Fable Delayed to 2026

It honestly feels like it is faster to count the Xbox Games Studios games that do not have major development issues than to count the ones that do.

Yet, they released a video along with the announcement.
Yeah, like 30 seconds of pre-alpha gameplay and the only reason they did this is because of the delay and not to lose faith with fans. Clearly they have been struggling to develop this game. Hope I'm proven wrong, but we have seen this play out multiple times with MS games.

God I just can't believe what the industry has devolved into. The lack of competence and management is staggering. Comparing MS today to MS of the X360 and even Xbox One era is night and day. What has happened to this company when they still have Halo and Gears franchises but nobody gaf about them. If the games aren't being delayed then they're being filled with woke garbage, terrible writing, performance issues etc

Sony isn't much better lately with their mismanagement. It has just devolved so much.

I've relied on Japan this gen for some still great game experiences but if you've been paying attention they're starting to go down the woke path too and Japanese devs are also following the "accessibility" trend, aka let's make our game extremely easy with no challenge anymore so we can attract and largest audience possible. Seen that happening with quite a few franchises like MH Wilds, Dragons Dogma, Mario Wonder, Bayonetta 3, Yakuza series, and Final Fantasy 16. All those recent entries were the easiest in the series too. Woke elements and censorship too.

But back to MS, shutting down Tango Gameworks, releasing slop like Starfield, Vowed and Redfall. Blowing the easy layup they had with Hellblade 2. Forcing CrossPlay on console gamers in their multiplayer games. Ughh ...rough times these are!

The West doesn't know how to make videogames anymore, barring a few exceptions like BG3.

Maybe it’s to put in a better looking main character. Wishful thinking I know, but I really don’t have much hope for this game to begin with. I’m just glad it’s not the forza horizon team making this at playground games. Wouldn’t want the next in the series being held up by this shit.

Phil Spencer: “From a PR standpoint it would be really easy for me to put a trailer on screen, but then I know the game is not coming for another two and half or three years, so I didn't want to do that."

Gamers and ManaByte ManaByte were mocking Sony because they had trailers 2 years before the games came out. All the while ignoring ms who was the more guilty party. Phil spencer tried to win internet cred with his fanboys telling them ms won’t have trailers until games were coming out within the year. Little did they know, delays after delays.

Thats fine. Playing and jumping between Avowed Stalker 2 Indiana Jones and Starfield right now and loving all of them. MS Studio teams are cooking 🧑‍🍳 (no corrections necessary im aware Stalker 2 is not first party and i know who the individual devs are of all aforementioned games and aware they’re not specifically MS themselves just owned by them just wanted to say that to avoid some snarky little info warrior correcting me)

I just miss good Fable so god damn much. As much as I hate a delay if it ends up being good, I won't mind. If it's crap on the other hand, I'll be pissed.

I honestly never understood the huge love for Fable.
They were incredibly good games back in the day on the 360, the british humour was top notch, the world was fantastic and story great, i loved them tbf, they were easy light hearted little gems, this new one looks great except for that awful bog beast protagonist, they should spend that extra time completely reworking "it" into a she

First one is a small cult classic, i think people just desperately want a bigger, better fable 1.

Gameplay wasn't even that good but it had charm for days.
yeah it wasn't this huge Gear of War/Halo hit, i think it did well but it was decent enough game that kept me entertained all the way through to completion

The game is looking wonderful already and plenty to play, for me it's more than fine! There so many games in Game Pass now and more coming soon. And I started Avowed thinking it was like The Outer Worlds. My mistake, it's much bigger, it's huge, and also much better. I am loving!

The game had some unique features that no ther game had, the social\fame aspect was more developed than any other rpg.

Molyneaux partially ruined the game because he over-promised the world and beyond pre-launch.

lol yeah if i remember correctly he went fucking overboard on what the game can do, so typical of the dickhead, basically the digital equivalent of the snake oil salesman

After Halo Infinite, Redfall, Hellblade II, Starfield, and Avowed does anyone care about MS published games anymore?
Except for Redfall which is a merely ok game, the rest are great. Also Pentiment, Grounded, Age of Empires, Psychonauts, CoDBlops 6 - better than most publishers.

We knew rumors before this event that Playground was staffing up a second office and was recruiting for a new Fable. However, it was known at the time that the proect was very early and if i remember right the same rumors said they didn't have much more than a logo and test work at that point. (The Fable production has never been been treated like Perfect Dark where MS execs have Tommy Finaggled up posts saying, "Oh no, no disaster, none at all.... in fact, why, i just played it yesterday and it's fantastic - yeah, that's the ticket!"

Playground is a legit studio. I just think they bit off more than they can chew here. Similar to The Initiative who also needed to bring in an external studio to help them complete their game. Microsoft has no business being in gaming anymore.

Everybody brings in external studios to help the build games, we just usually don't hear about it. Check the credits list for Certain Affinity or Sumo Digital and you'll see a ton of alley-oop work on AAA games.

You just heard about this one because it's weird that a publisher's internal studio, which reminds me of https://odishabytes.com/the-revival-of-ancient-games-in-india-will-aviators-give-way/ got the co-dev contact rather than an independent. (Also, it got publicized as part o fthe debacle with The Initiative where all their creative heads left but they still get to say they brought on Crystal Dynamics to "help". Sorry if im bagging on PD, but that's the project that should be getting the negativity in this thread, Fable just got announced too early, which happens in a console announcement cycle; that second trailer also putb the heat on, which is kind of a shame they showed it so early when it clearly was moee tech demo than gameplay showcase.)
Well it is kinda sad. In my opinion Fable is one of the series that i would like to be continiued
