprehensive list of the confirmed and rumored software in development for Revolution complete with links to the original announcements and insight direct from our most trusted sources.
Super Mario Revolution
Status: Exclusive
Developer: Nintendo

Sometimes referred to as Mario 128, Super Mario Revolution is the codename for the next true iteration of Nintendo's famous franchise. Nothing about the game is yet known, except that it is in development and considered to be a top priority for Nintendo. Nintendo's official Revolution controller teaser trailer showcased a sequence in which a woman moved the controller up and down to make Mario jump. That being true, it is unlikely that such a simple and untested mechanic would provide the backbone for such a major new project. At this time, we do not believe it will launch with the console later this year.
Legend of Zelda Revolution
Status: Exclusive
Developer: Nintendo
Source: http://cube.ign.com/articles/615/615429p1.html
The next installment in Nintendo's acclaimed Legend of Zelda series. There is still some debate as to whether or not this will be an all new outing or merely a Revolution-compatible version of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which is under development and expected to release later this year for GameCube. Nintendo execs are quick to point out that only Revolution software will work with the free-hand style controller, but that may be a careful choice of words designed only to temporary silence persistent rumors. Regardless, a completely new Zelda adventure designed from the ground up for Nintendo's new generation console is inevitable and very likely already in development.
Battalion Wars Online
Status: Exclusive
Developer: Kuju Entertainment Sources: Insider information; http://cube.ign.com/articles/654/654724p2.html
At E3 2005, Kuju said that it was in positive talks with Nintendo about future games and then alluded to a Revolution sequel. Asked about the omission of a GCN multiplayer mode, the developer responded: "All we can say is, we're very aware of how important multiplayer is for possible future versions of Battalion Wars." Since that time, IGN has been able to validate that the company is underway with a sequel to the franchise for Nintendo's next generation console. It is expected to be online. Further details are unavailable at this time.
