Factory sealed Final Fantasy (NES)

does this surprise you??? sealed NES games sell for this all the time, IIRC metroid went for 400 and a black box Donkey Kong 3 went for over 1100. just earlier in the week a sealed ocarina of time went for 200+ and thats only a few years old.

The good news is i own about 20 + sealed NES games and if i ever need money Mike Tysons punchout and Zelda will be the first sealed ones to go

i didnt think it'd bid that high.

i really wish i could've predicted there'd be things like ebay when i was a 12 or so

Just hold your crap now, and sell it in 10years or so.

I think some sealed MGS 3's or RE 4's might sell bigtime in 10-12 years.

Yeah, I think whoever bought this got a tremendous deal. It could have gone for tons more than it did. It was someone from CAG selling this, by the way.

i always had the preconceived notion that most hardcore gamers were broke 35 yr olds who lived in their moms basement. i guess some of them are real ballers if they can piss away money like that

but i guess the same can be said of all hobbies

That's just sad.

After 18 years though, you'll probably do more blowing on, banging, and screaming at the cartridge than you ever just to get it to work. Heck, you'll probably spend more time doing that than playing :lol

NESowned

I was at some local gamestores yesterday and saw a copy of Earthbound in box for $130. Makes me cry when I remember seeing a stack of them in a Best Buy for $5 a piece and not buying them. Granted, I was a teenager then and knew little of this.

I don't think anyone knows, because its sealed.

Well yeah, but I was thinking maybe someone has opened another product that managed to stay sealed for quite a long time, and played with no problems.

i opened a sealed game last month because it didnt have the horizontal seal that nes games usually have. it was pristine.......but i was pissed that i opened it. stupid home alone 2

Speaking of old NES games......... what is the best Fami-Clone? The Messiah looked cool but it sounds like it kinda sucked. Anybody got reccomendations?

99% of "factory sealed" games on ebay are, in fact, re-wraps.

P.S. say some guy bought this game the first day it came out and he sells the cart on ebay for $300, what is his rate of return?

I allways liked the Micro Genius. It was released years ago and in very good quality. And they should be uber cheap.

i dont think that's an accurate statement. the percentage of fakes is probably far lower than that

not necessarily. you just have to look for the horizontal seam across the back of the box. thats and original nintendo seal.

id say if you bought final fintasy when it came out for 50 bucks it would probably be 100+ in todays dollars assuming 3% inflation. so youd make about 200 bucks profit

thats why im stocking myself up with copies of Final Fantasy 7 right now. Who knows how rare it will be after 10, 15 years

on 9/9/99, I found a sealed copy of Simon's Quest in the gamestop used bin. So seeing that I had just enough money on me to get DC and Sonic Adventure, I instead left with my DC and Simon's Quest. I was jazzed because that's my favorite NES game, so having a sealed one was pretty cool, especially at $4.99.

~2 yrs later, I'm moving furniture, and I trip and drop a computer monitor from waist level. If falls and I check to make sure it still works, and it does... because its fall was cushioned by my sealed Simon's Quest, which was pretty much destroyed. :(

Ow...That's a "sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach" kind of pain. I'm bummed out for you.

Me too, man, me too. I kept it as a visual reminder of how NOT to move furniture. The cart works fine, btw. But the actual book and box were... :sob:

did you say super metroid??? cant be. theres a shop i know that still has these. did you really mean super metroid for snes or regular metroid?

There's no way in hell at that Super Metroid - I saw a sealed one go on ebay about 4 or 5 months ago for 6 fucking dollars, no joke.

Just found a sealed Super Metroid that went a couple weeks ago for $71, which is around what I'd realistically expect it to go for. If someone paid a thousand bucks for that, they're a douche :lol . I remember some sealed Lufia 2's and FF3's going for the 400-600 range though.

yeah dude serious. no way it was super.

I think collectors (not individually, because you can make a lot of money, but as a whole) are kind of dumb.

that shrinkwrap was most likely authentic, later games from THQ, Acclaim, Virgin, Hi Tech & a few others didn't have the horizontal seal

I feel pretty dumb when I look at all my RPGs, trying to decide which one I'd like to play, then just lie down in bed without touching anything. :/

I have an opened, but mint-condition copy of Xenogears that I keep for the sole purpose of taunting otaku friends.

"Oh, I barely played it. Actually, I hate it. What? Sell it? Naw."
