EVO 2012 Thread 2 Because one thread wasnt enough to hold all the hype and the salt

I can't decide if I enjoyed KOF or Marvel more this year. SSF4:AE was not really that exciting; great to watch a fantastic player go on a hot streak, but unlike Mad KOF he didn't have anyone on his level to slam it against in a sick grand final. Everyone else in top 8 seemed a little off their game, maybe just due to being last in the day and everything running so late. Wish one of them would have been "on" like Infiltration was tonight so it wouldn't have ended that way, but I'm glad to see Infiltration get his due at least. There were no fraudulent champions at EVO 2012; every one of them was really a master of their game and showed what the highest level of play can look like. No way to complain about that.

The big difference between what we saw in Marvel and in Street Fighter was execution. Filipino Champ was able to win because his opponents made crucial execution errors time and time again, whereas Infiltration won almost entirely on having almost flawless execution. The relatively sloppy play in the Marvel games was what gave them their hype, and the good play in SF4 was what made it seem boring.

That's just how it is sometimes. Hopefully by this time next year more Marvel players will have a better understanding of the game and be more in control in pressure moments. It scares me to think about how good players Combofiend and JWong will be once they find a team they like and develop a solid game plan around their teams.

I said it that KOF finals won't be topped. That was the highlight of the night, one of these things that goes down in the history of the FGC.

EVO needs to rethink their schedule, too many players, too many games, can't run all finals in one day. And instead of just top 8 they could do top 16.

Nobody wants to watch one sided matches, and that's exactly what happened in AE. Besides that the champion, Infiltration, steam rolled everybody in a way that we've never seen in the modern era of EVO(2009 and up). It's like Justin back in the old MVC2 days when nobody could beat him. Last year was great, but this year was very disappointing.

Yep that made AE really boring but Infiltration was on another level i don't think anyone could have done anything to stop him.

I don't see SC V anywhere there but I thought it was pretty exciting.

I have no idea how to play that game, but just rooting for Pokemon dude to take it all was great.

EVO was a lot of fun, just like last year. Don't know how much better 720p was over 480p, but I don't feel bad about giving up $12 bucks for that kind of entertainment. There was never a fun banter moment that matched the Aris/Kayo combo from last year, and SF4's finals were anticlimatic like a mothafucka, but overall it was great. I took secret joy in watching FChamp crush dreams :D

Hell yeah US placed higher than Japan

Hell yeah, Son.

Good shit to U.S. of A.

Had Triforce's stream up for a second. Had to turn it off when dude started ranting some of the most ignorant shit I've heard in quite some time.

Marvel this year was so hype. My girlfriend and I really got into it; and she doesn't normally enjoy these things. We enjoyed the drama caused by the missed opportunities in the game.

I think FChamp deserved to win. He had solid teams and capitalised most of his opportunities. He made a lot of stupid decisions though (like when he keeps calling the Doom assist and getting happy birthday'd). M

I was disappointed Justin didn't get past ChrisG. I can't believe he was too stubborn to give his Spencer team a shot. He beat ChrisG with it at CEO so I don't see why he can't just give it a go.

AE top 8 was mostly boring. Infiltration was amazing though. I can't believe how many Raging Demons he pulled off. I'm glad he won AE and SxT.

KoF13 > ST = UMvC3 >> MK9 = SCIV > VF5 >>>>>> SFIV >>> SFxT

KoF was on another level, and I've never seen it played before.

This Triforce stream is ridiculous.

I can just tell you, watching this from my TV at 720p was glorious. GLORIOUS! I would have paid $19.99, it was ever so silky smooth.

Thanks man.

Despite differences between some of you (Pelicano fans), it was fun!

I'll be back next year!

Glad to hear it man, so awesome to see players do it for the love of the game and not for competition.

I really need to get into fighting games. Smash I was pretty great at (not competitive level) and I could hold my own in Soul Calibur 3, but I didn't have a fight stick (for Cali at least). After pretty much quitting FPSs I think I'll join the fighting game community starting with DoA 5 and the next Smash. Can't believe what I've been missing out on with the EVO streams. Watched last two years, so so great.

So cheers to you man for putting your all out there.
