Don't mind the ticker but my news feed seems cluttered as hell now.

Though I do like how they changed around what it looks like when you're tagged in multiple photos. Looks pretty clean I think.

So we're going to have giant pop ups now?
Who knows, I don't want to read those comments again just a bunch of employees saying how awesome the ticker is and how awesome they are for doing it, sickening

I don't mind the ticker. I don't like where it's placed.

Also haha:

Is it to hard to just have a news feed which put things in chronological order? Like it used to?

I can scroll through things myself.

How the hell does Facebook know what a 'top story' is anyway?

This is great, when someone gets tagged in 225 pictures in a new album.....each and every tag gets its own slot in the news ticker.

Lols.

"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"
**scroll**
"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"
"Bob was tagged"

The more I look at the feed, the less I understand it.

Also, I'm pretty sure "top story" is strongly based on how much you view a person's profile (not necessarily how much you interact with the person). Silly feature either way.

People keep complaining about Facebook changing all the time... however, I can't really imagine Google+ can be that much better in that regards, as it's still in beta, and Google is always changing stuff all the time, in all of their products. Heck, look at how often Chrome gets new features.

Algorithms baby. Facebook knows you better than you know it. Don't believe me? Check out the list options go to close friends and look at who it suggests.

The only thing I've noticed is that sometimes the algorithm lags behind if you've stopped stalking/commenting/etc abruptly. So i was seeing a girl for a month or so, so she was all over my top stories until a few weeks ago. I don't look at or comment on her shit anymore but I still get her shit at the top regardless.

That's my issue. I don't like Google+. I want Facebook to stop trying to be Google+ and evolve in their own direction.

Yeah, Facebook kinda sucks in terms of reminding you of old crushes who rejected you but are still friends with you on Facebook.

Ok, WTF now. I just refreshed the page and now I get:

Recent Stories
Top Stories From the Last 2 Hours
Recent Stories
From Earlier Today

Why is Recent Stories in there twice?

The first set are the top recent stories that may or may not have been posted in the last 2 hours. The second set of recent stories aren't as important but they are also recent. The Top Stories From the Last 2 Hours for sure happened within the last 2 hours, and they're pretty much the top stories. From Earlier Today means it's probably not as top of a story as Top Stories, and happened earlier than the second set of recent stories, but it's presented in a seemingly random, non-chronological order

Quite a few of the changes that Facebook has undergone do end up alright. It just surprises me that their changes are consistently rolled out unusable and half-assed.

QFT.

Also, I sorta like the new design. Seems sleeker to me. Allows me to rely on my homepage much more, with additions like posting "Happy Birthday!" right from the homepage, and posting from the news feed. Things seem more fluid to me.

Usability nightmare.

Oh, people are just now getting this crap? The update hit me a week or so ago. I don't really mind the ticker, but I really don't like the way they split the feed up. The top stories make no sense and aren't based of time, I just want to sort by recent like I used to, it just skips to "from earlier" and has shit from 5+ hours ago with 10 minutes ago randomly in it.

The Ticker is awesome, I don't know how anyone on Facebook can dislike it.
Subscribe is very interesting as well, my uncle already used it.

But I have to get used to the new News Feed and Smart Lists. I don't like, that it has made default lists for work etc.

Really?

So you like an utterly useless update that tells you useless shit about others and you don't like useful lists that actually help improve the experience?

Ok.

I don't have the ticker (used to). I recommend everyone use this.

The Ticker is ok, I'm not worried about that. Although it's really sketchy since when you scroll down the page it stays in place while covering the other parts of that sidebar. Really messy and weird web page behavior.

My main problem is the new feed and how shitty it is. There's no way to have your feed in chronological order. I really wonder wtf is going on at Facebook right now.

I don't need Smart Lists, when all I have on my Facebook is a hundred of family members, and I don't have anything to hide to any of them. And I want to see what all my family members are up to, so yes, I like the Ticker.

I don't have shitty friends.

It's tedious, but if you click edit next to smart lists and then click the little pencil beside all of your networks, you can set each of them to always be hidden. That way it'll disappear from your sidebar and not give you the numbers.

And neither do I?

Here's what my fb looks like:

I chose to keep the liked pages updates because I find them pretty neat.

Does someone know how I get rid of that hideous ticker? And why am I suddenly seeing ads again?

NDxMI.jpg

edit: TOP STORIES FROM THE LAST 15 MINUTES, really facebook?

I've only just had the list thing which I find useful in a way. And the chat list on the side. Apart from that, no changes.

The fuck is all this ticker bollocks?

The problem I have with filtering my feed according to people who I interact with is that it is self-fulfilling - I interact more and more with them, and not others, because they are on my news feed.

Say what you want, but this is a real slick bit of UI work. First I've seen of it.

Yeah, it's very nice, although if you were in Google+ beta you would have seen it a couple of months ago.

The new news feed is a huge step back.

It's a complete jumbled mess.

I'm afraid news feeds, or some derivative, is here to stay. It's the future of social networks, we're beginning the phase of "how the hell do we keep 750 million+ users interested when we have no real power it is up to the interaction of the community" and everybody thinks it is in the way they deliver the user-created content to the users. Facebook is doing the "chuck everything we can at it" approach.

My update has actually disappeared since i last refreshed after reading this thread, maybe their cookies are even more genius than we knew.
don't mind the ticker tbh

Also I've had it for about a week up to now, weird that only today there's mass complaining.

I really like knowing when a friend likes someone's really interesting status, even if I don't know who the fuck they are. Really great feed, keep it up facebook.
