Me, I'd have to say the Famicom SP...

ooh la la

The NES, even tho the front loading method was prone to failing after a while. Some of the worse designs was SNES (is still my favorite system of all time) and the xbox (current favorite system).

Sports Edition Dreamcast or Indigo Cube.
They're both things of great beauty.
I still have trouble hitting the damn buttons on the PStwo and plugging in controllers.

There was something about that old manual RF switch (on top of the Atari, in the middle) that was just awesome. I loved the moment I slid it from TV to Computer in order to play my 2600. That said, I didn't really like anything other than Defender, Superman, and Raiders of the Lost Ark (I HATED Pac Man).

Actually, Air/Sea Battle and Combat were fun too.

Favorite design is the basic Dreamcast, but I also love the black Cube. The NES SP is awesome too. Still, nothing (other than a few other early consoles) has wood paneling like the Atari 2600.

PAL people got the same design as the Japanese?! No fair! The people responsible for the north american SNES and Turbographix 16 designs should be shot!!!

I wonder how localization for SMW worked in the US. Special World in SMW featured that awesome pallette logo.

Ugh. The one time I'm glad to be a PAL gamer. That's disgusting. How did NOA ever market such an ugly console.

I'll go with designs that are aesthetically pleasing, or compact.

PSone
70001 PS2
Gamecube
Dreamcast
Genesis was cool at the time too, I liked the Powerbase Convertor, or whatever it was called that plugged in to play Genny games.

yeah, the US version has the super famicom logo on the special world as well. it BLEW MY MIND.

one of the worst things is the underside, which you can't really see in pictures. it's ... wavy. frilly. it looks stupid.

though the plastic is a really nice color. purple-tinged grey.

the SFC carts look way better than the SNES carts as well.

If I was gonna fuck a console, it would be the Panasonic Q.

If I was gonna take one out on a date and lavish it with attention for it's, ahem, assetts, I think it would be the xbox.

In order of preference:

1) the first limited japanese Xbox was pure sex
2) the PSX (the dvd/hdd recorder with ps2 hardware)
3) the PSP
4) the dreamcast
5) the pstwo in the vertical stand
6) the purple gamecube

Well I always thought the Sega Master System looked cool, even though I never owned one. Once the PSP is released it will be my new favorite.

I happen to think the DS' design is very tight and solid. 2 game slots. I'm carrying Mario 64 DS and Yoshi's Island and I'm having a blast with the concept. The way you take out and put in DS games, the strap, it all has a very minamilistic feel and there's a use for everything, no space wasted. I like looking at the back and all the ports and slots...

Other than that, I liked the Dreamcast and the cube.

I also found this:

Hands down the original PC Engine. Incredibly compact and sleek. Nothing NEC did after really matched the PC Engine, although most of their consoles are very attractive (about the only clunkers are the Shuttle and Supergrafx). I even like the design of the PC-FX, it's certainly unique for a console.

Other than the PC Engine, I also liked the design of the Super Famicom and the Saturn.

I really like the N64 looks and the PSP looks. Those two really screams "buy me!!"
Too bad the hardware architecture was sucky on the N64 and that i'm not interested in buying a portable game console.

These two are by far my favourites. Original white PC Engine and the first revision of it, Core Grafx.

Now that's how you design a console.

My favorite is the Neo Geo. It looked expensive, with a cool Neo Geo font. Second ofcouse is the Genesis 16bit model 1. The system and controlers were very stylish, and very very impressive upon first sight.

I am going to go with a PSP. Ergonomically it is nice, the screen is ridiculous, and the exterior of the system is of such high gloss that it shines.

Those who honestly prefer the DS design to the PSP have probably never seen a PSP in person. I like the DS, but the silver plastic just seems so cheap. I don't know if it is the matte finish, or the way the top half comes down over the bottom, but it just seems like a toy to me. Id kill for a brushed aluminum/steel/ti DS. Or a black DS. Anything but cheap silver matte plastic.
