Absolutely pathetic part deux
Yo cats, Fantastic Fest is almost here and I believe at least a couple of kids are going to Fantastic Fest this year.

Here is my schedule so far:

For a special viewing of Stingray Sam (from the director of the super duper American Astronaut), they are hosting it on the internet on the night of the 15th this month with a Q and A afterwards:

Also, if they are going to have online showings like they did last year, they should be announced tomorrow. I am hoping Metropia is one of them since it looks like I can't fit it in my schedule. Ah well.

What is on everyone else's schedule?

So...Robogeisha is now the first Secret Screening more than likely from the word on the street (and the picture for it on the Secret Screening #1 icon). I know there are least 3 people who are going from this board.

HUZZAH!!!! Best film fest EVAR!!!

I was thinking about doing this topic, but I am too lazy. :D

I have a festival pass and will try to review each film I see. Aiming for five a day.

Yeah me too. What is your schedule?

I haven't done it yet. I suppose I should probably do it sooner rather than later.

I wish I had purchased VIP passes when I had the chance. Will not make the same mistake again. It makes things so much easier. I had one last year, kinda lucked into it.

Maybe you should list some of the big names in the OP. There are a lot of high-profile flicks this year. Some have even had GAF threads made about them. Perhaps you could link to those threads?

Yeah, I could do that. That sounds like so much work though. :lol

Hey you know what, I think we were the first people on this board that actually saw Let the Right One In. That is pretty radical to think about.

Definitely the first people to see Tokyo Gore Police.

You've gone a couple of times, have you been rejected for any shows before? I did last year but not as much as I thought I would especially having to buy tickets for every show I wanted to go to (mostly just the secret screenings except I got into Rock N Rolla, and missed Chaser and Tokyo Gore Police).

Not that I can remember. But I think the fest is getting more popular, so I wouldn't rule it out this year.

What films have you heard having big buzz so far other than Paranormal Activity, Breathless (this movie is fucking great, you better watch it), Crazy Racer, REC 2, Terribly Happy (pretty decent too), and well obviously Antichrist (I should watch that tomorrow)?

Used the schedule tool and came up with this as a rough outline of what I plan on seeing this year at the festival. Unfortunately, I was not able to fit Zombieland, Kenny Begins, Macabre, Paranormal Activity, Antichrist, Doghouse, Toy Story 1+2 3D, Doghouse, or Clive Barker's Dread. The list does not include scheduled parties or shorts.

I will be seeing these:

Gentlemen Broncos

Solomon Kane

REC 2

Kamogawa Horumo - Battle League in Kyoto

Krabat

Secret Screening 1 (allegedly Robogeisha)

Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl

Tokyo Onlypics 2008

Under the Mountain

Yatterman

Survival of the Dead

The Future of 3D

The Legend is Alive

Groper Train : Wedding Capriccio

Truffe

Secret Screening 3

Bronson

House of the Devil

Hard Revenge Milly & Hard Revenge Milly: Bloody Battle

Salvage

Rampage (Uwe Boll in the house!)

Ninja Assassin

Secret Screening 4

The Children

K-20: The Fiend with 20 Faces

Fish Story

Avatar Sneak Preview Footage

Human Centipede

House (Hausu) - saw it recently and need to see it again!

District 13: Ultimatum

Fireball

Daybreakers

These are pretty decent. You should for sure watch Breathless if you can. It is in my top 3 of the year so far. Also Terribly Happy is really good too in a Coen Brothers sort of way and A Dirty Mind is nice fun too.

Krabat

Fireball

These films were just ok. Krabat has nice atmosphere but the final act is shakey while Fireball has some good "fireball" choreography with Bourne shaky cam but it is pretty forgettable.

K-20: The Fiend with 20 Faces

And this film I thought was mostly terrible and is filled with annoying Japanese over actors.

This shit starts tomorrow! Does anyone want to have a meet-up (ok, so I think it is just you Count and a superior junior member that is going but still, we should meet up at some point).

Some highlights: Revenant is the best horror comedy since Shaun of the Dead easily, Gentleman Broncos is fucking terrible, Macbre shows that the Mo Brothers are going to be well respected in the horror community, Breathless is still my favorite film of the year, and I still fucking rule the school. Also, Men who Stare at Goats was ok.
