Evil Within System & Hard Disk Requirements (PC/Consoles), strongly suggests 4GB VRAM

Do effects get affected that much by VRAM? A fair number of console games have had effects toned down or removed where as I have been able to push them on my 2GB card.

All the fuss over Shadows of Mordor have not really transpired for me. I am running a mix of high/ultra (including DOF and tessellation) with high textures at 60fps for the most part.

I am aware that going further into the future will incur more issues.

Well higher quality assets and effects will lead to a bigger framebuffer. It remains to be seen exactly how much memory is needed to match consoles, but I would be very surprised if 2GB is enough.

Yeah, unless a shit port your 760 has with some margin the power to drive "effects" compared to a PS4, and also in many cases it has the power to drive textures not quite "fitting" the VRAM "requirements" and still run at good framerates if the game is fairly optimized. And yup; Mordor-gate turned out to be absolutely nothing in the big picture, just like many of us predicted.

These threads are hilarious. I wonder which game will be next to be revealed as requiring bonkers specs, only for them to inevitably turn out to be nonsense?

Well given the COD: Ghost hysterics last year I'm all in on Advanced Warfare causing pandemonium. That or Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity.
