[Weekly software and hardware sales figures] Mario Kart World tops the charts for the fifth consecutive week! Puchi Puchi Omisetchi and Death Stranding 2 also do well. Super Mario Party Jamboree, which will soon be released for the Switch 2, also makes a comeback [6/30 - 7/6]

Sales ranking announced by Famitsu. This time, we bring you a summary of estimated weekly sales figures for video games and hardware from June 30 to July 6, 2025 in Japan.

The top three spots remained unchanged from last week with Mario Kart World, Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisetchi Omashita! and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach ranking in. Mario Kart World has topped the charts for five consecutive weeks.

Coming in sixth place is Tamagotchi's Puchi Puchi Omisetchi: Thank you for waiting! Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with the cumulative sales of both Puchi Puchi Omisetchi titles reaching 159,062 units.

Among them, one thing worth noting is Super Mario Party Jamboree, which has risen significantly from 12th place last week to 5th place.

Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2025 but if you own the Nintendo Switch version you can play the game by purchasing an upgrade pass (2,000 yen [tax included]). It seems that many users decided to purchase it at this time in anticipation of this.

Turning our attention to hardware, the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to perform well this week. It has recorded good sales of 128,643 units and although it depends on the number of units shipped, we can expect further sales growth as we enter the summer vacation season.

I wonder how many PS4s have been sold globally now

Last update we had was 117.2 million as of March 2022

I don't recall people rushing to the stores and literally making out of stock the disk drive add-on because of the PS5 DE.

Besides, I'm talking about the 'PS5 DE', not about the PS5pro, as you can see, they are separated in the sales chart. People are buying more PS5pro than PS5 DE, so there is nothing about being digital the main factor.

Just like the DE.

Dude honestly just stop trying this low ass effort posts. You know exactly what I'm talking about.
A person can NOT buy a PS5 Pro Physical because there is no Physical edition. They need to buy Pro and buy the physical disk.
A person doesn't need to buy the PS5 Digital edition, because theres the physical edition.

Its not the same thing, It can be physical if I remember correctly.
So it's exactly the same thing. Both can be digital or later changed to be able to accept discs.
Price/stock can play a part in it, or changing your mind later.

Eh, I don't think giving people the choice was a mistake. If Sony thought it was a mistake, they wouldn't have made a digital slim, and Pro digital.

I don't think Sony did PRO digital for giving people choise lmao. Probably for the price.

And I don't think Sony would expect a very expensive version beating the cheap one.

Dude nobody buy a PRO because is digital. Get real lmao.

I wouldn't/haven't. I would need the disc drive.
People these days are all in on digital though.

It is not. Just stop.
Normal versions of PS5 give choices. The Pro version not.
If they have launched the physical version of PS5 PRO, the split would be similar to the normal versions. Why? Because people prefer the physical version, thats why.

Oh I agree with you, I would take a Pro with a drive over a digital one. Fuck the all digital future.
I'm just saying they are both sold as digital with the option of the drive at a later date (if needed). Not sure about Japan, but other places are high % digital, which sucks.

Personally I went with the PS5 w/disc drive purely for Blu-Ray + my small # of physical PS4 games. I haven't bought a single physical PS5 game. Wonder how many others did the same.
I did the same too. Got the PS4 (Pro) during covid, so pretty much every game was close to 0$, ported over to PS5, didn't need a disk version.

But I regret a bit now, I want to go back to physical

Digital in general is a way of giving people choice. And Sony benefits by having a lower cost sku.

Doesn't matter. Sony did PRO digital for reduce the best they could with the price and we still got that salty price. Would be the same or even better if PRO had the disk media.

Just stop dude. Admit you just get trigged by my comment. We are just running in circles. lmao.

'Giving options'. Sony don't give shit. You only can get one PRO model.

I have an OG disk PS5.

Year over year the market is up by about 6% mainly due to the launch of the Switch 2

Switch is down 26% YoY as evergreen sales on the system have slowed down compared to last year while not receiving any major titles thus far this year. Still with Pokemon, DQI&II Remakes in the fall it should stack up favorably with last years major fall games Jamboree & DQIIIR so the decline will probably be under 25% YoY. Switch ended up with 9 million software sold last year within the Top 50 this year, so over 6.5 million this year is what we are likely going to see but Pokémon Legends: Z-A potentially could upend this by outperforming my current expectations which would be 2.5 million for the year on the Switch

So far only four Switch 2 have managed to crack the Top 50 with Mario Kart World topping the Top 50 in a matter of weeks. Donkey Kong Bananza we can expect around ~150K launch and legs so it should slot in the Top 10 post launch and climb up the rankings for the remainder of the year, potentially hitting 500K+ sales by EOY. With good WoM its possible that Bananza actually outperforms this but so far going off pre-order data thats what I'm expecting. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is definitely the other game that should surpass 1 million physical on the Switch 2 in 2025.

Despite the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds PlayStation Ecosystem is down about 6.5%, Ghost of Yotei is the game with the highest potential for the rest of the year but it remains to be seen if it can match DQIIIR from last year as most sequels have had 50% drop compared to the PS4 entries. Last year PlayStation ecosystem ended up with about 1.8 million units across the Top 50 however it was a weaker overall year for the Switch ecosystem so a lot more PS5/PS4 titles ended up ranking in the Top 50, this year we are looking at about 5-10 titles from the PS5 to rank in the Top 50 with only Wilds and Yotei surpassing 200K so I expect to see over 15% decline YoY

Top 10 Publishers
  1. Nintendo - 3.043.652 (55.3%)
  2. Capcom - 816.454 (14.8%)
  3. Other - 387.820 (7%)
  4. Bandai Namco - 263.946 (4.8%)

  8. Microsoft - 166.281 (3%)
  9. Level 5 - 141.175 (2.6%)

Top 10 Publishers
  1. Nintendo - 2.568.795 (49.4%)
  2. Square Enix - 375.610 (7.2%)
  3. Sony - 366.981 (7%)
  4. Other - 339.221 (6.5%)
  5. Konami – 329.325 (6.3%)
  6. Sega - 309.602 (6.1%)

  9. Microsoft - 165.423 (3.2%)
  10. Spike Chunsoft - 138.824 (2.7%)
  11. Cygames - 91.491 (1.8%)

So far we are pretty much guaranteed Nintendo & Pokemon Co will be the #1 & #2 publisher by the end of the year.

We will see what other games get announced by third parties for the fall as so far Elden Ring(FromSoftware), DQI&IIR(Square Enix), Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment(Koei Tecmo), Everybody's Golf Hot Shots(Bandai Namco), Elden Ring(FromSoftware), Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road(Level 5), Professor Layton and the New World of Steam(Level 5), Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar(Marvelous) & Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion(Marvelous) are the only ones with potential of charting at the EOY Top 50 but we are likely to see more games revealed by the end of September.

Wilds ended up with 50% decline and much worse legs than Monster Hunter World so Capcom might not even manage to remain the #3 publisher by end of the year as so far there is nothing announced that would help them surpass 1 million units in the Top 50 physical rankings.

if there is a surprise overperformance by one of the other third party publishers (Bandai Namco, Level 5 or Marvelous) they could easily end up snatching the Top Third Party spot.

Fantasy Life i was the Top selling title on the Switch eShop in H1 greatly outperforming its physical sales in the first half of the year, it displaying good legs and a Switch 2 SKU is about to drop in August, so we are likely looking at 300K+ physical units by end of the year, if Inazuma Eleven or Professor Layton end up launching in 2025 with the same kind of good WoM its very possible for Level 5 to be one of the Top third party publishers by the end of the year for the first time since their 3DS days when Yo-Kai was challenging Pokemon in Japan. So far the redemption ark is off to a great start but we will see what happens with the upcoming titles.

Marvelous is also well positioned with Guardians of Azuma seemingly on its way to match Rune Factory 5 due to stronger legs after a smaller launch. Grand Bazaar is the title that could finally push them to the next level if it has the needed level of polish as the prior entry in the franchise Olive Town had a big launch but bad WoM due to being pushed out when it was obviously not ready. Daemon X Machina is another title that could see a greater result on the Switch 2 compared to Switch so obviously from a third party perspective Marvelous has done a great job to ensure three major IPs launch during the Switch 2's launch year which will help with strong legs if all three are well received. Could be the first time in their history they manage over 1 million physical units in an year.

Bandai Namco's ability to have casual hits on the Switch in Japan is somewhat underestimated but Taiko and Fishing Spirits both managed to hit over 1 million units when we account digital sales. Tamagotchi is their latest hit and honestly I dont think Famitsu's numbers make much sense the game should easily be over 200K physical already based on the Amazon.co.jp results we saw - probably when M-C releases the Top 1000 next year there would be a huge discrepancy between the trackers. Next important casual title is Everybody's Golf its definetly a game that has a long term potential to be revived on Nintendo's ecosystem but we will see how its received.

Square have DQI&IIR, FFT and FFVIIR so they also do have enough titles to hit 1 million but its questionable how much the DQ remakes will sell as III was definitely the bigger deal, Tactics as a franchise is unlikely to hit over 200K without some stellar WoM & legs, while FFVIIR is a very old port so I'm not expecting much as the early buyers of the Switch 2 are likely the same people that own all systems and already played it on the PS4.

Koei
's situation puts them in the middle of the park... having a new Hyrule Warriors is definetly great for them but Wild Hearts was a flop already so not expecting much from that title. Still Age of Imprisonment is a title that could hit 500K units so that definetly gives them an outside shot to be one of the Top publishers this year.

Kadokawa probably has more titles besides Elden Ring / Duskbloods in the works with Spike Chunsoft obviously being the more likely to reveal something by end of the year. In the end it does seem that the Group as a whole should be a big supported of the Switch 2 in the coming years.

Sega/Atlus, Konami & Microsoft are the ones that dont have anything major slated for the fall... we will see how things change
