Seeing GITS: SAC on dvd reminds me: is there a reason a blu-ray never made it stateside? It feels like something that would do really well (by anime in the US standards anyway).

Manga apparently thinks it wouldn't do well for them. I read this a while ago so it might have changed and it could be false.

Yeah, it's just Manga Entertainment being stupid.

If you want the BD badly, you can import the Korean version. It has subs and the English dub on it.

So I've been watching Gatchaman Crowds and I'm really enjoying it.

Probably this means I have bad taste.

Not true at all. I adore Gatchaman Crowds. Wonderful, wonderful show.

Unless I have bad taste as well. :p

Edit: Make sure to watch the director's cut of the final episode when you reach it.

Sometimes if a show is really enjoyable I will put it on hold until I have the whole series to watch.
I did that with Steins Gate and Accel World.
Sometimes stories are just too good to punctuate with a weekly episode wait.
ce moved on to other things in life.

Yes. I think the only problem with this approach is if the show in question is one that you don't want to end. With the weekly method the conclusion is drawn out so you can savour it. But for some shows I find being able to consume it all at once leaves me feeling melancholic. But I suppose that's where some self control should come into the equation so I should pace myself instead of just watching it all at once.

Well that's disappointing. Not enough of a collector to spend that much money. At least it stings a little less than Darker than Black, where funimation has decided to only release season 2*

I watched it fairly recently and liked it too.
OST was great.

Seriously. I can't quit this OST. So good.

I've heard about it, so I'm gonna have to dig about to find it.

Hajime too cute.

I thought it was entertaining enough.

I mean, I don't know that I'd call it the greatest show in forever but compared to my usual fare of MOTW 40 year old giant robot anime and trash that fuels the hate-fires I must ever keep burning in order to stay alive, it's nice to have something I'm legitimately entertained by.

The secret is the OP. It just strings you along.

Dude for reals. This OP is killer. I think because it sort of doesn't sound like a lot of the OPs a lot of other anime I've watched lately have. Like I might catch flak for this, but I was thinking recently how Madoka and Fate/Zero have some of the most generic OPs I've ever heard. I'm not articulate enough to explain why I feel that way, other than that I feel like that those OPs sound a lot like a lot of other OPs.

Anything is probably better than Gankutsuou's OP, though. That song was just off.

Code Geass R2 END

5/5.
10/10.
100/100.

My only regret is that I didn't have the chance to watch this while it was airing.
I might do a longer post later but who am I kidding, how can I sum Geass and my feelings towards it up?

Internet never been the same again since Geass finished, I'll always told the stories.

Milky Holmes TD Promo

There's a faint idol element to the show now (to promote Toys Drive), and the director isn't the same as the first two seasons - Moriwaki is working her magic on PriPara now - but most importantly of all, Milky Holmes are back to being worthless good-for-nothings and the show returns to the GA-esque zonky comedy that made me a fan in the first place.

I'd say it's my most anticipated show of the new season, but that's a disservice to my other most anticipated shows of the season.

What, has animegaf forgotten about IS? Go watch the OVA, now!

There's a new season of Milky Holmes coming? That's great news, so long as the series never ever mentions again the idiocy of "Alternate" and its awful harem element with the teacher guy they all like and stupid serious real-world-genocidal-supervillain garbage or the maybe even WORSE debacle that was We Are Feathers (the real name of the previous season, in my opinion!)... but what you say here sounds promising. The first two seasons were great fun, so I'll watch this for sure. I mean, I watched all of Feathers, so it would have to get pretty unwatchable for me to actually drop it... there are things which would do that, but here's hoping that doesn't happen! Just stick with the fun silly stupid hopelessness of the first two seasons, with awesome over-the-top action once in a while, such as the closing arcs of both of those seasons.

I'd launch into a counter-argument about why I think the knee-jerk reaction to even the word "harem" is often overblown in the not-Japan anime fandom, but I've already done that before. It was a very interesting few pages.

Full Metal Panic! - 23

So uh, it turns out that
Tessa has a freaking yandere mode. Seriously, I knew this girl could get angry but dang, she almost sounded like a villain in this episode when she spoke to Gauron.

Who unfortunately escapes and gets back to his mecha. Now Sousuke's gotta fight him. When they're on a submarine. Full of his crewmates. Oh man.

Nanatsu no Taizai 9

We get a glimpse at the Sacred Treasures and more sexual harassment happens.

This was about the time when I really started to like this series as it was the first real indication of the Sins' power outside of the standard protagonist. Really showed the potential in how much variety and escalation could come out of the world.

Also, the tournament arc starts.

If you look up the page a bit you'll surely notice that I don't dislike everything that has a harem in it, of course
... but making a not-harem franchise into a harem one is never good. It's not a knee-jerk reaction, it's that by having them all like the same guy they're kind of ruining the characters.

Saving my anime watching for the second Fall OT thread. Coming to a community forum near you.
Well, watch it soon then. I'd hope for people to maybe try to answer the questions in my review too, but I imagine that many of them are unanswerable; the OVA is, like the series as a whole, obvious inexplicable nonsense. There's obviously plenty that can be said about it despite that though. :)

1) Tabane's not really good or evil, just really disruptive and willing to act on a whim.
2) Glancing at the translation of book 8, they were after the unregistered core taken from an unmanned unit to be used in secret American military plans that aren't explained either.

What she does in this OVA seems to go beyond that, though...

Hmm. But I thought that the unregistered core they were talking about is the one from the Silverio Gospel, which isn't unmanned in the LN? What am I missing?

I'd have to sit down and watch it. Guessing it's either a recovered core from episode 9 of S2 or it's a by-product of adaptation where they're taking liberties in the (ultimately unimportant) reason for the Americans to be infiltrating.

Super hot training camp, Johnny Cute Flash, and Melonkatsu. Aw yeah.

Akari still sucks at this? How long has this been now? Way to blow the pick, Ichigo.

And again, her kingdom was conquered, the culture of her people and their language wiped out. To what extent were they killed off horribly or just put into slavery or servitude is an on going argument and one without a definitive answer but those were clearly not very happy times for them. I don't think it's much of a stretch that she feels regret over this, especially since she seems to spend all her free time in some Camlannesque time limbo.

Pretty much.

Shin Sekai Yori 16

An exquisite, beautiful and emotionally exhaustive assault on my poor feels.
Saki and Maria are my favourites among the main cast so this hurt much more than the episode 10. Though I fear that the large focus on this relationship and the continuous hinting of future sad events means this will not end very well. The sudden exploration of the similarity between querats and humans and of source of energy for Cantus makes me think I'm in for some ground breaking revelations in this department soon.

Yeah the whole thing is about to be blown wide open. Its all setting up for something and you'll see it quite soon. A whole lot more will come into focus and it wont be pretty.

Gunslinger Stratos TV anime in April 2015. Staff:

Director: Shinpei Ezaki
Series Composition: Norimitsu Kaiho (Nitroplus)
Character Designer: Shin’ichi Yokota
Music: Tetsuya Kobayashi
Production: A-1 Pictures

Nitroplus is listed for scenario, Urobuchi is credited as original creator. PV: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2c5gkx

Anime is now combining titles together I see.

Speaking of game designs, why can't we get her in SAO anime

Hmmm. Acceptable.

New Death Parade key visual

Show also has new website http://www.deathparade.jp instead of just the NTV one.

This art has some Cowboy Bebop vibes to it. I like it.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm starting to get kind of interested in anime and I'm wondering if I should watch DragonBall since its kind of a classic. If so, should I bother with the original Dragonball or skip straight to Dragonball Z?

Dragonball is more a story about the characters leading up to the fighting. DBZ is where the shit got real.

Read or Die 09-11

An adventure in the underground ruins, the Paper Sisters' backstory and a farewell to Japan. The first one kinda reminded me of episode 5 with its adventure story, and the other two episodes gave plenty more heartwarming Anita moments. She's come a long way from a girl cursing God on Christmas for giving her a hard life. I like the little bit of development she got in 11 too, with her actively seeking out and reading a book for probably the first time, just to say good bye to Hisami. Looking at the end of episode 11, however, the action is about to be kicked up several dozen notches.

Chocotto Sister Advent Calendar Day 09

So Chitose has a dream where she's a fairy in the plant that Haruma got from Ayano, flittering around. That's vivid and a little odd, but also a way to signify hope, I suppose. The plotline wasn't quite resolved, but things are left open enough so that everyone has a chance for love in the future. I am glad they're taking a break from it, though, even for a hot springs episode. Choco having fun is the best kind of Choco. (Plus it means more Chitose and Makoto hanging out, and I want more of that.)

Episode 9 is where
the big boob naked girl dies
isnt it? That episode was kind of strange and didnt fit the tone of the rest of the show IMO. It was brutal too damn.

In a OVA that outs almost everyone in the harem as the sluts they really are.

Best girl remains best by just wanting to purely be by his side.

Shame they didn't add in the jealous Ichika scene.

No need to hide the fact that the dense idiot likes her more than anyone else.

I dont see Charles, Laura, or Tatenashi in those pictures. You posted the wrong ones.
I will forgive this mistake.

There was talk of the best female character of the season (with Cross Ange as the catalyst) a few days ago, so I'd like to propose something. The best male character of the season is Leona West from PriPara.

EH7QlU1.jpg

Devoted to his older sister Dorothy (or rather, Dorothy is protective of him), he goes to school in a male uniform and lives the life of an idol in the independent city-state/theme park that is PriPara. While Lala and company were surprised that Leona was a dude at first, now it's accepted and nobody's really bothered by it. If he wants to wear pastel-colored outfits and sing with his sister and Shion, who's going to stop him? He's secure in his identity, and a great friend to everyone, especially Sophie. Breaking down gender roles and being a pretty good singer, on top of that. Tension relax all the way.

Hmmm. Well shes a cutie!

Nice pick ups. Is that the dreaded spindle set or did they repackage Tutu into a less shameful packaging?

They're some on that list I add on my 2nd purchase. If anyone care, here are my list on my purchase for now. The 1st purchase will went through but the 2nd batch will be the one I am slowly trying to add up. This will be my one year buying spreed on anime right now.

You have excellent tastes. Some of those shows are really nostalgic for me!
Especially in the second group.

Trinity Seven 10

Great episode, though I feel I won't be happy with whatever ending they put in the next 2 episodes. However, I LOVE this song whenever it plays. The vocals reminds me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe Final Fantasy?

This tune is beautiful. I have no idea what it reminds me of though.

there's probably space lesbians though

Did somebody say space lesbians?

Did Chaika S2 go off to some original story? Did S1 have no filler?

From what I know, it didn't go off into a fully original story, but it definitely skipped a lot and added some things that weren't there originally, which isn't to be taken as a good thing in this case.

Also saw a GBF Try spoiler image -
Looks like Nils Nielsen is back this episode, or at least someone who looks a lot like him. RETURN OF CARORIIIIIIIIINE SOON? Because it looks like he married that lol
