Does anyone actually enjoy not being able to select your class? I understand promoting queue times with preference among the hunters. But if you want to play the monster, you should be put in as the fucking monster. You shouldn't have to keep leaving games in order to get the role you want that is VERY different from the others.
I've gotten the monster almost every time from the find game menu when I put him as my first pick. If you're just coming out of a game where you played as monster and are still in the same lobby, then obviously you shouldn't expect to get it again if someone else changes their first choice to that role. The game will allow other players to play as monster if they're competing with you for the role, you can't expect to hog it the entire time.
Pretty awesome "Alpha" test. First the PS4 version is delayed, then I spend the whole time trying to join any game, unsuccessfully mind you.
DELETED from hard drive!
One out of five times, fresh lobby, monster first preference.
Well playing with others is now possible on PS4, played 3 matches and no problems, for some reason the sound quality was pretty bad... weird.
im done till the release. Got up to level 24 all monster. Definitely in for the full game. A couple tweaks I think they should make:
Goliath:
- Change rock throw so that holding the button lets him hold the rock. Limit mobility while holding (no jumping or using other abilities).
- Fire breath should have knockback.
Kraken:
- Mines and aftermath cannot be used in air.
- In air ranged attack should use flight stamina so that flying and bombarding forever isnt allowed.

Finding matches when you're grouped is impossible. How the hell did they fuck that up?
Literally the worst public alpha ever.
So I guess the ps4 version doesn't work.....
Or am I just supposed to keep searching for a game for a couple hours?
I got to lvl 17 in like one day, not sure how people aren't finding games.
Well, I guess this is an example of why public alpha/beta tests are a good idea. Imagine if the game launched like this.
I was thinking about this today, and while I can concede that matchmaking is hard to do, I don't understand why it's not a mostly solved problem by now. We've had working versions of match making in games for over a decade. Why aren't there industry best practices for how to do it? In addition, since match making is mostly server side (I assume), the code to do it is running on PCs and doesn't even have to change when consoles change.Programming is hard. And annoying.
Just had another strange glitch, apparently the monster was invisible and eventually the match just ended saying we killed it. Not sure what caused that but it was very strange.
Post game map showed it basically standing on top of us and following us around which explains why birds were just flying up right next to us. I guess it couldn't attack us either. Very, very odd bug.
But these aren't the kinds of bugs an alpha/beta should be finding. You have to expect that players will actually be able to play your game. I'd expect that alphas/betas would be for things like balance testing, finding map bugs, graphical glitches... Basically annoying bugs that are hard to find.
Admittedly stress testing is part of that, which if problems arise can prevent the game from being played, but Evolve seems to be having problems at all times in the day. If the problem was stress related, you'd expect the issues to go away at night when fewer players were on.

In Turtle Rock's case, why couldn't they mostly use whatever match making code they were using for Left 4 Dead in Evolve. They should also also have a really good estimate on how much server and network hardware capacity they need to get it to work.
could only play 2 matches the entire time the alpha was avaliable, had no earthly Idea what to do in either of them.
