Favorite towns

I remember the first time I was allowed out of the school, it was awesome, and then there was christmas in the town as well, brilliant!

Midgar: The rich separating themselves from the slums isn't exactly a new idea, but the feel you get is intriguing from exploring a class-divided city that had a city built on top of a plate which itself is built over the slums.

Just one of the many awesome ones from any Infinity Engine game,

Baldur's Gate 2: Athkatla
Theres some other great ones (
Suldenessar
) But Athkatla just has so much going on. So much to do. People to meet and things to do.

Overall Map + The docks, because I really like the rounded architecture there.

In before "HD towns are hard": FFXIII has some pretty interesting cities that would have been fun to spend more time in. Eden in particular looked just amazing. Let's hope that FFXIII-2 lets you visit them and explore them -- they could do a lot with a Cocoonian culture in opposition to the people who went down to PUlse.

Canterbury Commons from Fallout 3
Home to one of the wackiest and weirdest quests in the game "A Superhuman Gambit" in which two local "Superheroes" duke it out in the middle of the town. And you must choose who to kill and who to side with. The Ant-Agonizer or the Mechanist.

Aspio, City of Scholars from Tales of Vesperia (can't find a screen).

Another vote for Windfall Island in Wind Waker...mainly because of the awesome music. Seriously, doesn't get any more relaxing than this, plus it incorporates the Kakariko Village theme in it too.

And I love Sootopolis City in Ruby and Sapphire

Can't wait to see how this town looks in the 3DS R/S remake. :P

And a shout out to Delfino from Mario Sunshine

San d'Oria from FFXI. It's where I first started, where I returned to, where I got my rank 10, and where my heart in FFXI will always be.

I was going to say Clock Town from Majora's Mask but I completely forgot about FFXI.

I spent a lot of time in Windurst but I was from San d'Oria so I love both.

Flanoir // Tales of Symphonia.

I don't really think I have a favourite overall game town, but Flanoir definitely started my love of snow/winter towns.

I came here to mention Halure. I see I don't need to.
That town is one of the things that sold me on Vesperia.
One of my biggest disappointments with Vesperia was that it didn't have a snow town, but aside from that they were all great.

I fucking HATE Zozo...lol. Came at the end of a long period without being able to visit a shop, you're running low on health, then BAM. An oasis! Thank go- WTF? Why????

But favorite town....does anything in Professor Layton count?
What? lol. You march straight up there from Jidoor, haha.

Lindblum and Rabanastre for sure. And hell, Midgar, for the memories.

And Ironforge and Stormwind! Again, for all the memories.

Cosign this. Flanoir was the best town in ToS.

Hopefully Xillia has one...

How could anyone like anything from Oblivion? Ghost towns. ESPECIALLY the imperial city.

I like Fisherman's Horizon...

I also really like Yakuza's towns. I feel like there's so much to do.

Tibetan village in Uncharted 2.

thank god someone posted this. I was scrolling down and thinking "surely someone posted this!!" Looking at that... even now; wow ND has some seriously talented artists working for them.

A recent favorite of mine includes Hengsha from Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Love the size, the different areas, the interesting people talking amongst themselves about the new authority in town and the look of the city.

Also, Kamurocho of Yakuza 4 is up there.

Dalaran (WoW). I don't think I ever got sick of steering my drake toward the city in the clouds, watching it slowly come into full view.

Harrogath (Diablo II)...right after Tristram, but that's been posted. Second best theme in the game, too (once again following Tristram)

Last but not least, Paradise City (Burnout Paradise).

This took way too long.

Seriously, I was surprised as well

Crysta. I can't believe it took so many pages for this one to be listed. The minute you step outside, you're totally blown away by the weird Crystal Blue flying in the sky. Not to mention of the greatest village themes ever composed.

I can't believe Rapture took so long to get mentioned!

Among my favorites are:
Kakariko Village (LTTP, OOT)
Raccoon City
The casino city (from Pokemon Red and Blue)
Kamurocho (Yakuza series)
GTA Liberty City
Yokosuka (Shenmue)
Town in Greece (Body Harvest)

As far as design and artstyle are concerned, hands down Lindblum from Final Fantasy IX for me.

As far as activity and interaction with the town and its people, definitely Clock Town from Majora's Mask.

That town in the desert in Xenogears. The one with the restaurant/tavern and the fish tank?

I think it was Dazil.

Xenogears had such lively towns. Perfect atmosphere.

Well this (IMO) shows to an extent the damage all the recent games and movie has done to the series.Excitement about the franchise dies bit by bit with every half-arsed SH Konami continues to spit out.

Although it isn't everyone's. FF IX is my favourite FF, not necessary the best. But I just found the world enchanting for some reason and this town is one of the reasons why.
