I remember when the new ghostbusters came out, and all the fans were mad because of it being a cheap reboot while a lot of defenders claimed it was just some kind of anti-women sentiment from haters.

But what is funny is around the same time, the movie Annihilation came out. It had four strong female leads in a fascinating cosmic horror film. No one gave it its due, and no one complained either. It was just underappreciated and forgotten. Sad.
That was one weird and interesting movie. I do agree that it is underappreciated and forgotten.

The drinker has possible answers why that is.

I thought the "science chicks" in Annihilation were pretty dumb, personally.

My gold standard for smart, capable, but believable science women is, other than the previously mentioned Maj Sam Carter from Stargate, is Rhonda LeBeck (Finn carter) in Tremors, of course that film is a virtually flawless monster flick.

Sorry for mobile screenshot lol I'm in a hurry, i don't know her name but this girl makes long rap videos on traditional cooking recipes for Japanese tv, it's great lol

Ripley is from the 80s man.

Alien came out in 79 and Alien 3 / Resurrection were 90's... soooo...

Aliens is def the best of them all though.

On topic:

All the OPs picks, plus I'll add Geena Davis from Cutthroat Island, Sharon Stone in Quick and the Dead, Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, Tank Girl, The Bride, Wonder Woman, LeeLoo Dallas, are some examples IMO.

Animated - Legend of Korra for sure, PowerPuff Girls (the GOATs), She-Ra, Princess Allura from Voltron.

Can't believe I forgot Starbuck. Such a bad ass. I also like her in Another Life even though the show has its issues.

Hell yeah! I didn't think anyone remembered that film/comic.

I don't give a fuck what anyone says, this movie is a masterpiece, I love it

So underrated. Great movie. Arguably Snyder's best alongside 300 and Sin City.
