Fallout 4 - Multiple E3 Gameplay Demos, Releasing November 10th, 2015

Looks more or less like I'd expect a Fallout on the new consoles to look. Not sold on the voice acted MC or the limited / simplified dialogue options. More or less a neutral reaction, happy it's coming this year though.

For you picky bastards, is there any reason Bethesda can't make the protagonist silent for the actual dialogue back-and-forths and let you select from the full subtitle if you are one of those monsters? And that just leaves him/ her voiced for cutscenes/creation?

Even then there would be a lower amount dialogue options it looks like so even if they did do that it doesn't solve the main problem.

Yeah, expected this kind of answer.
There is no white, black, asian, whatever voice. Voices are varying in region. E.g. there are various African countries with different kinds of languages requiring different "voices". You can't say there is a typical black voice there because there is such a variety of african countries which differ extremely concerning the usage of the voice.

'White guy voice' is just a poor way of desribing it there is a wide range of 'voices' period.

They just basically showcased a game where you can customize the shit about many aspects, and they pitch, as always their world as being dynamic in a 'live your own adventure' type of way, and on the other side, well .... all your characters, will have the random generic placeholder bland voice .... and certainly as generic and bland dialog options.

Also on the customization front I sincerley hope the power armor isn't the only armor you can customize the shit of, we need a stealth, and a medium 'combat' armor with similar options !

The fewer options claim is just assuming they're going to do the Mass Effect style of dialogue. They can easily have many options by using one of the 4 buttons to scroll to more options when necessary.

I am ready to eat crow, I was one of the ones that said it looked like shit and was disappointing. They really could have picked better screenshots/footage for the reveal because it looks brilliant.

A voice from someone who is actually that ethnicity for each one. Otherwise you have a white dude voicing a black or asian guy. Whoever's voicing this sounds like boring mcvideogame voice
Okay. So what if the Asian guy doing the voice acting just sounds like a "white guy"? Is it still a white guy voice?

The only fear I have is that we will look back on fallout 3 as the good old days as far as Bethesda dialogue goes. Which would be all kinds of sad.

Crafting looks ace though. And I know I'm going to love the exploration.

I'm a convinced supporter of equality but this just doesn't add up. I provided an explanation, others stated similar points and a dude said that his voice sounds like that caricature of a white guy even though he isn't white, so why are you ignoring all of this? Those "black", " Asian", etc voices are a social construct to generalise how certain minorities "speak" and to mock them. White people established them through movies, books, etc. but there are no real differences in your voice linked to your skin colour, it's just false. As I said in my previous post: you would find differences among different African countries even though the population is black.
What you do is pretending that there is a certain kind of voice among different minorities and ignore the variety of them.

After watching those videos I can say that I'm genuinely excited for Fallout 4.

- Animations have been improved
- The color palette is wider
- The crafting system looks streamlined and fun
- The directed dialogue cameras are a very welcome addition

Time to really give NV a spin on the PC. I only managed to put in a few hours during some Steam sale some years ago.

Stuff before the nuke looked rough or straight up bad, but after that everything was just great.
I'm more of a TES guy, but this will do for 2015 !
And TES next year ? Please ?

I can see why the graphics took a hit - a lot of scale and ambition. Looks good all things considered. Movement/Shooting looks a bit stiff. Other than that - great blowout. Looking forward to more.

This is the type of game where bugs are plenty - hopefully the holiday deadline doesn't rush things.

Conversation wheel and fully voiced player character :/ Nope.

Does anyony know if there will be any skill checks in conversations at least?

i think a new ES is at least 2 or 3 years away IMO of course. they seem too busy doing trading card games and MMO and sorts.

Cancelled the pre-order of the Pip Boy version. It's just a piece of plastic and everything would be just done on a smart phone anyways. Not paying $60 for a piece of plastic. I'll probably find a deal where it's 20% to 25% off digitally.

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I really doubt this. :(

Holy shit, 2015 redeemed.

I guess now we know why some games decided to delay until early 2016 or go for a slightly earlier release than they might otherwise have.

There's an inbuilt skill check on every conversation option. It tests the players skill how well you can guess what your character is going to say when you pick paraphrased option. The consequence of failing this is a 1 minute reloading screen to try it all over again.

Voiced main character who ends up talking without any player input at regulair intervals and a Mass Effect dialogue system.

Fuck this. Fallout 3 was terrible and this looks like another huge step in the wrong direction for the francise. Fallout is dead to me.

How do you know there will be less options? It could easily work like W3 or Mass Effect where one question asked opens a slot for another to be asked. They could have just as many lines written for your character as before.

looks like a fallout game.
I hope that these new features will have a reason to be there, they looks as cool as they look worthless in the game economy in my eyes.
My concern about a fallout game is more about the levelling and the combat system, that in the long run hurt my enjoyment of the previous games.
I can built the coolest weapon i can think of but if the game is unable to make its use worth what's the point?

I hope that those things are not just cool fillers in a game that to me has other problem to solve.

Game looks amazing.

The voiced protagonist and dialogue options are a good thing, in my opinion. Construction looks great, but I'd only use it to make a player home. Crafting of course looks ace, and so does power armor. Character creation is incredibly improved, and I think the way they made the male and female protagonists a married couple was brilliant. They need to get more credit for voicing A THOUSAND names, by the way. That's an accomplishment.

I'll probably end up playing this in third person since I don't use VATS. The camera and gunplay look improved enough to accommodate that. Layered armor is great and I was hoping for something like that to be implemented.

Kind of hope you can turn a measly 10mm starting handgun into a viable endgame weapon with that system, otherwise it's half pointless.

The base building stuff is straight out of the "Wasteland Defense" mod, but I doubt it'll be half as rich in features outside of the building aspect.
