Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition

A little off-topic, but is it me or is it surreal that we are getting Fallout 4 so...abruptly. It's a game I've seen clamored throughout for years and now, boom, it's coming. Almost makes me feel more cynical than excited.

It's the opposite for me. I think I might be getting too excited and setting myself up for disappointment, but I can't help it. I honestly thought I was beyond getting this hyped up for game's release.

you are incorrect

BioShock Limited Edition
Sealed - $650
Open - $180
I'm starting to regret not getting the Survival Edition of Fallout 3. Even the packaging is really neat.

Should be one more for Xbone showing up at some point, went ahead and canceled mine. I decided I am just going to get the digital version since I already had the credit (Also World Series tickets are expensive).

It's not a matter of opinion. You won't get 60 bucks off of those collectibles ever. Special Editions exploit your feelings of hype to get you pay premium for cheap crap. It's an emotional purchase not based on logic but hype.

My e-bay listing history just called you a liar.

The hype is building up but I see these reselling for 50$ extra as a max.

After a year if there are no more in stock it could go for $500+ sealed, although that could change because months ago Bethesda said the stock was done and now they're restocking every other day.

Depends though, if the game's shite, the value will drop anyway.
And even in a year, if the supply is high, price won't go up as much.

But if these go 500$+ I'll eat my keyboard.

Bethesda swears they are not restocking and they are just relisting canceled orders.

Edit: and they are all now gone.

Some of that could be because of canceled pre-orders and them vetting the orders finding people pre-ordering using multiple accounts.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I've noticed the problem people have with amazon and canceling is changing their address (as noted in that thread on GAF a few days ago). I wouldn't be surprised if scalpers are just now switching their mail-to address and getting canceled by Bethesda / Amazon.

Likely. I fully expect these to go back on sale at Amazon because of canceled orders. Maybe the 10th.

50-100 extra right now on ebay. ANd yes, I'm paying attention cause at one point they were going for 300 and I was thinking of scalping the xbox one version I had to pay for my version (yes I'm evil but I also work for retail and this would have made it a lot easier on my budget and some one would have gotten a pip boy who obviously valued it at that if they were willing to pay that). But for what they are going now not really worth the hassle and worry that some one will end up scamming me (using the paypal is quicker to believe the buyer than the seller) so will get around to cancelling it (I'm a bit scared of doing so that some how my PS4 one will disappear, I'm just so paranoid of something going wrong).

(and I originally ordered the xbox one version when they were only promising mods for xbox one and decided I'd reserve one in case I got crazy enough to trade my PS4 for xbox just for that. Then came to my senses and decided if I'm going to get a computer for fallout mods I might as well go all the way and get a PC).

I have the FO3 lunch box and bobble head... Debating canceling my Pipboy pre-order... I just don't think I need it.

especially since I just bought some knockoff Back to the Future 2 Nike Mags

The novelty of having a robot hand from Metal Gear or an atomic bomb Fallout collection hasn't yet and this one actually has a use.

Admittedly, I'll use it like once before it lives on the robot hand, but that's fully expected.

Yeah I just feel like mid Deathclaw battle I'm not going to want to piss around with a touch screen.

To be honest I think the novelty of an actual Pip Boy will wear off pretty damn fast.

Mines for storage in my fallout cabinet. Not for wearing :)

I have all except the survivor edition when it comes to fallout, all opened and all displayed. And all the collectors editions look absolutely awesome displayed like this in a glass cabinet.

Oh yeah, I hate using those apps in games and I can see this being no different.

It's like the Fallout beer, I'm not buying it to drink... Unless there's an expected nuclear bomb about to land in my location and there is literally no other alcohol in the house.

Donwe known the specs for the app yet? Will be looking to get a cheap phone that fits in a couple of days.
It runs on iOS, Android, and Windows phones is all the info I could find. I would imagine it'll run on just about anything, but I know next to nothing about smartphones.

I could see how leaving the map screen open all the time might be useful. Especially if it updates in real time as you move around. Outside of that I don't see myself actually using the app.

For those that need a cheap phone for the pipboy, this ought to do the job and it's only $10

I ended up going with this one: LG Optimus Exceed 2. Best Buy had them for $14.99 and I had a little left over on a gift card, so I got it for about $1.

I can't find a straight answer on google. Will I be able to just connect via WiFi and download the app, or do I need to buy some pre-paid data plan card first?

Exactly how I feel. I was there when they showed the full trailer at the Bethesda Conference and it felt so far away but now we are here already...crazy.

Holy shit, that thing is HUGE! There's no way to play the game comfortably with that thing on your arm

Do you even lift brah?

Yeah, I am buying it because I just want it. I'm playing with it once then leaving it at that. It will probably be light as a feather, but it is bulky as shit.

That pip boy really does look cheap looking, like fisher price. Could they have went with a different casing than glossy plastic?
