FBI: Clinton "never deleted, nor did she instruct anyone to delete, her e-mail"

So she's either a colossal imbecile or sinister and corrupt?

I still lean more towards the latter, but its not a good look for her either way.

I'm surprised people here are all experts on email? It's a format that I still have problems with. Always get the BCC's and CC's confused. And IMAP stuff has been headaches over the years.

Is still don't know what those things are and just send my email and wait for "your message has been sent" popup and hope for the best.

People can actually be really smart and not know every in and out of IT security practices...

People who think that because they know a thing everyone that doesn't is an idiot are the WORST.

I'll cop to it being sexist, that's my bad. I should've said "person." I didn't consciously intend that but it's still not great on my part. :(

I'm not sure about the ageist thing, to be honest, but it's definitely not my intention to offend anybody there. I genuinely think that older people are less likely to understand computer use than younger people because, like, computers were invented in the 80s and it's harder to learn new things as you get older. If that's ageist, I'm happy to discuss the topic further and understand why and how.

It's a generalization, sure, but it's also true as fuck. The struggle is real when dealing with older folks and technology, and in my experience, it's always been the case.

I'm literally a software engineer and have been putting all the emails in the "To" field until earlier this year when someone actually told me what BCC meant (I can hide the other recipients? All this time?!)

Absolutely nothing, apparently! Sorry for the tone, but we're in month I've lost count on this fucking scandal with the same people hammering the same points to zero effect and it's starting to grate on me.

People like this guy, who keep yammering on about this with brand-new slightly different angles of the same goddamn thing like "accountability" when Clinton has literally taken full accountability for this more times than I have made good posts.

Yeah those people are ridiculous. I'm just going to say that I think I was starting to get confused. I was originally a person defending her...than I heard more statements against her...changed my mind and got confused. It's really fine though, I could see why you were mad.

It's literally neither, but please keep transparently stanning for a white supremacist

It's all good, let's just pretend I directed that post at Joey Fox or something :jnc

Blaming it on her age is a little hilarious (and an extraordinary cop-out). She was told not to do what she did. Old people still know what the word "no" means, right? Or maybe Clinton's so cool that she was confused.

State Department: What you're doing is bad.
Clinton: Sweet! Thanks!

I mean, you probably should read the actual FBI report because that's not actually what happened!

Not a good look for her.

At best, sure. But all this "unfit for Presidency" bullshit? That's straight crazy talk, especially when Trump is also on the ticket. I can't even fathom what that even means, honestly. I mean, are you not voting at all? Were you maybe, possibly, voting Hillary except this now put you off entirely? Was this enough to shove you into the arms of Trump? Ridiculous. But whatever, people do what the fuck they want ultimately, even when it makes no sense (see also: Trump voters). I mean, I guess one can lament the lack of perfect candidates on either side of the aisle--but the choice is still pretty damn clear regardless.

A nexus of hardcore gamers, enthusiast press, and video game industry developers and publishers. Maybe also a neutral ground where facts and evidence, presented within the confines of civil, inclusive discourse, prevail through careful moderation?

Which dude is pretty much an insular community

This whole ordeal makes me want to hear how either candidate would respond to a technological literacy question during the next debate, I feel like that topic should be more important nowadays.

Clinton: Hey could you encrypt all my emails so I don't have to worry?
State Department: Uh, yeah. Sure... (This is going to be a huge pain in the ass if we do. Eh, not like she'll know the difference anyway!)

Honestly the whole thing is pretty much right out of an episode of Veep, including having a long term aide (Huma) who seems to be constantly stuck right in the middle of one psuedo scandal after another. Huma's husband is also Anthony Weiner, its just insane at how reality is funnier than a TV show.

Here's the thing that's crazy.

Let's review serious goverment hacks that have taken place in the last 8 years:

- McCain and Obama 2008 campaign employees' accounts (China, 2008) http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_...mpaigns-took-internal-documents-officials-say
- Sarah Palin's Yahoo mail (password guess, 2008)
- Gmail and Google secure infrastructure (China, 2010, Hillary Clinton consulted on response to Chinese government with Google)
- White House employees' Gmail accounts (China, 2011) http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/04/technology/04hack.html
- Goverment employees' Hotmail accounts (China, 2012) http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/01/technology/microsoft-to-notify-users-of-government-hackings.html
- State Department confidential cables (Manning)
- State Department employees' Gmail Accounts (Russia, 2014-5)
- State Department employees' .gov accounts (China/Russia, 2014-5) http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/10/politics/state-department-hack-worst-ever/
- President Obama's .gov account (Russia, 2015)
- DNC and Clinton Campaign employees' accounts
- CIA and DHS directors' AOL accounts (2015) http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/19/politics/cia-fbi-alleged-hacking-report/

You know what's missing from that hack list? Clinton's private email server. You know why? She only emailed a small number of people, and it wasn't hosted on a known system.

Security through obscurity isn't great, but in this case it probably worked.

Circumventing? You mean like how she asked for her emails to be encrypted and they chose not to?

I agree with you on that point, and PRN should be held responsible there. My issues are more with the decision to continually revert back to the old blackberry because of the ease of access issue. I know several people who carry multiple mobile devices because that's what the job requires.

And honestly my biggest issue with all of it is her failure to take culpability as the person in charge and admit that she lied numerous times to numerous people when asked about this publicly.

Yes, Trump is a shitshow, Johnson isn't much better and because of that I'll likely vote Hillary reluctantly.

As someone who's been in the world of IT, I completely understand why she did what she did.

Doesn't make it right. I just know the frustration she must have been dealing with.

I'm confused here, anti-Hillary people, and lets ignore your poor(willfully or not)reading comprehension here, but why exactly are you incapable of understanding that people can learn from their mistakes, especially after acknowledging them, and will in fact hire the best people. (in Hillary's case, at least, Trump will hire more whites supremacists and/or Scott Baio)

Why are you still clinging on to these emails, even after we now know she told these people to encrypt the information? What's the end game here?

She has accepted responsibility and apologized for her mistakes multiple times.

Only Mike Pence is. Didn't you see Trump's interview where Pence voting for the war in Iraq is ok because he can learn from it Hillary its not.

She has accepted responsibility and apologized for her mistakes multiple times.

People keep saying this but I've yet to see it. Can you point me in the right direction? I'll admit that I haven't kept up with the last several weeks of news due to my current workload. I'll be glad to have been proven wrong.

I mean, you probably should read the actual FBI report because that's not actually what happened!

The report said that a memo was sent out ON CLINTON'S BEHALF warning employees against using personal email accounts to conduct official business!

It's all they have, they have been proven wrong multiple times but keep coming back to it. It also helps that it is literally the same posters.

Has she apologized for her lies? I can't remember who she blamed for not turning over all work-related emails.

http://theweek.com/speedreads/64497...re-no-excuses-state-department-private-emails

I've been asked many, many questions in the past year about emails, and what I've learned is that when I try to explain what happened, it can sound like I'm trying to excuse what I did, and there are no excuses. I want people to know that the decision to have a single email account was mine, I take responsibility for it, I've apologized for it, I would certainly do differently if I could, but obviously I'm grateful the Justice Department concluded there's no basis to pursue this matter further, and I believe the public will be and is considering my full record and experience as they consider their choice for president.

But if she believed that neither would offer an security flaws, then it really did come down to ease of use/convenience. According to the admittedly brief quote, it was an issue of not being able to link personal emails to her state device, not that it would be any "safer". Of course who knows what explanation they gave her for that limitation

[10:18 AM] redact: Vince Foster died on January 5th
[10:18 AM] kristoffer: Also lol at hr instead of hrc
[10:18 AM] kristoffer: @redact Holy shit, he did. Look it up.

What no? Vince Foster didn't die on January 5th.

And these people work for the FBI?

That's even worse than Clinton's lack of computer skills.

We seem to be at the generational divide between senior government workers and modern day technology. Hillary was not the only government worker to be completely ignorant of modern technology and won't be the last, but as we get older, it'll become less and less frequent.

Eh... Things will get better as people who grew up with early PCs take over, then get worse again as people who grew up using simple media consumption devices take over.

Whoever was on this team.

CLINTON never deleted, nor did she instruct anyone to delete, her email to avoid complying with the Federal Records Act, FOIA, or State or FBI requests for information. Concerning the Congressional preservation request on March 3, 2015 for email and other records, CLINTON trusted her legal team would comply with the request.

It's literally in the report.

CLINTON had no knowledge regarding the following topics:

The creation, storate, transfer, or access to an archive of her email created by MONICA HANLEY in the Spring of 2013.

The Specific processes and procedures used by CLINTON's legal team and PRN to separate her work and personal email

Discussions of federal records related to the Apple, Pagliano, or PRN servers

The existence of any copies of her clintoneemail.com emails, other than what has been provided to the FBI and State

March 2015 deletions by PRN

A year ago:

'"As I look back at it now, even though it was allowed, I should have used two accounts. That was a mistake. I’m sorry about that. I take responsibility,” Clinton said in an interview with ABC News."'

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...izes-for-e-mail-system-i-take-responsibility/

Recently:

"I have been asked many, many questions in the past year about emails, and what I have learned is that when I try to explain what happened, it can sound like I am trying to excuse what I did," Clinton said. "And there are no excuses. I want people to know that the decision to have a single account was mine. I take responsibility for it. I apologize for it."

I think people seeing this should realize now that many of their conspiracies about govt is wrong lmao. I honestly dont know how people could orchestrate some of the crazy things people come up with and then you see this and your like yeah they are just as fallible as anyone else lmao.
