I just finished the first 4 episodes. Keep in mind that I only skimmed over the Animenfo description, as it seemed to have spoilers.

So far, I'm liking it alot. The animation has a very old-school look to it that reminds me of Giant Robo or Future Boy Conan, and I like the style. The show itself is very mysterious, melancholy, and creepy at times. It also has some intense, nicely animated, and well coreographed action scenes.

The story is getting pretty interesting and there's alot going on so far. The show covers alot of time periods and locations, from the mid 1800's in Holland, the early 1900's in Sweden, and the near future of 2012 in South America, and there are a group of children who, for some reason, have survived through all of these times.

If you're looking for something with a mysterious and complex story, I'd recommend checking it out. It can't hurt. On the other hand, if you want mindless fun and entertaining eye-candy, you should probably look elsewhere.

Was wondering when a thread like this would pop up.

Personally, I am enjoying it all. The animation and quality is great, music is even better and the storyline is probably the best so far out of the new season - simply due to the fact that in 4 episodes it has made me ask about a dozen questions already. If you want a good storyline then this is easily one to grab.

As for the children surviving constantly, it hasn't been fully stated as of yet, but they are resurrected each 100 years.

It's really good, story&atmosphere driven with an oldschool feel. On my scale of things it's zillion times better than mass-appeal generic shounens like Bleach. Also I advise not to read anything about the show, so you can be even more confused about what's going on heh. Oh and OP song is wonderful, have chills every time i'm listening to it.

OK now that I've watched episodes 1-5, Fantastic Children is so far the best of the new season. And it’s pretty damn refreshing too.


Bandai got itself an awesome anime. Go watch it people. XD

Nice to see how one of the children 'loses' his/her self. Things are getting a bit clearer. Obviously they're from another planet/dimension and are stuck on earth. But why only live for 11 years? Why do they die and how do they get resurrected? Why are they looking for that girl? Lots of questions to answer. Each episode is revealing a bit though, so we'll get there eventually. :lol

I heard on the group's irc channel that Fantastic Children might end up as a 52 episode series. That’s definitely good news.

Just finished episode 12. Wow, just wow. The pacing on this show is so amazingly good. It's obvious they have everything planned out completely so each episode starts and ends exactly how they want it to. Looks like ep13 is going to be a big big reveal. I can't stop raving about how good the directing, writing, music and characters are in this show, it's just mindblowing. Definitely series of the year for me. 12 down, 14 more to go.

I should have my left arm amputated for waiting this long to watch episode 8.

It was as good as all the FC episodes -- which means it rocked. I don’t think this series will ever have a really bad episode. The quality is just amazing and it just feels like they have a huge story and we're just at the beginning. The last few minutes of ep 8 were the best.

I was literally on the edge of my seat thinking "GO GO GO!!!" but than she saw her father.

Getting to know Thoma's family some more wasn't bad either. I have a feeling Thoma will be leaving soon though to look for that place.

Erm, "heard" from who? It's been confirmed by the director in even in recent interviews and in the recent website update that it's a pre-planned 26 eps saga.

Edit: Oh and ep14 was a recap ep with no new footage at all. I guess ep15 airing in 20 minutes should make up for that.

Yeah, I usually don't usually watch subs unless they're military and scifi talkies like Gasaraki or Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex. Ep15 of F-Children has aired btw.

Haha, the subs are still 7 eps behind (soon to be 8). With ep19 airing tomorrow, I hope the loooong flashback will come to an end. It's really interesting and there's great stuff, but with 7 eps left after 19, they need to start building up for the big climax.

I watched the first 7 eps and tried very hard to like it but every damn character pissed me off. :lol The Future Boy Conan-esque boy was the only one I could stand. The perpetually pissed off short dude was the main offender...he needs a good punch in the face.

Interesting concept, though. Just not my cup of tea.

HOLY SHIT!

Ep15-19 were SO FUCKING GOOD! The pacing and structure of the show is so perfect it's really blowing me away. Can't wait to get the DVDs. Once again ep15-19 = mindblowingly good anime! If it was put together into a movie, it would be a fucking solid 2 hour sci-fi anime movie.

I don't watch subs, the show airs Monday late-nights. It's up to 19 now, 20 is next week.

Oh and when they sub ep13, it'll be a great midpoint. Ep1-13 are basically one complete arc. Ep14 is a recap.

Ok so the zone is a dimension of the dead or something. How does that help in freakin' space travel? Also, why are the scientists only reborn every 100 years and die/disappear at 11? Still not explained. And why the hell did they 'send' (again what exactly happened there) the princess in the first place? They made it sound like there was war or something, but the king was furious and now they spent 500 years tracking her down so obviously people are alive on their planet and it's not impossible for her to live there...
