FCC to investigate, 'take appropriate action' on Colbert’s Trump rant

I feel like this has more to do with the use of the temr 'cock holster', and less about who he was saying it about. Obviously political motives spiked the number of complaints, but I don't think this is any attempt at censorship.

I think they should try to prove that Trumps mouth is good for anything else. Or get Putin to testify Trumps mouth is in fact good for nothing.

The issue isn't saying the words it's broadcasting them. If grab them by the pussy was objectionable enough to require a fine it would be NBC (?) that gets fined for broadcasting Trump saying that, not Trump himself.

Maybe I'm weird, but even if someone was spewing the most heinous shit possible on TV I would never think "I should call the FCC and complain". Just turn the damn channel.

They probably heard complaints from older people and they reported it. It happens with every show.

This is the super bowl.

The African American guy carrying a silver trophy was yelling "motherfucker" at least two times. This is inappropriate for young viewers and Fox has crossed the line as well as the NFL.

Yeah I don't get this at all. Like, of course they got complaints, he said "cockholster" on CBS. Here's a list of complaints the FCC got about the Simpsons.

They will take appropriate action and it will be A) nothing or B) a minor fine. But it was bleeped, so I can't imagine them actually cracking down.

Like, Trump is not ordering a purge here, this is just the normal function of the FCC...?

This was mentioned after he was asked about it in an interview, so it wasn't announced or anything. The FCC gets all kinds of complaints and they're tasked with evaluating them, so this isn't being treated differently. His quote was:

“We have received a number of complaints, as I said, and we’ll follow the standard operating procedures, as we always do, and make sure we evaluate what the facts are and apply the law fairly and fully.”

I suspect nothing will happen, as is the case with most things on TV that get complaints.

Not exactly. Don't think it had anything to do with the administration directly. More like r/the_donald and 4chan trying to flood the FCC with complaints because they think they're being clever and trying to make some meme magic or whatever happen by trying to get the idea of Colbert being a homophobe to stick regardless. Basically, a "gotcha, you're the REAL racists liberals! Take that!" type of thing. ...I think. Those places male my head hurt and it's hard to really make much sense of it at all.

But in any case, definitely a reddit thing as far as I can tell and nothing to do with the Trump administration directly.

My wife is trying to put my son to sleep and is probably gonna throw me outta the house if I keep laughing and wake him up, but some of those are hilarious. The following had me rolling:
On the simpsons about half way through there's a scene were homier is in a meth lab and about to hit the
merge pipe and afer there is a line outside with cledus and his family sayin they just radedtjere best meger house.

This wasn't old people complaining. It was brigading of the FCC phones by 4chan/the_donald because their feelings are hurt when people make fun of Trump. They had several posts urging people to call the FCC and frame the narrative that Colbert is a homophobe on social media.

The most that will happen is a fine for CBS. This is only going to do good for Colbert and his ratings. This smacks of Trump getting involved though.
