Fallout 4 |OT2| Farming Simulator 2287

Dude Sim Settlements (with idustrial expack) is awesome!

Any pointers from anybody that uses it?

I use it in addition to the Horizon survival overhaul so things may vary depending on which mods you use. Fallout 4 has become crack now...

I usually avoid abusing the system, too OP on a survival beginning (the first 10-15 levels), but then you can really have fun. It's also entirely customizable through the holotape so if you don't like a system (dynamic needs, upgrades...) you can tweak it as you wish.

I'm letting the game decide which plots are built, with some exceptions : when starting a new settlement I build the water/power industrial plots (from an addon) but those are too OP so once the settlement is "running" I destroy them and place the adequate tools. Seeing a commercial clinic being built when you're about to die is the best. Ammo plant is also great (but a little OP).

The addition of martial plots is a godsend, it's harder to upgrade them but the defense value is worth it (along with bonus artillery on some of those).

Haven't scratched the surface of advanced industrial yet, I only have 4 lvl 2, I guess the "secrets" are tied to the lvl 3s.

My latest project is filling red rocket with provisioner automatons sent through the commonwealth. The first one builds the others (addon industrial automatron workshop).

If you want more population control and/or an alternative way of recruiting settlers, an addon pack lets you build an (industrial plot) scavenger dispatcher, which acts as a beacon but only if you have home and work plots available for the future settler, which is a good way to have the settlement the way you want (and preplot it, ala simcity).

Use and abuse the ASAM sensor which adds a glow to homeless/unemployed settlers and no power / awaiting upgrade plots. Be careful about homeless provisioners and settlers assigned to vanilla food/defense/shops don't count as unemployed (but don't fill the job bar).

new patch with bugfixes today, uncluding a potential fix to my CTD in plot heavy settlements. can't wait!

Are there any mods that turn the skill/perk system in a more traditional one, we know from Fallout 3 onwards? This, and the dialog choices are the only things that really bother me.

Hi all.

Nick Valentine just won't come with me, he's just sitting at his desk and the only dialogue option is "trade". any idea? I need him for a side quest!

And another question, how can I know the total hours played in the PS4 version?

Thanks!

Your total hours played will show up on your save file. Not sure about Nick. Maybe try talking to his assistant first. Is it possible your character has done too many bad things and Nick is angry with you? It's most likely just a bug though.

Change companions a few times, he should get unstuck.

I just pressed X and it worked. That button seemed to be deactivated, but...

Weird bug I guess.

Thanks guys!

I've been so addicted to this game again recently. Survival mode just makes this a way better game IMO. I'm really glad I missed a ton of cool side quests on my first character because now I get to do them for the first time in Survival. I wish Skyrim had a difficulty setting like this.

I'm still playing vanilla, but I'm definitely going to install that lighting mode at the top of the page. And I guess I'll look into keeping achievements enabled while using mods.

Skyrim does have some nice survival mods going for it if you're into that.

My only issue for that is that the next time I play it will be the PSVR version. I would have loved an official Survival mode for that. I don't know much about the mods that are currently available on the console version but I have major doubts that the VR version will allow any of them, too.

I hadn't played the game in a while, so jumped back on the PS4 over the last couple weeks to get the last few trophies I was missing to get the platinum and then figured I would start again and check out some mods.

Like holy radmoly does the green mods give the game a different feel, it looks so much nicer with a touch of green here and there, a few trees and some grass. I know its not but the world feels much more alive than it did only an hour ago before I restarted.

Holy fuck...

Maybe it's time to play again. What are some other must have mods that don't alter the gameplay too much? Mostly graphics / immersion.

You might also want to take a look at Ultra Interior Lighting for another interior lighting mod:

^After 170 hours of playing the vanilla game, I'm pissed that I didn't have that trading mod installed.

and wow this mod is awesome:
Oh man, I didn't know that Enhanced Lights and FX is out in an early version:

Some of the interior lighting was awful so I'm glad that anamorfus is working on it.
Might give FO4 another run with Horizon and ELFX.

It just looks so damn natural indoors now. It even makes the NPCs look way better to be properly lit.

Is there a way to change the FOV when only looking at the Pipboy to make it appear further away while not messing with my 1st/3rd person FOVs?

I played this game for 350 hours without mods and stopped playing during Far Harbor. I wanted to finally beat Far Harbor and get into Nuka-World as well so I downloaded 42 mods and changed my difficulty to Survival and dear lord... what a game changer they are. I'm playing a completely new game. Here's what I have if anyone is looking to get back into this game (no particular order, listing from top to bottom using Nexus Mod Manager):

Weapons of Fate (Ballistics Overhaul) - Gives ammo bullet drop and different properties making it more realistic.
Button Lowered Weapons - First and Third Person - Small change to lower weapons without putting them away entirely.
Swinging Animated Meat Bags - Instead of being static. Something so minuscule to mod that makes a big difference in Super Mutant territory. Adds swinging noise and flys around them, too.
Eli's Armour Compendium - I only used this to complement the Better Settlers mod to make them look more varied.
Dynamic Music Overhaul - I chose Ambiance-only so no more combat music queuing so I have no idea if a threat is near.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Music Mod
No more cash register sound when XP gain
Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch - Mandatory
Wearable Backpacks and Pouches - Great addition for Survival mode. I would even say mandatory if you plan to play on Survival.
The Mobile Mechanic - Portable Workbenches and Junk Scrapping - Great addition for Survival mode. I would even say mandatory if you plan to play on Survival.
Crows And Creatures - HD re-textures of lots of different crows and creatures.
Delightful Dead Fish - HD Retextures for the Commonwealth and Far Harbor DLC
Smaller Moon
True Storms - Wasteland Edition (Thunder-Rain-Weather Redone) - Mandatory. Complements Darker Nights.
Vivid Fallout - All in One - Updated HD textures for a lot of stuff that somehow looks better and also gives you better performance.
Campsite - Simple Wasteland Camping (and HD Sleeping Bags) - Great addition for Survival mode. I would even say mandatory if you plan to play on Survival.
Increased Walking Speed - I like walking in these games but I find default too slow. You can turn this on / off in your inventory.
Survival Mode Fast Travel Enabled - I try not to fast travel a lot but sometimes going across the entire map to complete a quest or store items gets old fast.
SURVIVAL QUICK SAVE - No Sleep Till Bedtime - The only reason I use this is because my game tends to crash a lot so I have to save often or else I could lose hours of playtime which is very annoying.
Survival Mode Console Enabler - Survival mode disables console commands, I use this because I need the console for the Ultra God Rays fix (below)
Ultra Quality God Rays Performance Fix Must have if your system can handle Ultra quality god rays. Gives me a 20fps boost and god rays still look great. Type "GR MaxCascade 1" into the console once you activate this to lessen the shimmering effect.
Ponytail Hairstyles by Azar v2.5a - I only used this to complement the Better Settlers mod to make them look more varied.
Journal of the Sole Survivor - Personal Journal - For the immersion geeks out there.
Pip-Boy Flashlight (Pipboy - Power Armor - Lamp Overhaul) - Mandatory. Complements Darker Nights wonderfully. I chose a smaller flashlight and I forgot name. HT50 or something like that.
Rain of Brass - Keeps bullet shells on the ground longer. Looks cool after a big firefight when looting a place.
Realistic Stars
Visual Reload - Visually drops ammo cartridges on the ground when reloading.
Enhanced Blood Textures
Fallout Texture Overhaul PipBoy (Pip-Boy) UHD 4K
Improved Map with Visible Roads - Just makes roads and small details on the Pip-Boy map more noticeable.
Realistic Pool Balls HD
The Eyes Of Beauty Fallout Edition
Better Settlers - Adds 250 unique settlers to the game.
Sim Settlements - Mandatory if you plan to tinker with settlement building.
Sim Settlements - Industrial Revolution - Expansion to above mod.
More Where That Came From - Diamond City Radio Edition - Great to put on if you decide not to fast travel.
OLD WORLD RADIO - BOSTON - Same as above. Adds a ridiculous amount of lore-friendly radio content.
Full Dialogue Interface
HUDFramework - Used for Sim Settlements for some added HUD elements.
Enable Achievements with Mods - Unfortunately not available on consoles.
Darker Nights - Mandatory. Choose the darkest setting!
Enhanced Lights and FX - Mandatory. Makes the lighting inside buildings amazing and way more realistic.

I would say the biggest game changers would be Survival difficulty, True Storms, Darker Nights, Pip-Boy Flashlight, Enhanced Lights and FX, and the music changes. The game is way more tense and if I wasn't careful I was getting one-shotted by some mobs in Far Harbor. I'm always used to being indestructible when I play Fallout but with these changes it practically makes it into a survival / horror experience.

For instance it was starting to get dark in Far Harbor and I entered an abandoned house and I started to hear these big ass swamp creatures stomping around outside. It was dark as shit, went upstairs where there was a single lantern and a dead body with a note saying he probably won't make it until morning, and I ended up just peeking and ducking through the windows trying to pick off each creature one by one all while some creepy music from STALKER was playing. If it were the Vanilla experience I probably would have just ran out with a shotty and be done in a few seconds. It really felt like I was playing a survival horror game.

If you're new to modding it might take some time to set everything up properly. Just download Nexus Mod Manager from that same site and use the program to download the mods and run through each installer when activating a mod. It's pretty straight forward but just be sure to read mod descriptions as some give you what the proper load order should be. I also use the program LOOT to automatically set my load order and make sure I don't have any errors, as well.

i am asking here just incase someone knows the answer to my problem ( altough the chance of that is pretty slim i think ) :

i am using someone else's Ini file presets for my game and while everything works great i have one problem .

When i open the map on my pipboy i can only move the mouse in a tiny square area on the top left hand side of the pipboy screen ( sort of feels like the mouse pointer is stuck in a invisible window .

I know something in one of the files is causing it since replacing them with the vanilla ones fixes the problem .
the weird thing is that it only seems to have this problem when using a controller , it is fixed when using M/KB in options .

these are his ini files :

Fallout .ini : https://pastebin.com/HNvh2feY
Fallout custom ini : https://pastebin.com/fNxbErKh
Fallout prefs ini : https://pastebin.com/EwUEfCn5

anyone spot the problem of what this is causing and how to fix it ?

Why do you use those inis anyway? I wouldn't mess with stuff like uGridsToLoad. And settings like bUseMultiThreadedTrees don't even have an effect afaik.

Do graphical mods on ps4 (overgrowth) disable trophies as well?

Bought the game at launch but never got around to playing it. Reinstalled yesterday and was looking thru the mods and overgrowth looks cool but I don't want trophies disabled for my first playthru ya know.

Yes.

There is a reason.

There also should be a mod that renables trophies. It exists on PC.

Out of interest, what is the reason? I know you could obviously "cheat" your way to trophies but it's not like you get anything tangible/useful from having trophies?

There's is your reason. Trophy hunters spend hours and hours to get achievements and since it's a closed system it's the same (effort) for everyone. So if you get platinum, in let's say Dishonored, you really know what you have accomplished and what troubles you went through. I don't care that much, personally, but I can imagine how pissed many people would be if someone gets the platinum trophy without any effort (you could start thinking "why don't I simply cheat as well", because then the whole system is ad absurdum. And since it's online visible for everyone and not just for yourself it's there to compare to others. And this comparison would be compromised). Thus, disabling it when using mods.

CROSS Crit Gore-verhaul

i love this mod .

i always found it a bit silly and lazy that enemies turn into ash piles when shot with lasers or turned into goo piles upon death .

This mod makes it so when shooting an enemy with a lazeror plasma rifle it litterally melts the skin of his bones leaving a skeleton behind that still wears the armor that NPC was carrying .

and as shown on the mod page it also applies to all creatures.
the synths obviously still turn to ashpiles since there is no flesh to burn off .

I am level 59 and I have not really done the main quest (I barely done stuff in Diamond City, have the castle independence quest). I barely gone below Diamond City on the map. I just stumbled upon where you go to Far Harbor.

Should I do all the DLC? Is the Vault DLC worth it to do now also?

I'm playing on PC, and i'm stuck inside a power armor without power. pressing E doesnt work, i dont know why.

Does anyone knows the console command to leave the power armor?

It's 3 in the morning and I can't fall asleep! Got this and played along with Gaf at launch but got distracted by other games. Looking to get back into it though.

All I have is the base game. With that said what's a good Power Armor build? This is still my first Fallout and I'm not all that familiar with what is best for s good build.

Fallout is my favorite gaming franchise. New Vegas and Fallout 3 game of the year editions gave me hours upon hours of amazing gaming moments. I remember how the dlcs gave me more of what I loved and I really enjoyed the fact that they were all on disc...

And now, pumped, I bought the game of the year edition of Fallout 4. I opened the case and found codes to download the dlcs... I know I should have made some research first, but I'm disappointed...

And now, playing through the main game, something feels off. It's not pulling me in as much as New Vegas or surprising me as Fallout 3 did... the introduction so far and the beginning in Sanctuary is, unfortunately, not that good in my opinion.

It gets better, in my opinion. And for what's worth it, I'm a Fallout fan since the very first game (was rocking it on a 100 Mhz Pentium and 32 MB RAM). And I find the story of Fallout 4 more intriguing than Fallout 3's and New Vegas', to be honest.

The Project Purity twist in F3 wasn't really thrilling and the revenge motivation of the protagonist in New Vegas... well, it's a revenge story that involves a clash of several factions over the Hoover Dam. I was a lot more emotional involved in Fallout 4 – sure the dubbed protagonist helped with that.

However, I wished they would have kept the skill checks in dialog and offered more than four dialog options. Felt like a big step away from RPG elements Fallout always had.

To be fair to New Vegas I don't really think the story about your character was supposed to be the interesting part, that was supposed to be the excuse to get your character to interact with the world (it was simply a macguffin). The story was more about the world your character interacted with (the area and the people in it and the drama unfolding between them). Hell, if you didn't play Loneseome Road (the one DLC I have never gotten to cause the game got unplayable after Old World Blues), you wouldn't have much backstory to your character at all and could make your own story for him (I remember being jealous of hte guy who decided he was going to play as if Handsome Jack some how was the protoganist. Wish I thought of that. And you could get away with that and have it reasonably make sense other than how the hell did Handsome Jack get there). I thought that was a brilliant way of letting you play whoever you wanted while making a decently solid story for the fact it had to be flexible to allow the player room to make their own story within their story.

In fact, if I were trying to make a bad description of New Vegas like some askreddit question proposed (take your favorite game and make a bad description for it), I'd say it was a story about a guy getting revenge. Because honestly, if that is all you got out of the story, you really weren't paying attention or you never got all that far in it. It's like saying Fallout 1 was about the character getting the water chip... (Sure, at some point at the beginning it was and it lets you think that is all it is... but it really was more of an excuse for you to get pulled into the real story).

That's what I'd like to see Bethesda take from New Vegas. Not from Witcher which is even more constrained since they were trying to do a very well written story which also meant constrainting your character more on who he could be. 4 already fell way too much into that trap cause that's the direction they went to try to address people's complaints about needing better written story.. .making your character have an even more constrained backstory and story so less able to play your own. This is what I fear out of Bethesda when people keep praising Witcher in comparison to Bethesda, they are getting the wrong lesson out of it. Witcher is not the same type game and even though I agree CDPR was more polished with their goals with Witcher than Bethesda with their games, I prefer Bethesda's style. ANd it does seem Bethesda is moving away from that and trying to make their games more like other RPGs that ruins why I like Bethesda games and what makes them different that I can't get out of other RPGs. I really wish they'd look more at what Obsidian did with their engine cause that kept what Bethesda does well while actually addressing what Bethesda doesn't.

So I bought the game without DLC and looking forward to playing it. But I want a bit more realistic experience so I want to increase damage dealt/recieved with mods. What would be the most appropriate increase: 2 or 4 times? I don't want to die from one bullet but I also hate bullet sponges.

Also how is stealth in this game? Is it worth it to make a pure stealth char?

The only problem with this aproach is that it makes stealth even more broken. A more balanced solution would be leaving damaging dealt as is and only increase damage received. I don't remember the mods that does this (sorry), but it exists.

Good to hear that the performance on the One X is running nicely for you (as of the timing of your post, back in may in the past). I didn't know that the One X was able to reach up to full 4k resolution in FO4. I know the overall experience is dynamic resolution, but it's nice to see that FO4 on one X can reach full 4k resolution crispness at times.

Yes Fallout 4 has its problems, bugs, doesn't look the best, and plenty of people have their shares of reasonable reasons for not liking it, but I love the game when I was playing it...and now I'm playing it again.

It has been a long time since i got through far harbor and put the game back down. To me, the game looked nice, the story was meh, but some of the characters were just so perfect, divine and cute (Curie :messenger_blowing_kiss:).

Anyways, I picked up the scraps like vault tech workshop and Nuka World to fully complete my experience in FO4. I also didn't forget to wander about the now much more vast and robust halls of fan made mods. I'm automatically in love again. I found a Kriss Vector Mod, an ithica 37 mod, Heavy machine gun mods. Holy shit. Either i was not paying attention on nexus mods, or beauties like these were made between the time I was done playing for the moment up until now.

All I know is, I'm going back into a game I love, and holy shit am I ever increasing the variety of death and destruction I will reign upon anything that twitches or makes a sound. I remember I have 2 main save files. One for normal gameplay, and one for slaughtering every NPC including essentials......because simple console commands can turn an immortal individual into another body for the pile. And like any good or halfway decent Fallout or Elder Scrolls game, there is a slaughtering younglings mod no doubt. I haven't gotten around to looking yet, because 60 weapon mods is not enough.

Fallout 4...she has come back into my life fiercely and without restraint, but I embrace it. No need for a restraining order. Come for me Fallout 4 baby. I'll take it all. :messenger_smiling_hearts::messenger_smiling_hearts::messenger_smiling_hearts:

Ha ha ha. Obvious innuendo is well...obvious. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Such an amazing game, one of my favorite Fallouts. I might replay it too on PS4 Pro, I did look at it when I first got a Pro just to see how much better it looks and runs, but i might do another playthrough of just the main quest and my favorite side quest with mods.
