Examples of strong and capable women in media.

Strong, capable women were much better when they were strong, capable characters.

Now you can see through the fuckery like 'They Live' glasses.

Edit- Might as well throw up an addition to the thread.

Former unapologetic terrorist freedom fighter who could be your greatest ally, or worst enemy. Went from bragging about slaughtering Cardies to helping their own liberation from the Dominion. Picture-perfect example of strength without abandoning the feminine nature that defines women.

Alita's movie does such a disservice to the character. What once was a story about a girl growing up and getting disenchanted with the world became a fairy tale about love in Cameron's script.
Cool visual effects tho.

I feel like most of the examples here are from '' typical media ''.
They're basically just male action hero characters but the roles given to women.

Bayonetta comes to mind to me, she's more uniquely strong in a more female sense.
Tifa comes to mind too.

Ripley is an exception too in that she's more motherly, she could've worked as a male character too but I think she works better as a woman.

I hated how clean everyone and everything looked, the love interest and his friends looked like models.
Totally different than in the Manga and it kinda diminished the love story a little imo.
It felt less like actual love and more like Alita just being horny and the '' love at first sight '' trope ( which is just being horny ).
In the Manga he was dirty and pretty ugly, he actually looked like he lived in a scrapyard.

Dude, Yugo it's a piece of shit in the manga. The whole point of that arc is Alita learning how ugly the world is and that no matter how good she is and tries to change it, some things and people are just that way.
Yugo's death was pathetic and tragic in the manga, not even because he dies but because how it diminishes everything Alita does. The next arc is suppose to be Alita transitioning from teen to young adult, there is nothing lost in the movie for Alita to go into an identity crisis.

The major, not only does she fight in her birthday suit. But shes a total fucking bad ass. Legit one of my favorite characters ever

Ac: Odyssey is one of my favorite games of the last generation. And kassandra is easily up there along side ezio, and bayak as one of the best protagonists they’ve ever written. Her performance is top notch too.

Jill Valentine, particularly her re3make variation, also rules

Nausicaa, from Hayao Miyazaki's graphic novel masterpiece. The anime film doesn't do the story justice.(Up there with original Battle Angel Alita, Berserk, Akira, and Hellsing mangas )

Joke aside , Korean drama has alot of strong and smart women as protagonist . A couple I can think of from some of my favourite series

Director Kang Kwon-Joo (Voice S1~S4)

Prosecutor Eun-Soo (Partner for Justice S1~S2)

Detective Cha Seo Hyun (Signal)

These women are portrayed as very bright and smart character , survived from vicious serial killers and never back down from criminals or corrupted higher ups .

All the main female characters of Game of Thrones. At least until season 6 that is where I am right know, I've heard that the series turns to shit from season 7 and becomes terrible in season 8, so I don't know if the characters will become terrible.

Fare thee well

I remember when the new ghostbusters came out, and all the fans were mad because of it being a cheap reboot while a lot of defenders claimed it was just some kind of anti-women sentiment from haters.

But what is funny is around the same time, the movie Annihilation came out. It had four strong female leads in a fascinating cosmic horror film. No one gave it its due, and no one complained either. It was just underappreciated and forgotten. Sad.

I am convinced that female country artists are the most badass people on the face of the planet.

Just imagine being such an alcoholic loser that your wife writes a song about how much of a loser you are, and it becomes a hit on the country charts. Well that's exactly what Loretta Lynn did, and it kicks a lot of ass.
