Boardwalk Empire

where Jimmy's son kills Nucky

Probably by far the most satisfying ending to a tv series for me

Whats yours?

The Shield

It's just a perfect way to end the show and reminds me of one particular Undertale quote.

You felt your sins crawling on your back.

Black Adder was done brilliantly.

My answer will always be All Good Things, the Star Trek TNG finale.
You've got:
-An appropriately twisty science fiction plot with time travel weirdness
-That also simultaneously provides closure on the future of a half dozen beloved characters
-While also itself marking a discrete step forward for at least a few characters to that future

Its everything you could want from the end of a series

Office has to be it for me. The last couple of seasons were kind of mediocre, but I loved the finale. Almost cried when I saw it the first time lol.

lol Boardwalk Empire was one of my least favorites. saw it coming from a mile away.

The Larry Sanders Show ending was perfect

+ yeah, The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings from Futurama was perfect. but they had to go and fuck that up

Six Feet Under
The ending takes you through an incredible range of emotions.

Spartacus and Black Sails
Starz has a knack for going out with a bang and not stretching out their shows too long. The latter episodes were all extremely good and had all the payoffs you waited for.

Martin Lawrence Show actually got me. Use to always watch that show as a kid and patterned so many mannerisms after him. Yeah there was drama and it was kind of sudden but it felt real. Really a shame such a groundbreaking show. Probably have seen the entire series about 10-15 times now between syndication and the DVD's.

Malcolm in the Middle

Offered a sweet $200k/year job out of highschool after a lifetime of struggling and pain. His mother refuses.

"That's absurd, you actually want me to be President?"

Mother : "Look me in the eyes and tell me you can't do it."

"...."

The whole series, years of showing the crap he has to suffer in the name of making him a better person - someone who would look after those constantly crapped on - to end with him begrudgingly head to college working spare time as a janitor to work his way to President.... It's amazing.

Parks and Recreation had a similar sense of what we could have if we got someone in power who actually cared.

The Office (US). The last episode was fantastic.

I will agree to that - I teared up at Michael returning with "That's what she said" - but I still largely hate how neatly everyone got their perfect life, even down to Stanley living in a lighthouse. Smh

Avatar The Last Airbender was pretty satisfying.

Yes. Too bad Korra was far less so.

That ending was stupid. I remember people saying "there's no way that this kid is
Jimmy's son and kills Nucky
, that would be too dumb and obvious" and then they actually did it lol

The more time passes, the more I think The Sopranos had the best ending. It's unique and people will talk about it forever.

Six feet under has the most complete and satisfying ending I've ever seen. How the writers masterfully weaved the conclusion with the shows theme is just....wow. It's perfect.

Some good ones have been mentioned, but I think I'll go with Person of Interest. Ending was pitch perfect.

Supernatural's was really good too, if you consider Season 5's finale as the series finale Kripke intended it to be.

LOST. Was even better on a rewatch

Assuming you're not joking, most GAFers will rag on you for this.

But I'm with you. I really enjoyed it.

The Shield is definitely one of the ones I enjoyed most, and had a decent build-up too.

And fucking Shane. That whole scene, shit. Felt sick the first time I watched it and realized what happened.

Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Twin Peaks: The Return.
I would love this to be true. One week to go!

Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. The one-hour special series finale was perfect.

I fucking wish we would have gotten the sequel series set in high school.

Breaking Bad.

This may be too young for GAF, but I don't think the ending to Newhart will ever be topped.

The entire series was a dream of Bob Newhart's character from his previous sitcom.
