Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered heading to Steam on January 29

Seeing the remasters of Resident Evil and Grim Fandango recently makes me pretty unhype for this. It doesn't look like much work went into this at all.

Everyone criticizes the plot, but you forget how actually fucking terrible the game part is.

This. So much this. Like many others, I really loved the demo, but the full game doesn't fall apart only towards the end when
you're brought back to life as a superzombie by the freaking Internet in the guise of a blind old lady in a wheelchair
. It falls apart at the point where you start to realise that this "game" basically consists of one goddamn horrible QTE after another!!! Still makes my blood boil after all these years.

I still remember. It was during that stupid QTE where
you're chased through an office by, of all things, hallucinatory giant LICES
when I first said to myself: Wait a minute, the entire game is going to be like this, isn't it? Boy, was I in for a treat... *shudder*

I don't know that I would say the first third is strong. The opening scene, yes, absolutely. Murdering that guy and then switching to the investigation of that murder was intriguing and cool.

But when you say "the first third" of Fahrenheit, I think of things like rescuing the kid in the frozen lake and the business bugs in the office.

Yeah, the giant ghost dust mites bank assault was the point where I gave up on the game making any sense whatsoever and I soldiered on to see how they could top that level of insanity. I was not disappointed.

100 percent completely sold on this game now.

How can a game that looks this wacky upset people so much? Enjoy life and laugh. I know I will when I get to this part.

Because, despite those gifs, it is all played seriously. Cage seriously treats it as a magnum opus.

When the game starts, a 3D David Cage explains to you how this game melds interactive cutscenes with a cinematic story without a hint of irony.

Oh my fucking god I remember this and thinking how arrogant it was for the game to begin in such a way.

Jesus it's been a while. My opinion of the game managed to get worse with this thread, and I already thought the game shitty.

One of those games that ages like fine piss in a mason jar.

Fantastic opening scene, great build up to the story, but the final third of the game is horrificly bad.

Ghost-aliens returning to 'the machines'? Wat?

Also, when I played this back in the day my Mum could have walked in on any number of puzzle segments, action set pieces, conversations or exploration parts. But of course she came strolling into the computer room smack bang in the middle of a sex mini game FFS.

I found that rather suspicious too then. Should have stopped playing right there.

The thing is: All these descriptions and summaries of the game's numerous "high points" in this thread are misleading. They make the game seem hilarious and "bad in a fun kind of way", but this couldn't be further from the truth. Actually playing the game is an excruciating experience.

Didn't see this one coming. Played through it twice on PS2 and even though that was a very long time ago I'm not sure I feel the need to revisit it.

I was liking the bar area at the beginning then things started going downhill. By the time the QTE basketball game came up I was looking for a reason to bail and the QTE bug fight gave me my out.

I will support this if we get an updated Omikron however.

Uhm, sorry? I think you mean "when the movie starts"
And I'm not being a "This isn't even a game" snob.

Seeing the remasters of Resident Evil and Grim Fandango recently makes me pretty unhype for this. It doesn't look like much work went into this at all.

Actually I find both of those fine. The Gamecube remaster of Resident Evil was great and involved a lot of work to improve, with it's resolution increases and additions for the new one are fitting and not overboard considering the limits of the background assets also. Investing more in a remake rather than remaster is unnecessary to most. They simply brought it into a HD format.

Grim Fandango similarly has background asset issues, but more importantly, that game is massively stylised with certain scenes being priceless because of it. Improving the textures is merely touch up works, while improving the lighting is certainly fitting to the noir styling the game has. Improving the music is a great idea in theory, since they are perfect themes and well suited to an orchestra for the noir theme. The game is a work of art

Indigo Prophecy, has no such issues in any of the above senses but for some reasons they were compelled to maintain it's look. You could argue it is laziness and that they could remaster it like they did gtav etc etc, but I seriously doubt any of that is necessary. In the traditional terms of "remastering", that is exactly what they have done specifically with the textures that look unreadable otherwise. They clearly didn't want to invest a lot in remaking it, and I imagine it suits their purposes for rereleasing the game, which is also curious

The game is completely up front about that and what it is, even in the literal movie set tutorial. I thought it worked perfectly fine and set the expectation to what to expect, which is actually what I was interested in - something different and narrative driven. However, I only played about half of it, and apparently that was the better half

This game is absolutely awful, I don't think they can suddenly "remaster" a better story and decent gameplay into it.

It's one of those games you play until, at some point, you realize you're completely wasting your life away. Just like the developers that wasted their time remastering it.

The guy was just there to be black, play basketball, be a shit to his gf and then piss off to Florida.
To be fair, his girlfriend is bit of a bitch herself

"Why do you have to be in danger all the time, why can't we go and have a NORMAL life in Florida?" (because Florida crime is so much safer and "normal"?)

And later in the workplace, gets an email

"Honey, I'm sorry for me nagging to you this morning. Or rather, sorry that it didn't work. I'll keep nagging in the future, k honey? Luv ya"

Yeah loved this game from the of the rail ending
and the spectacular necrophilia sex scene!
.

I love this game!!!

All you people who hate it I guess you ended the game very early after you get back to Lucas' apartment and mix the painkillers with alcohol to commit suicide. Or get his mental health down so low that he will commit suicide via jumping off his balcony.

This is the "Yo dawg, I hear you like QTE's.." of RPG's. I just want to push up to climb.. not battle the controls in yet another QTE.

Lol this is a joke post right?

To be fair, the internet hadn't fully disseminated the knowledge of what Florida's really like at that point.

Way better. Heavy Rain sucks. Still haven't played Beyond, is it any good?

I'm a bit late with a reply but yeah, Beyond is brilliant. I would suggest getting it but most people are certain a PS4 version is coming soon.

----------

The original had low resolution because it was on older hardware. This is much crisper and the detail is easier to make out. The backgrounds in the diner look better.

Why are you posting rubbish youtube screens? The game looks far better than those images suggest.

Hmmm... How about now

And what the hell are you smoking? We haven't seen any gameplay from this remaster so you couldn't of gotten that right image from it.

Great game. Yes the story got a little wonky towards the end but the game still delivers mostly fantastic writing and storytelling as well as great moody atmosphere. Will re-buy on Steam and iPad. One of my favorite games.

I remember playing this on the PS2 and being blown away by the games opening.....a few hours later and necro sex.

Weirdest shit ever.

David Cage causing suffering with this game once was enough, now he's going to cause people to re-live it? I guess I should be careful saying that around here tho, GAF seems to really like his games. Especially Beyond, which I'll never understand. At least Heavy Rain was okay (tho still bad), but Indigo and Beyond were... woof.

I played this with my girlfriend way back in the day. She laughed when I mentioned that they were re-releasing it. I don't think I'll be picking this up again....

Have you never played the game before?

You seriously can commit suicide and end the story early lol
Everyone in this thread who says only the very first part of the game is the best should then just buy the HD version and then commit suicide so they don't have to play the rest.

Mixing alcohol and pills, not a good idea!

100 percent completely sold on this game now.

It's hilarious and amazing to me to see how bitter people are over this game still.

Thanks for the laugh, Mr. Cage.

Having played the Gog.com version a couple years ago, there is no way I will go back to this game. The first few hours are really interesting, the setup and the mystery and the constant changing protagonists, then the story goes crazy beyond all imagination...

And those cutscenes, oh those cutscenes. I turned them down to easy and still missed a few because they take just so long.

A remaster of one of the worst games ive ever played? Fantastic!! :/

I loved the opening scene but it was literally the only good part. I quit sometime around the giant bugs in the office

I really want to know what went through Cage's head when writing this. Like did no one stop him? It feels like with George Lucas and the prequels except Cage reeks of pretentiousness.

I found the best parts of this game to be the diner and the apartment scenarios. The quick nose dive after was such a bummer at the time.

I don't know if I'm willing to play this game again, but I'm glad it's there if I want to.

Oh i remember this game.
Friend told me that the first part is great.
It's true, some of the best sequence i've ever play and very memorable.
What come later though....
He and i rather not talk about it.
