Some of my friends have discovered a nifty program called RaidCall for that, which is actually even better and more lightweight than Skype. So for gaming I use that now, pretty handy program, but it's sorta niche.

For League of Legends GAF is on Mumble.
There's a neoGAF Mumble server setup, it's pretty good... ;P
I personally like Mumble better than raidcall.

In Vancouver we can't get enough snow on our local mountains for recreational activities... :(

As a soccer player, I don't really mind the lack of snow here in Vancouver LOL! And my favorite winter activity is skating, so no snow required! :p
