Those numbers for the Switch are insane. I'm glad to see GOAT of Tsushima is selling well there too :)
According to gamstat player count, GOT is currently only trailing 1.7M behind TLOU2 despite huge launched of TLOU2 and more tracking days, if the trend still continues GOT will overtake TLOU2 player count.

Pretty absurd when a new ip is having a chance to outsell sequel to the best selling Sony 1st party game.

If you don't get why the Switch's selling like hotcakes in Japan by now than i am sorry but you're a retard who haven't been keeping up with Japan's console scene for the last 15 years.

Japan love mobile consoles. DS and 3DS was great for them, so NS will get high sales as well. Besides, nothing wrong with Japan loving Nintendo games.

I find amazing how GoT is getting attention as much as Nintendo games even Japan being a Nintendo land.

Japan was PS1/PS2 land until 2008, then Nintendo took over again.

Make the hardware they like and get the big Japanese companies to make games for it and they'll follow, handheld + Monster Hunter =$$$$$$
See the PSP/3DS and it's popularity in Japan.

It's good that both games are selling great and it just goes to show that Sony's 1st party studios are getting even more recognition and are still improving

You're not getting, do you? I not talking about sales dude, I talking about a cultural process. Even if Japan was until 2008 a Playstation Land, thats don't mean Nintendo not...

Brand, chars, legacy, merchandise...

You know both can coexist, right?
I get it, my point was to get successful in Japan just make a handheld/hybrid that has the support of the big boys especially Capcom and MH and make it reasonably cheap (under 350-300$) and you'll be successful.

If you look at how many new players these games add per day, GoT is doing that at a faster pace than TLOU2 launch-aligned outside of the first few days. Horizon is also having a larger baseline than TLOU2, as well.

July-August, 2 months? The market has shrunk dramatically since the 2000s and early 10s. They look like single-week M-C numbers for Nintendo/Sony/MS platforms during 7th gen

To be fair it's not a normal year, but 2019 sales weren't that much better iirc

I won't.

It was tracking well after the release because of the sales in Japan.

The sales are slowing down and it won't take over TLOU 2.

Nintendo Switch this week sales number is bigger than PS4 and XBO in 2 months combined.

Yes he is. The first mention was about the player base (gamestat), not about the sales.
No his reply is about player counts comparing TLOU 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. He said GOT is only 1.7 million players behind. TLOU 2 has 6.3 million players, GOT has 4.6 million not Japan sales like the thread topic

Surreal Switch numbers! Also very surprised and happy by the amount of PS4 titles there, specially how well GoT sold (it is a western IP on a smaller user base after all).

Two takeaways:

(1) Nintendo Switch is straight murdering the other gaming mainstays, which is not surprising because it's a Japanese homebody but also because the other devices have zero portability for a market that can't live without it. That said, are the sales tracking any segment of the mobile market? Curious to know how much money has shifted that direction because it's far more than either the US or Europe.

(2) Japanese gamers have some really strange software preferences which are wholly unique to them.

And just to reiterate, Famitsu is straight garbage. They can never erase the stain of awarding perfect scores to titles in the FFXIII saga.

Prediction - PS5+XSX launch number will be lowered than NSW hardware sales in that week.

Nice to get some numbers with regards to sales of Ghost of Tsushima in Japan. This all but guarantees a sequel not just for the US, but the Japanese market as well. Well deserved.

3rd Party Exclusives on Switch: 5
Multi-plats: 4

3rd Parties have successfully handed Japan to Nintendo, the only Sony 3rd Party exclusives in 2020 that are exclusive due to technical limitations of the Switch are pretty much just Final Fantasy and Resident Evil- everything else is based on bias or miscalculations while determining target platforms. The funniest part is that if Monster Hunter Switch is launched this holiday it would outsell 2020 PS4 Top 25 Software on its own lifetime. Big Japanese 3rd Parties and their galaxy brains face some of their franchises becoming pretty much irrelevant in Japan if they continue with the same policy.

At least there are some bright signs that this fall won't be just Nintendo/Pokemon Company show even if Capcom doesn't end up launching Monster Hunter on the Switch. Taiko no Tatsujin RAP, Bravely Default 2, Rune Factory 5, Momotaro Dentetsu, Atelier 2, SMT III Nocturne, PuyoPuyo 2 is a decent fall line-up when we add eBaseball & Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles which already launched. The worrying part is we haven't seen Bravely 2 or RF5 - also Imagineer has another fitness game I expect to do very well FiNC HOME FiT. Human Fall Flat is an indie that is also doing great in Japan another game that will provide over 100K physical sales by the looks of things.

2017 3rd Party Support(2H) with over 50K Sales LTD

  5. Fire Emblem Warriors (Koei) - 64.747
2018 3rd Party Support(2H) with over 50K Sales LTD

  9. My Hero Academia: One's Justice (Bandai) - 52.350
2019 3rd Party Support(2H) with over 50K Sales LTD
  1. Dragon Quest XI S (Square) - 545.836
  2. Fishing Spirits (Bandai) - 480.613
  3. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (Sega) - 333.678
  4. Disney Tsum Tsum Festival (Bandai) - 149.562
  5. Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (Marvelous) - 146.363

  7. SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays (Bandai) - 60.173
  8. FIFA 20 (EA) - 56.886

The biggest failure remains Level-5, congrats on making the rest of these companies support seem decent... I guess. Going from a Top 3 Publishers on the 3DS to whatever they are on the Switch is surely a cautionary tail.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
My goodness at that hardware!!

I had a lot of fun at the time of the DS (circa 2005/6), and thought it would N.E.V.E.R. happen again...

And here we are!!
