Far Cry Primal uses the same map (heavily updated) as Far Cry 4.

........im like laughing because I have no idea what you are talking about anymore.

....I don't know why Cross felt the urge to comment on my post that literally was laughing about how ubisoft can be lazy too and had nothing to do about any type of critique on how good or bad the game is and if the area is the same as far cry 4 and now here you are trying to what? Call me out for a shitpost? Because I said ubisoft can be lazy too... For a height map. Lol!!

I don't even know why I entertained this lol!

This is longest defense of a pretty simple, dumb shit post I've seen.

I swear some people think game development is just dragging and dropping stuff from one place to another.

Proper, deep rooted ignorance.

.... ... You know what. You guys are right. I shouldn't have made a joke about the map and ubisoft (aka shit posting). Sorry...

Clearly "lazy" is the problematic term that I used and what clearly is causing thread controversy on top of another stupid controversy over a map.

Let me take this L because this thread and picture attached had much to engage with in the first place and I just refused to engage with whatever it was I guess.

And let me also give an extended sorry for my "defense" of my tasteless joke because the similarities of the height maps are non existent and it's not fair to the devs that they took the time to make them very different in scope. Bye.

Are you blind or just being ignorant?

This is a small section of the map and there are way more differences than I can point out with MS Paint. This also doesn't show you how completely different the map feels from the ground.

Ubsisoft earned their rep. Now they have to change that perception.

How about we judge the game for the game, rather than for being an Ubisoft title? Primal is an immensely fun game, feels incredibly refreshing for the series, while still remaining true to the core of Far Cry. Who cares if they were smart enough to reuse assets if that's ultimately led to such an enjoyable game?

EDIT: And to clarify - if you don't enjoy Primal, a different topography is unlikely to change your mind. The setting undeniably looks unique, even if the heightmap underneath it all isn't.

There's generally a positive vibe toward it in the OT, but I would say it's definitely the worst FC since 2, including Blood Dragon.
You're either going to think the game is boring, because it's just Far Cry 4 with a shitty melee combat system, or you'll fall in love with the unique setting.

If you're the kind of person who thinks the Far Cry games have "shitty gunplay", you'll probably like Primal a lot more.

I mean, both Syndicate and Primal have been solid entires in their respective franchises. And The Division's categorically not my shit but people seem to have liked the betas a lot. Same deal with Rainbow Six.

People's opinion of Ubisoft has moved on from being about the quality of their games, they just straight up hate the company. Not saying they didn't make their bed, but now it's reached a point where fair discussion of a Ubisoft game on its own merits has become impossible on the good ol' World Wide Web.

Just like EA all through the first decade of the 2000's, which seemed to die down now that UbiSoft supplanted the new hate brigade.

I dont mind about the map, it's the game that it houses that's putting me off buying it. Everything I've seen about it seems to be Ubisoft's open world formula tarnishing a unique idea. It could be the exact same map and I'd be fine if the game itself was more of a departure.

Wondering if you all who dont care about it would react the same if Dark Souls 3 was having the same layouts of Bloodborne... ;)

I cant still beleive it, whats next, same layout of map in a futuristic environment?

Im on the side who just dont like it. Lazy effort to cash in quicker.

You cant tell when you're in the game. The world is totally different. Literally the only similarity to Farcry 4's world is that they both take place in the wilderness with lots of wildlife. No one knew about the maps until this thread was posted.
I said it before and will say it again, what difference does it make how a game was made if the end game is fun and enjoyable ? And Farcry:Primal has been very enjoyable for me so far.

I would literally say the same thing, as in:shocking news, game developers reuse assets for a sequel.

I think this is the first time I've seen a company try to pass it off as new. Arkham Origins used Arkham City's map mostly + about 25% new map.

They did the same thing with Blood Dragon and 3 so... heh.

Blood Dragon was openly intended to be the Far Cry 3 map though. It was never suggested it was separate.

How is Primal compared to FC4? I have played neither but Primal looks like it would be fun to try.

I plat'd both FC4 and Primal. Honestly I think anyone who plays more than one Far Cry every 3 years is crazy. I really enjoyed FC4, but I hadn't played FC3 or Blood Dragon. I didn't like Primal at all, it was 3-4 hours of fun and then 15 hours of what felt like a chore.

Bottom line, unless you really love the theme/setting I'd say you should play ONE of the three games: FC3, FC4, or Primal. Not all of them. Give it 2-3 years in between each one and I think it would be better. I wish I had waited 2 years and played Primal then, I think I would have enjoyed it more.

I played Primal on my PS4 because I got a good deal at gamestop ($30 towards it when I was trading in some games, traded it back in today) but I have FC3 and Blood Dragon on my PC and I will play one of them next year.

If this was a highly regarded series, people would be like "mind blown" and "wow what a cool throwback to that one game we all loved."

Though to be fair Far Cry 4 is extremely recent.

Far Cry 4 was fun even though it took me a bit to get into. I had only played 1 & 2 before it so I can't say how it compares to 3 and Blood Dragon. But it's definitely better than the first two. Primal is much more enjoyable to me than 4. The whole craft system, taming pets, etc. It's just awesome.

Regardless of how you feel about this game, why is Saints Row being used as a defense when it got more slack than Primal ever got for being pushed as a full title rather than an expansion ?, its a bad example.

I'm crazy. I'm playing FC4 and Primal at the same time (I played FC4 last year on the Bone as well). You either down with the Ubi sickness or not. I like it. It has a lot of faults, you can burn out on it for sure, but they're well made and beautiful games.

You are not too bright are you. It is not the same layout at all. But let's keep on ignoring facts and keep posting lazy devs.

I don't know. Throwing spears feels better than any guns in the Far Cry games.

Smart is buying games I know I have a good chance of enjoying, regardless of how they were made. Bought Farcry:Primal at full price and loved every minute of it. Worth every penny.

Well thats you. I got maybe 5 hours into FC4 and stopped and traded it in. It felt like it was barely play tested, a lot of jank across the board. Thats why im apprehensive to go in full price for this, as cool as this game looks. Ill wait a little.

someone has really bought this game at full price? Oh boy.

People still dont understand that their opinions don't apply to what others purchase and enjoy. Oh boy.
And put some effort into it next time - I'm sure you can manage to be a little more condescending if you really try.

Please elaborate.....I didn't feel this at all. It actually felt opposite to me.

Smart + Lazy = Efficient

Yeah, it looks more like they used the FC4 map as a TEMPLATE to make the primal map, gave them a good size with water and and different terrain flows. IDK it doesn't look IDENTICAL it looks like it used the same design FLOW.

Just by watching the videos you can tell they are using the same formula, different skin.
Do they at least got the co op right this time? I hated the fact that in FC4 you couldn't play the story in co op, and that just the host had progression in the side mission and map reveal.
