February EGM Scores

But waitaminnit I thought there really was no Castlevania DS and Nintenfanboydronebotwhorekiddies were making it all up because of an offhand comment that IGA's sister's boyfriend's nephew said to the 8th floor janitor at Ziff three days after E3?

Top screen is used for a map, bottom screen is for the side-scrolling 2D action and you use the stylus to "seal" the souls of bosses. You have to pay attention to how a set order of lines appear on screen to then correctly draw the shape to beat the boss.

Whaaaaaaaaaaat?? We need scans so I can see a visual aid stat!

Star Wars KotoR II - 8.5; 7.0; 9.0

A 7.0 for this gem? Ahaha.

The original was a gem, kotor 2 is a simple rock, we'll never know if there was a gem inside since the devs rushed the product way too fast, its certainly not polished.

Its about what i would give kotor 2, so many things are worst than the original, and the ending, ugh -_-

I'm just going to address some of the rumors.

- There will be a new Castlevania on the PS2 in 2005

I sure hope so! Even though I liked Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, I'd prefer to see a new PS2 Castlevania done in the style of the recent 2D Castlevania games on PS1 and GBA.

- Capcom will release complilation discs with old arcade games similar to the Midway arcade collections.

That would be nice!

- After the PSP Twisted Metal is released there will be a PS3 version. It is suppose to have a huge online mode and a better story than Twisted Metal: Black.

That makes sense. I'm looking forward to seeing how the PSP Twisted Metal game turns out.

I'd like to hear more about Oddsworld. And a 9.5 for Street 2? Please.

Also, we really don't know if Castlevania DS is even a priority right now. Itagaki announced Team Ninja is developing Ninja Gaiden 2 (For Xbox 2 lets not even speculate!) but the game is still 2, maybe 3 years away. He stated the game is coming out after DoA4. So just because some projects have been formally announced and others have not doesn't mean the announced project has priority. Either way it doesn't matter much to me. As long as the DS and PS2 games are in the vein of SoTN I'll be happy. Aria of Sorrow is fantastic lets hope the ball keeps on rolling.

And you can't go wrong with brand new Twisted Metal games.

Ok.....

WHAT WHAT WHAT? (cue dog in blender)

Am I reading this correctly? What does Castlevania have to do with Team Ninja? Are you off yer fucking rocker?

RE4 is GMR exclusive.

Urbz got a 9.5? wtf?

I don't suppose Boktia was revealed with Castlevania and you forgot to mention it did you? I don't know why, I just thought we'd see both at once.

If Boktia was in the magazine I didn't see it.

Do you have a scanner? IF YOU DO, PLEASE SCAN CASTLEVANIA DS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

If you don't have a scanner, what better time to get one than right now?

99% of multiplatform games are released simultaneously anyways, and I don't see that changing once the consoles are all introduced to the market. Noone get much mindshare from multiplatform games anyways, regardless if they look better on one console or the other (if you are speculating that they will look the best on PS3 this time around)

I think what they mean is that for the first year or two, at least, games will be developed and released on the Xenon first, then ported to the PS3 and shovelled out the door like they were for the Xbox early on this generation. Plus, with the Xenon having the larger userbase initially, lots of developers will continue this early trend of developing on Xenon first as the lead platform (and their experience with the platform will further encourage this).

So, Microsoft hopes next-gen will be a reversal of this gen for its console. We'll see if their strategy works out.

There's no doubt about it, Castlevania DS looks fucking BEAUTIFUL. Soma is highly detailed, much more than his GBA incarnation. And the environments and enemies are just so lush and colorful. This is definitely the sequel to SotN that we never got. I love the gameplay idea of sealing away the bosses with the stylus. And a beautiful snowy level? YES, I'll take it!

:O

A direct sequel to Aria? Snow levels?! Oh, sold. Ever so sold.

HOLY FUCKSHIT CAPCOM? WILL PORT OLD GAMES?

Actually I guess if they did this right it could be good. Just as long as they put, for example, all five Capcom Generations on one PS2 disc and not five different ones. If it's an Arcade Treasures-styled bargain then we all win.

"The team also plans to make full use of the system's vastly superior-to-GBA music capabilities. Noted series composer Michiru Yamane will supervise the music production and pen a few key tracks herself."

Also, looks like most of the main characters from Aria are returing. More weapons, more souls and more enemies on screen. Soma can summon an army of Archers to do his bidding.

Also of note, "Igarashi promises to utilize the DS' wireless functionality for Enemy Soul trading and the exchange of customized maps. They also mentioned he's shooting for a versus mode.

Thanks Screaming_Gremlin

For someone so fucking apathetic about the DS at E3, there sure does seem to be a lot of effort being put into this game by Igarashi.

But seriously Ramirez, I really am glad this score made you feel better, just try to forget all the shit reviews this barely-an-update crap game got and I'm sure you'll have a good day today.

Ghost Recon 2 - 2.5; 3.0; 5.5

whoaaa! low scores there. all I know is, I have the Xbox version of this and it completely kicks ass! i am addicted to it on Xbox Live. IMO this game is a solid 9 on the Xbox, sucks to see the PS2 version get the shaft.

What are the reasons for the 7 for Kotor 2? And why is there no love for Suikoden 4? How was Suikoden 3 rated by EGM?

Probably because KoTOR2 is an inferior retread of the first, failing to improve upon just about every facet -- save for combat -- of the original, while coming up short in several respects. I couldn't bring myself to finish the game, to be honest.

The scores for KoTOR2 and Mech Assault are comical.

If I recall correctly, EGM didn't care for the first Getaway -- and that game was amazing. Whatever.
