Whichever actress is more attractive aside, the issue with Alba's Sue is that in the comics Sue is a genius, not on a the level of Reed, but still extremely brilliant. I can buy Vanessa Kirby as highly intelligent, whereas watching Jessica Alba trying to play Sue that way is as convincing as watching an elementary school production of Hamlet.

Huge miscast. Joseph Quinn is a less convincing blond than Jessica Alba in 2005.

Rivaled only by Denise Richards' turn as nuclear physicist Christmas Noel in that Bond film.

I know some SMOKING HOT really smart women but it is a very hard role to pull off.
 
Since the rage merchants have never picked up a F4 comic in their life, this universe's Surfer is based on Frankie Raye who in the comics was a girl Johnny was dating only to find out she was the herald of Galactus. It's not known if that storyline is in the movie or not. She went on later to be Nova.

Oh, good example. I knew there was another one I was thinking of, and I finally got it, Tara Reid being an archaeologist in the Alone in the Dark movie……although for THAT film that's merely one mistake in a MOUNTAIN of mistakes when it comes to that film.

Funnily enough, The Incredibles made Fox change the ending to their first F4 movie. Originally the ending of the F4 movie had Mole Man appearing, but because of the Underminer ending in The Incredibles they changed it.

The best way to describe F4 is Marvel's Lost in Space. It's ALWAYS been a family sitcom about explorers who just happened to have super powers. Matt Fraction's run on F4 understood that assignment when he literally made them lost in space and it was awesome.

The way I see this going is:

Galactus comes to Earth. The F4 are the only heroes on this alternate Earth. They try to defeat him, fail, and their Earth is destroyed. Reed, the F4, and Doom escape their universe using Reed's multiverse bridge and arrive in the 616 universe in present day.

In Doomsday, Doom tries to use Reed's multiverse tech to take over the multiverse but causes incursions everywhere and EVERYTHING is destroyed.

The movies released between Doomsday and Secret Wars (Spider-Man and possibly Doctor Strange 3) are set on Battleworld.

Secret Wars is then Endgame x9000 with Hugh Jackman, Toby Maguire, and every MCU & Fox on-screen character vs Doom. Doom's defeated and possibly Franklin Richards creates the new MCU with existing characters, the X-Men, F4, Spider-Man, and old characters recast (Black Panther, Cap, Widow, IM) all existing in the same universe for the first time.

I agree. It's what "has" to happen although, I don't know if this is Doom Secret Wars or the other guy...and since he's only been mentioned on the Cartoon Moon Girl and Devil Dinasaur, I hazard to think they are bringing him to the big screen yet. Although he was voiced Larry Fishbourne so there is some pedigree there.

Just watched it.

Just didn't appeal for some reason. I'm actually kind of a Marvel fan boy too, but FF just never really grabbed me. Doesn't make me mad either, I think the film will probably be fine, but it just didn't make me wanna watch it. I will admit that I think Thing looks pretty bad, but I like Pedro as Reed, he seems to work. Galactus is a big deal villain for Marvel, but I've always found him a bit boring admittedly, however I love Doom, so I might skip this one but I hope they set Doom up pretty well and that his next appearance is pretty compelling. Overall, I don't begrudge people being excited or disappointed; I suppose I could empathize with both emotions in equal measure if I cared about FF more.

It's Doom Secret Wars. Always was based on the Hickman one, most of the MCU is built off Hickman.

Beyonder was going to be a Kang variant in the MCU. But he was a dumbass.

I can't comment on certain character/runs, but:

Avengers 1 having Loki as the villain seems inspired from the very first Avengers issue ever as he was also the villain there.
Avengers 2 draws from Ultron Unlimited (despite ironically there being an Age of Ultron comic, but the movie has nothing in common with the comic despite the same name) by Kurt Busiek.
Winter Soldier is mostly Ed Brubaker inspired.
Civil War does change almost everything from the comic, but still the comic is Mark Millar.
Infinity War/Endgame obviously changes a ton as well, but draws primarily from Infinity Gauntlet by Jim Starlin (yes, I know Hickman's Infinity was relevant as well, but Thanos successfully wiping out half the universe is all Infinity Gauntlet).
Hawkeye is heavily based on the Matt Fraction run.
Thor 4 draws mostly from Jason Aaron to my knowledge.

And then even with Hickman's Avengers run, I can't imagine the films of Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Shang-Chi, etc. and the shows of WandaVison, Falcon, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, etc. were influenced by Hickman's work much, especially since outside of Avengers, he's mostly done Fantastic Four and X-men whose films were all written as non-MCU films (so I'm not counting them being retconned in, talking about how they were originally written) until Deadpool and Wolverine.

And while the MCU FF films may draw from Hickman's runs (but I'd be very shocked if they don't take plenty from other beloved runs like John Byrne's and Mark Waid's), I feel it's unlikely the X-men films will draw from Hickman anytime soon. I feel Krakoa is a concept that works best if mutants have been around for a long time in a continuity like the comic stories obviously did, but for a whole new cast of X-men in the MCU films, rushing into Krakoa would be confusing and could easily alienate viewers from the new cast (as the concept in the comics did alienate some readers and that was in spite of there being decades of stories of mutant persecution in the comics that would logically lead the X-men to finally carry out a plan like this, so a new MCU X-men cast pulling a Krakoa would feel massively unearned).

And now Hickman in terms of Marvel seems mostly interested in working in the new Ultimate Marvel universe, and given its vastly different status quo due to the specific nature of its creation and how its timeline played out, I highly doubt it will influence the MCU much for the foreseeable future.

-sure, but I was primarily talking about the Bucky element. Also, to my understanding, the concept of SHIELD being infiltrated with HYDRA was actually first explored in Warren Ellis' Nextwave (but with the organizations having different names because it was supposed to be non-canon but then it was changed to canon later)

-and they're largely irrelevant except for action scene purposes save for Ebony Maw, and Thanos himself is given all the characterization, especially in Endgame

Beyonder as a Kang variant is pretty stupid on the surface but in fairness, I've never been a huge Kang fan and I wasn't too thrilled by what the MCU did with him either. It all looked hokey....

Nope. What is now "Avengers: Doomsday" was once "Avengers: Kang Dynasty" ... It was announced like 5 years ago.

Kang was to be the big bad of the whole Multiverse Saga

FUCK?! I knew there was The Kang Dynasty but I still thought it was leading to DOOM especially with there being a Fantastic Four movie coming out first. I know Kang fights Reed multiple times in the comics and I think he (Kang) is a direct descendant of Reed but having the whole thing center around weak ass Kang was a choice before Johnathan Majors fumbled the bad.


Maybe it could have worked but I have serious reservations about all of that.

I was excited by the prospect of the first 30 minutes
where Galcitus shows up and eats the fuck out of their universe then they are whisked off to current MCU by Dr. Strange.

This now sounds like more of the same awful; MCU/Disney we have had for the last few years.

Unless they take a sharp left turn and introduce The Maker in the last 30 minutes of the movie.

Marvel has learned NOTHING from mother Disney, sister Lucasfilm, or any of the (numerous) retrospective looks back at why they had titanic success and then it all seemed to slip away.

No one is gonna give a shit about 'girlboy' Johnny Storm. What arc can such a milquetoast character go on? He isn't gonna be a fun "bad boy" who can then be tamed, which is a romantic path women ADORE (and was played to perfection with Tony Stark, to some extent Thor and Starlord). He isn't likely to even be "fun" but sexless. He's highly likely to be a preachy twat no one can stand.

Sue could have been an embodiment of femininity with how she corrals Reed and directs his energies, playing up her humanity and female traits to counterbalance his obsessive compulsions and lack of empathy by "managing the household" but we the audience can see that she is the glue holding it all together. Instead she is very likely to just come off as somewhat bitchy and instead of a partnership with Reed, it will seem very transactional and feel forced. Wonder if the two actors have any real chemistry.
