I can’t bring myself to buy a PS. It’s not even because of Sony. I think they are a wonderful company. It’s the insuffarable PlayStation fanboy. Still a 7/10 game, but it's appreciated. If they have their own box, with day 1 releases still. If they then release on ps5 after 3-6 months, will that be enough profits and sales. They could technically have the best of both worlds here.

I really think they might go a Steambox route or 3D0 model with different manufacturers. But unlike 3D0, Microsoft would have gamepass and PS5/PC/Switch sales to offset manufactoring costs. Interesting approach.

Yep. This news, IF TRUE, will simply mean more revenue coming in for Microsoft. They’re a multi trillion dollar company; they’re not really losing much of anything if they do this. I liken it to Sony releasing their games as exclusives first, then slowly but surely porting them to PC.

Well, remember that Sony will take a 30% cut of that revenue, so it's a big boost for Sony as well. They are also killing incentive to buy an Xbox, which is necessary to feed GP subs. They are reducing incentive to sub to GP as well. So although yes, they are going to make more money, they are also feeding the competition money, and, at the same time, undermining their console and GP sales. Rumors suggest there was serious disagreement amongst the higher-ups about this shift, and I'm not surprised.

I don’t think 800 will be a thing but 600 will go unchallenged…with no real reason to discount to often. Possibly 100 dollar AAA games too, based on the traditional model of AAA games sell hardware.


And there won’t be any of this “ speak with our wallets” fighting talk…. Because there will be no alternative. You buy a Playstation or a PC. Or a Nintendo if you don’t care about high end graphics.
