It's a hybrid. You could play it either way, which is how it was designed. Oddly, I played my Switch OLED 98% of the time in handheld, and my Switch 2 98% of the time docked.

No, all the technology comes from the tablet. I would understand if the dock itself contributed something to that. But it doesn't.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Switch 1, but through no real fault of Nintendo.
Yes it's got good games. But Nintendo (unintentionally) made a handheld emulation powerhouse that can run a lot of it's previous generation of games. It also (again, unintentionally) allows me to back up my games, ensuring I actually own my purchases. Physical game cartridges actually have the game on the cartridge and aren't tied to their online store.
So far, the handful of Switch 2 games they've released doesn't even come close to making up for the system's shortcomings compared with it's predecessor.
