The PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree ranked 1st and 4th in their first appearance.

This is a bundled version of the action RPG Elden Ring which released in 2022 with the additional downloadable content Shadow of the Erdtree.

New weapons, items, and enemies have been added allowing you to enjoy more difficult adventures and battles and the cumulative sales of both versions has reached 31,020 units.

Among the new releases Radiant Silvergun ranked 7th and Psychic Horror ADV Series Complete Collection Shiin x NG x Shika ranked 10th.

The former is the Nintendo Switch version of a vertical scrolling shooter game released in arcades in 1998. The latter is a compilation of a Japanese horror adventure series depicting encounters with supernatural events and monsters and both titles are sure to sell well in the future.

Quite a drop for SMTVV there, which is expected for a JRPG, but it's good to see it's still charting high.

Elden Ring also had decent sales, which is nice considering this SKU is a repackaged version of the base game that includes the new DLC as a voucher code.

HW sales look similar to the past week, so there's not much to say there. Although I had hoped that the latest Direct would help move a bit more NSW units.

SMTV was a re-release which never do as well as the original, and the Switch market is completely saturated, so significant spikes in hardware sales at this point in the lifecycle would be highly irregular.

how is mario kart 8 deluxe still on there? Who doesn't have it by this point? I honestly don't get whats so great about the game. Sure its a fun party game from time to time, but unless you are having people over all the time its not something i would pop in to just play single player. Other race games are much better and offer career mode progressions. So many other Nintendo games that deserve the sales more imo.

As for Elden ring DLC, cool that it got #1. Also cool that SMT5 vengeance got #2 spot. Well deserved, have it in my backlog, although can't decide on what direction to go , Keep the girl (new story) or send her off (original). only played 4 hours of original game.

Also what is up with DLC being priced $40. Is this a proper expansion not just a few quests and some armor? Does it change the base game or addon content to those who beat the base game?

The numbers in Japan compared to the previous gen have cratered for everyone. Is it the mobile and pc rise or what?

The quote mechanic won't work for some reason but even that is pretty awful. FF7 Rebirth's sales (probably around 500k with digital) as just a PS5 release seem less awful after looking at how low most software sales are on PS5 in Japan.

I was eyeing that Ghostly Horror game in Play Asia, there's a bunch of horror games that are coming in this semester which I want to buy but somehow Play Asia didn't like my credit card :-/

The game alongside Animal Crossing, Minecraft and even Splatoon 3 have multiplayer elements.

It’s no surprise why those games are selling well in every market.

With 38,000 Switchs sold this week, it looks like there were at least 6,000 people who didn't already own the platform and decided to pick up MK8 physically.
I was talking about software sorry.
Switch has already sold more games in Japan than any other platform in history (232.72 million as of 31 December 2023 without including digital only games).

It also holds the record for best selling game in Japan and highest ever physical launch. Doesn't have as many million sellers as the NES or DS though.

Things just look bad now as it's a platform in its 8th year and it's H1 2024 lineup was quite bad. H2 lineup is much better.

Even with a solid lineup, I’m still not expecting stellar software sales again until Switch 2. The piracy situation is out of control and legit buyers have giant backlogs since it’s so deep into the lifecycle now.

We’ll see some lift here and there, but Nintendo really needs to get the Switch 2 out to the public.

These are the numbers for the complete edition physical re-release of Elden Ring with Shadow of the Erdtree included, most people bought the expansion as DLC for their base copy.

The expanded re-releases peaked with Dark Souls AOTA in 2012, with Dark Souls 2 SOTFS in 2015 being the worst-selling of the bunch. Pretty much a worthless metric to judge PS5's software performance for.

Not stellar, but a lot better. I don't think any Switch game released this year so far has crossed 300,000 in total sales.

In H2, we should see Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Dragon Quest III and Mario & Luigi Brother all clear that lifetime (some of these will go much higher than 300,000).

For 2025, we could be seeing a great year for Japan software.

MH Wilds, GTA VI and Ghost of Tsushima 2 (if it comes) could be the three best selling PS5 games for its whole run.

And then on top of that we'll have Pokémon Legends ZA, plus we should get a strong Switch 2 launch window lineup of both first and third party games.7

Agreed, we don't need to use one game when we already know PS5's total physical software sales.

Persona 5 back in the top 30. I never saw it coming.

Also looks like LM2 adverts are giving LM3 a boost.

There's a very real chance that later this year we three Mario Partys on the chart at the same time....
