Face-Off: Need for Speed: Most Wanted on Wii U

Criterion pretty much flipped a switch that turned on the higher res PC textures in the Wii U version. It was that simple. They could have done that in the PS360 versions if they were able to maintain a decent framerate but evidently they weren't.

That is clearly not the case, only some of the textures are the high res ones.

Just as I suspected, game's basically the PC version at 720P/30FPS. Good stuff.

No, it is clearly worse than the PC version, Shadows are low res like the 360 and PS3 and alpha buffers are also low res.

Did anyone read the article?

simple double ram of 360 on similar albeit more modern hardware and you get these differences, poor wiiu when ps4/720 come out with 8 times the ram....

Clearly worse than the PC version and clearly better than the others (minus 2 less players in multi).

the most significant difference compare to PC version is the low res shadow map IMO, any implication to the hardware?

A few lower res textures here and there. Lower res alpha textures. Improved environmental lighting schema. Some gains, some losses.

Of course the PC version runs 1080P/60 on mid range rigs so in the end it's clearly superior. But then my PC gets used for a lot of other tasks that require a regular monitor. I love off TV play so the Wii U version gets the nod in my household. I don't regret it.

Did they fix the frame rate issues? There was a thread on GAF with people with beefy PCs that couldn't get it to run at a decent frame rate. I agree of course that PC is still better looking than the Wii U version.

That was mostly folks with SLI/CF set ups. It's been patched but last I checked there were still a few people with issues.

PC better be superior given the cost/design philosophy difference between a semi modern PC and a Wii U. Be a rip if it wasn't.
