The purple forum. What would GAF be without its jesters
Ahhhh thanks man! I was searching for this for a while the other night and there's just too much shit out there. Couldn't find it. Loved the look of this one.Ex CDPR devs. Keep an eye on it.
Having lived in Japan as a gaijin for most of my adult life , LMTYS, Japanese women are strange. I married one, lol.
There is an overwhealming obsession to be 'cute' and do stupid fucking poses on all pictures. Even in our wedding photos, her and all of her friends are doing these poses and hand gestures and peace signs and stuff. It's omega cringe.
I know you didn't quote me but , yes.so, only RE0, 1, 2 3 are true RE games ?

If they can nail something akin to Alien Resurrection and Isolation in RE9 it could be promising but I foresee very early vulnerability before it becomes a Rambo all guns blazing kind of game. And the way Capcom handles "Stalker" enemies I find to not be very interesting. If anything it serves to pad out an otherwise small section of the game before it's forgotten about.Agreed.
RE4 & 5 are great games but not Resi.
Nu Resi and the remakes are poor imitators of the amazing classic formula.
RE8 is the gaming equivalent of when classic Rock bands re-record their biggest hits for an overproduced Greatest Hits collection.Agreed.

Yesso, only RE0, 1, 2 3 are true RE games ?

Fair, but for me RE is more of about the lore than the game genre, do i prefer survival ? Yes, but if they continue to expand the world, lore and its characters i dont mind other genres.
Keeping brand recognition and changing direction is often used by many businesses... in their case it worked since Re4 is regarded by many as a great game. I personally dont like it, but its irrelevant.Fair, but for me RE is more of about the lore than the game genre, do i prefer survival ? Yes, but if they continue to build the world and lore i dont mind other genres.
Well, my statement would be valid for those too. I think people are just more accepting with those because what RE means has been broadened a long time ago.People are saying this when just looking at it you can tell it's Silent Hill.
Yet RE7&8 couldn't be more removed from the franchise and people say it's a true RE game...
That's a good analogy. I use the cover band one to describe how the new games differ from the old games.RE8 is the gaming equivalent of when classic Rock bands re-record their biggest hits for an overproduced Greatest Hits collection.
I'm over stalker enemies in general. It worked well in classic Resident Evil 2 & 3 because its function was to provide short bursts of tension during exploration, but it never overstayed its welcome. That is not the case in Re7 & Re8. It's made even worse because you're forced to witness canned "cinematic" moments which kill the pacing of the newer games. I just want to be able to explore, kill monsters and solve puzzles with minimal interruptions. Spooky woman throwing me down stairs to move the story forward is not interesting. If they can nail something akin to Alien Resurrection and Isolation in RE9 it could be promising but I foresee very early vulnerability before it becomes a Rambo all guns blazing kind of game. Unironically their best Stalker enemy is still Nemesis from 3 but that's because they used trickery to load him into almost any room at a moment's notice on an RNG system which you simply cannot replicate with their current engine and design of their games whereas with low poly assets and fixed angles you could do this.
I'd argue that mob density and the amount of dynamic events was at it's strongest in RE3.
The closest they've ever gotten with Modern RE is RE2R with Mr. X who functions more like Nemesis whereas Nemesis in RE3R functions more like a Mr. X. And a lot of these are all self contained in a general area.
They do this multiple times in RE7 with the family members and they do it again with Alcina in RE8 to the point that it's no longer interesting. That's why you get fatigue from "oh another Stalker enemy".
It would be more interesting if it's something you can't fight like Isolation's Alien.
But hmm I think we should reserve judgment for Gamescom RE9 footage. That will likely determine what kind of game it will be.
It seems a lot more focused on exploring the whole town and small buildings within it rather than SH2's focus on several big "dungeons". Actual level design seems fairly complex and they mention a lot of secrets and nooks and crannies. There's also some sort of shrine worlds you can enter that seem to be set in the distant past and have different rules.I aint watching for spoiler reasons but for those that did, hows the level design? Any preview talking about it? Aside from From Software, Japanese devs are trash at level design.
It's why I like the older games and a couple great indie games that emulate the same thing. It let's you explore and make decisions at your own pace. Current RE is by and large an on rails action movie and leaves little room for exploration or finding pieces of lore that when put together tells you a story and it's up to you to put everything together it isn't spelled out for you.I just want to be able to explore, kill monsters and solve puzzles with minimal interruptions. Spooky woman throwing me down stairs to move the story forward is not interesting.
Based on the previews, if anything, it appears that it may have too much depth in combat, given the game's context. Focus mode, perfect dodge/parry, stagger, charged attacks, stamina etc.I think the only thing I'm kind of concerned about is the combat, but to be fair it's not like Silent Hill has ever had riveting combat and I'm a huge fan of the series. So I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm just really hoping this lands strong.
I'm glad they didnt make the sh2 remake some shit like calisto protocolI think the only thing I'm kind of concerned about is the combat, but to be fair it's not like Silent Hill has ever had riveting combat and I'm a huge fan of the series. Yep. I think this is going to be the dominant criticism for the game, come launch. Personally, IF it's fun, I don't care if she is a schoolgirl or if there is ludo-narrative dissonance with cutscenes. It's a videogame. I get shot in the head and bandage my arm to fix it. I shoot rocket launchers at enemies in gameplay and they won't die, but a single gun shot will finish them in a cutscene. I kill giant monsters by swinging at their legs. It just comes with the territory if you want to have fun engaging with combat. The whole thing makes me roll my eyes!So according to GamesRadar the combat feels over engineered, overbaked. I guess this means it gives the player too much freedom with attacking? She even compared a boss fight to Dark Souls.

This is the actress of the game, why do they that with their cheeks? lol

Ummmmm....But this schoolgirl beating these supernatural horror creatures with pipes and small knives looks a bit silly IMO, and takes away from the horror theme

i disagree, in fact among Silent Hill series, the 3rd game is the most terrifying.Never played SH3.
If it's the same in 3 that's equally silly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yep same. Really happy Konami are coming back in full force. This and MGS Delta has me giddly.Hyped, on media blackout, already knew this would be special. September is stacked to high heaven, 2025 has been delivering all the goods![]()
No commentary b-roll in Japanese:
I love Japan and Japanese but kawaii is something I can't stand. Power to you man.Having lived in Japan as a gaijin for most of my adult life , LMTYS, Japanese women are strange. I married one, lol.

That combat looks dreadful, graphics look subpar but the artstyle looks great tho
Yes, and combat is mostly optional in SH3, you play as a probably far more badass protagonist and you have guns. Also, Silent Hill f will have even more combat than SH2R. And I'm not even talking about the numbers of enemies being different in each difficult level in the original 2 and 3. SH3 isn't the same case than this game.Ummmmm....
