Fallout Shelter |OT| Revolutionizing safety for an uncertain future

My only complaints so far are the goals stop giving you lunchboxes pretty quickly. I've got nothing but caps for a while now. Not sure how I get more equipment without paying real money. And also none of the events seem to do much damage. There was a raider attack and they basically just ran around mildly annoying people until the one guy with a gun killed them.

Yeah I got 2 or 3 launch boxes from goals right at the beginning and nothing for more than 5 hours of gameplay.

The only other way to get more equipment if exploring the wasteland. But I got a guy running around for 3 hours and he only found 2 shitty rusty guns (1 and 0-1 damage lol) and a coat that raises charisma.

I think putting them on the job they do best makes them happy. Keeping all your resources at a minimal level helps, as does making babies.

I think the rush percentage is only one factor (perhaps this is decided partly on the worker's SPECIALs), and the other factor is the time remaining until you harvest your resource. Or you were just really unlucky.

Keeping resources at minimal lvls helps? Because I have plenty. My guys are producing energy, water and food every 4 minutes which is more than enough for now.

Meh. Came back to it and had a raiding party absolutely decimate my vault dwellers while all resources had been used up.

Then it started crashing whenever I attempted to drag people around. That was fun.

I'm no longer quite as enthused as I was when I heard of this. It's clearly a F2P game with all that entails.

Yeah I think something like this will happen while I'm sleeping...

Also it seems the biggest danger at exploring the wasteland is radiation poisoning. It seems my explorer loses something like 1/6 of his health every 1.5 hours. You can't get that health back without radaways so I'm thinking of calling him back but I've got a 7 hour exploration goal worth 200 caps halfway done...

My explorer have 5 strength and he only takes 1 damage no matter what enemy he faces (for now, exploring for 3 hours). I gave him a fatman rocket launcher which does around 22 damage so I guess it helps.

Edit: Just as I was writing this his radiation damage increased another 1/6 and half his bar was gone with 3:42 hours. I called him back. I wonder if he will face enemies on the way back to the vault. It's been some minutes and he hasn't updated his journal yet. If calling explorers back only takes time and they don't face enemies or radiation anymore this will be too easy.

two questions:

1.) do i just have to wait for pregnant dwellers to give birth?
2.) will dwellers just randomly show up? Is there anything I can do to make sure they show up?

1 - Yes. I think it's around two hours. I have several children running through the base.
2 - Yeah they show randomly but as the game goes it seems dwellers appearances become quite rare. You can build a radio tower though. I attracts dwellers and helps the happiness rating of the ones already on your vault. Pick someone with high charisma to run it.

Pro tip: If a female dweller refuses to obey orders right after getting pregnant and won't leave quarters, quit the game and load it up again and she will go where you send her.

I think it's a bug. It happened quite often with me.

I'm going to turn the game off to sleep. Don't want to risk it without having more information about what can happen on the background. I think my vault is developing nicely.

Oh and after 20 minutes of calling my explorer back he still hasn't updated his journal yet. I'll send one useless guy with all stats 1 and only call him back at the last moment before his death to double check if you don't face dangers on the way back.

Guys what was the name of the IOS game Todd mentioned as one of the inspiration to FO Shelter?

He was talking about progress quest. But as far as I know that game was on PC only. On iOS someone has made a similar game called idle quest.

You do face dangers on your way back.

Just downloaded and tried for a bit, this game is pretty dope. Runs super smooth as well.

Thanks Todd!

Played for one, maybe two, hours om my iPad (3rd Gen). Closed it down, then came back again a few minutes later and the game crashes on start. Tried multiple times, restarting and waiting, but crashes the same time (the first loading after the Bethesda logo) every time.
Sad because I found it amusing so far, but will have to wait for the next patch.

I find it really stupid to release one platform after the other. I would have understand this decision 5 years ago, but with the current market I think it's really poor.

I like the game. I'm really interested though, if this clicker entertains me longer than all the others did in the past. Normally I get bored by them quite fast and forget to open the games to click things...
I runs buttery smooth and seems to be really polished.

Just a quick question, is there an end to the game or do you just keep playing forever? Not that interested if it is the latter.

In this day and age, if Beth is serious about a worldwide audience, having it ios only is downright mind boggling.

Well,
it looks like the available space to build new rooms is limited. But seeing how slow the game is progressing, it may take a while... ;)

Haha, two of my dwellers were flirting and the room suddenly burst into flames. Her next comment after they put the fire out was "Does it feel hot in here or is it just me?"

Good lord. The whining. It's Bayonetta 2 all over again. Apple helped develop it, likely wouldn't have happened otherwise.

It's a mediocre phone game. Nothing worth crying about.

I'm moving my pregnant women to the cafeteria and moving more couples to the living quarters, good tactic? lol

See, this just pisses me off. You see those two diners in the top right corner? If you place two next to each other, they're supposed to merge into one big one. Why is that not happening in some cases?

They have to be upgraded at the same level.

The reason why so many developers go iOS first (or exclusive) is because developers generally make more money on iOS. Sure, there are the outliers who make the same or more on Android, but that's an exception to the rule.

Possible reasons why, from BGR:

1. Android’s market share is strongest in relatively lower-income countries

2. Many people in those countries lack credit cards and Google has been very slow to offer carrier billing

3. Android phones average $250-$300 where iPhone average $600 – people who choose to spend the extra money are sending a signal about their intents. That is, we don’t know what the ARPU for a Galaxy S5 user is, but it’s probably very similar to an iPhone user – but Galaxy S5 users are a small minority of Android users

4. Apple offers a distinctly different proposition to Android: perhaps the people who are attracted to that proposition are just more likely to spend money – that is, maybe iPhone users do spend more than GS5 users.

5. Finally, this can become circular: if developers believe that Android users do not pay, then their behavior will be affected – they may offer a free ad-supported app instead of a paid app, or have a lower price. And if they decide not to support Android or support it second, then their users will gravitate to iPhone first, which becomes self-fulfilling. You can see this clearly on Android tablets – magazine apps have low use on Android so are slow to support Android, so users who want magazine apps don’t buy Android tablets.

Add to that the rampant piracy on the platform (only 5% of Monument Valley installs on Android were legitimate??) and you can maybe understand why Android is still the red-headed stepchild of the mobile app world for lots of developers.

Cool looking game, hopefuly android users will get it before F4 launch in October.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know about good game of similar type for android?

Piracy numbers wouldn't have mattered one bit in this case. It's a free to play game.

I want it on Android personally, but I understand why they might have chosen iOS first. Even without help from Apple, it's a more confined platform with fewer hardware configurations to support. And since this is Bethesda's first time out with a full mobile game, I can imagine they wanted to pick a single platform to start.

I still don't like it, but so rarely does a game start out on Android and migrate to iOS that I guess I'm just used to being second fiddle now. At least we know it's coming.

Which is why I never said they mattered for this game in particular, but for the Android app landscape as a whole (since "when's Android?" has become the rallying cry in so many threads like this across the internet). The answer is always money and piracy. I tried giving a possible look into why there isn't always an Android version of an app at the same time as its iOS counterpart.

Of course, sometimes there are moneyhats. But that's a different thread.

I'm not gaining any more dwellers. Is it completely randomized because it's irking me out? I can't build anything without people working on it.

I guess port begging doesn't apply to mobile games?

Looks good, gonna download it when I get home.

Yh i'm confused aswell, Every woman in my vault is pregnant but none of them have delivered yet. Need one more person to be able to build the science lab and haven't gained any dwellers in a while.
