F1 2011 |OT| Not bad for a number 2 game

It worked for Deus Ex:HR without consequence, but I can't say anything for certain.

Oh and the VPN has to be running all the time while steam is online so I just open steam with the VPN to unlock the game, then use steam in offline mode until it releases in my region.

I caved and got it from banned site. I always buy from steam but cheaper price won this time, oh and maybe get it a day earlier too.

I genuinely cant remember the last time i was looking forward to a game so much.
A couple of years a go i would have been counting down the days to Gears of War. Im really not bothered about that now, bring on the F1 goodness!

Having skipped on F1 2010, i foresee a lot of time being lost to this!

My XBL Tag is in the OP, if anyone wants to add me, please do. My friends list is usually full of CoD and Fifa. I imagine not many will be playing F1.

Anything later than 5:30 - 6:00pm and I couldn't make most races. It would definitely clash with plans etc.

I know it's not ideal for Yanks/Aussies, but it worked well enough last year. I'd be inclined to say keep it the same, personally. It's unfortunate that it means early mornings/very late nights for some, but since it was okay last year I think it will work again. I completely understand if people don't want to wake up that early, but eh. It seems like the best time for Europeans and Americans who made the up the majority of the league last year. It really is a numbers thing.

If people feel really, really passionate about it and want the time changed then it can be, but I'm not sure how many Brits would be able to take part then. I love the league, but I'm not going to pick it over a night out with mates :p

I'm fine with the start time. In fact, it's a perfect start time for me - then again, I'm in Europe so it should be.

About the league: what format did you use online? P1 / P2 / Q1 / Q2 / Q3 / Race? Or did you shorten it?

1 qualifying session of 15 minutes and then straight into the race was the only option last year.

I think it's all we need, to be honest, even if more is available this year.

Lets see how many people turn up in a few weeks just before the league starts, then we can decide on how to play the timings etc.

EDIT: No practice online. We can do that in our own time. Straight to 20min quali then race.

Exactly :p (that's when I'm usually out with mine, too... rarely get home before 3am on a Sunday)

Should wait and see what the numbers are like... there may be enough interest in another league with a time more suitable for those who have a social life *and* live in the world's best continent.

Sure we can practice by ourselves, but wouldn't it be nice to start the server say 30 minutes early and let those that want to log on early do so? Or perhaps I don't really understand how the servers for F1 works... :)

There's enough crumbly goodness to go around baby don't worry. Besides, there's no social life to be had in my awful little town so 3am works out all right for me.

If the car performance option is set to 'equal' then yes, otherwise the cars will be in 'speed order'.

IIRC in F1 2010 the Red Bull was the quickest car and the HRT was the slowest car.

You have the choice to set them up as 2011 relative performance, or for them all to be equal. At least, those were the choices in the previous game.

I won't be able to attend as Ark's GT5 league starts at 9PM.

Neither will I. :p But the Virgin was my favourite in 2010 and it'll be my car of choice online in 2011, but I was a bit worried that they'd be lacking KERS even with equal performance, because I really like the idea of KERS in a gaming situation.

Ah fair enough! I'm losing track of who is interested or not. It was much easier last year with so few interested, haha.

But yeah you'll be fine. Every car is basically Red Bull with a different skin online.

I just ordered this game, I had no interest in it until I read this thread and suddenly I really want it. Are the 16 + 8 AI races in the console versions too?

Also how will we get to choose our cars?

Will it be randomised, first come first serve or based on time trial in Australia?

If it's first come first serve, Kobayashi - Sauber for me. :)

What? Clearly my rants wore you out and you tuned out. I ranted constantly about this. DX 11 loads like 10 times faster. 3 seconds vs 30 (Maybe it's an exaggeration, but it doesn't feel like it). One of the many reason it was so frustrating that Codemasters can't/won't address the DX11 bug with their engine.

I shelved 2010 today, now I wait.

Been playing Dirt 3 to get my racing fix, man the AI is sooooooo good. I got a lot of wheel to wheel action, they were good to re watch in replays!

Well, I may be actually getting a life in future and...I may be very uncertain for playing at all, I'm actually worried.

Still, I will do my best to turn up and whatever time it is, I'll see what I can do.

Got hooked into the escort life eh? Oh Stop It I've been down that road. I know it's glamorous and the parties are great, but you'll end up spending every dollar you make on jewelry and skintight pants.
