Favorite episode of Buffy?

I have to say my all time favorite episode was the musical one, but there are just so many episodes to list that I loved. :D

Call me crazy, but one of my favorite episodes was I Was Made to Love You. It wasn't that it was a great episode or anything, but it was those final unexpected seconds that just shocked the hell out of you. Not advertised, not hinted, just bam, in your face. It was the pure shock of it all that makes it one of my top episodes.

Hush for me... and probably because I don't know any other title episodes and too tired to think of my other favorites...

I have all 7 seasons on DVD... only watched 3 episodes from season 1... NO TIME!

Am I the only person on this board who's never seen one episode of Buffy? I saw the movie way back when and I thought it was stupid so I never watched the TV show.

One that hasn't been mentioned, that I am rather fond of is Lie to Me from season 2. Where Buffy's childhood friend comes back to visit. I really like the 'twist'.

he has cancer and wanted immortality as a vampire

I also enjoyed Wild at Heart where Oz hooks up with the female werewolf.

Waaaay too many choices...so I won't pick one.

Passion -
Angel kills Jenny Calendar
I Only Have Eyes For You -
Dead student at Sunnydale High possesses people, Angel and Buffy too in the end
The Zeppo -
Follows Xander running aroudn trying to save the day while the rest of the gang try to keep him out of an apocalypse taking place off screen as he's just human and has no skills
Choices -
The gang steal the Box of Gavrok from the Mayor, the Mayor steals Willow from the gang. This is mainly just in because of the speech the Mayor gives to Angel and Buffy
Graduation Day (both episodes) -
Probably the best fight in Buffy (not in Angel) with Faith and Buffy, you see how much the Mayor truly cares about Faith
Hush -
The mostly silent episode
Who Are You? -
Faith swaps bodies with Buffy. Incredible acting on both of their parts, but Eliza Dushku in particular really pulls off Buffy's mannerisms and speech amazingly well
Restless -
The gang dream as they're attacked by the First slayer
Fool For Love -
Spike tells Buffy of how he killed the two Slayers
The Body -
Buffy's mom dies
Intervention -
Glory captures Spike, thinking he's the key
Once More With Feeling -
The musical
Normal Again -
Buffy thinks she's in a mental hospital, and attacks her friends as she is convinced that she has created this world - after all, vampires can't be real etc.
Selfless -
We Anya's past and she and Buffy fight as she's back to her old ways as a vengeance demon
Conversations With Dead people -
The First tries to convince Willow to kill herself, Buffy has a heart to heart with a vamp shrink, Spike's killing people again, Dawn isvisisted by her "mother"
Lies My Parents Told Me -
Spike and Principal Wood duel it out as Spike remembers his past and his mother in order to remove the trigger
Chosen -
The final episode

Thanks for the post Mama Smurf.

I'm no big buffy fan or anything, but I really really liked The Zeppo.

I've been watching the episodes for the first time on DVD. I'm halfway through season 5 now. Haven't rewatched anything, but episodes that really stood out on first viewing were Innocence, Becoming II, and Restless.

Passion.

End this thread. My choice wins. Don't question it.

On another note, an episode that doesn't get enough credit would be "Beneath You". While 70% of the episode is a complete write-off, the other 30% is some of the greatest TV.

I hate that episode, it's one of the worst episodes of Buffy I've ever seen. Thanks for playing though.

...alright, I liked the ending. the whole Spike and Buffy in the church scene: awesome. I don't think it can count as 30% though.

Incidentally, it's no surprise that scene was good, as it was rewritten by Joss Whedon. He didn't think Douglas Petrie's original script was good enough. Which, judging by the rest of the episode, was no doubt true.

Yeah, I guess so. It's such a shame one of the best scenes in Buffy ever is in such a horrible episode.

I just think that scene elevates the episode to greatness even if the majority of it sucked.

The club scene and alley scene (minus the annoying lady and worm thing) were solid too though. So that's where the 30% comes in.

One of my favorite eps that hasn't been mentioned is Amends from season 3. It's the one during Christmas where Angel is being tortured by the First (first appearance of the First too). Eventually it drives Angel so mad that he tries to kill himself by letting sunrise destroy him. Buffy tries desperately to stop him, the conversation between the two of them at the end is so damn tear jerking, but the sun never rises due to a massive snow storm appearing out of nowhere that blocks the sun for all of Christmas day. The ep shows that the powers of good are just as active as the powers of evil, they just do so in more subtle ways. Really great ep, Angel shines in this one.

I Will Remember You is a good one if not for the last 5 minutes of Angel telling Buffy time is going to be rewound.

That's an Angel episode :p

Amends is a great too. Kinda funny, I had watched Amends just before Season 7 started. So when I watched the first episode, I was like, "That's the First!" during the end monologue and like eight episodes later, we find out it was the first :)
