Just saw this on the local news and thought GAF would enjoy. Some potential GIF material in there.

It’s not unusual for police to worry about their safety on the job, but this Indiana officer was attacked by a very unusual assailant—a goose. And the embarrassing encounter was caught on surveillance video.

Lt. Shane Bassett of the Clarksville Police Department posted a video on YouTube of a goose attacking his colleague Sergeant Detective Ray Hall.

The video shows Hall attempting to walk from the parking lot to the front door of the police station after forgetting his keys.

An aggressive goose flew into him, and Hall tried to defend himself with his bag. The goose tackled Hall into a bush, but fortunately, he was able to run away.

“Detective Hall forgot his keys,” Basset wrote. “He then attempts to enter the building and is challenged by our local geese… bad decision.”

I know it's not a goose

An angry goose is pretty scary.

But thankfully that cop works with a lot of high level assholes and the clown music they played in the background erased my sympathy for the dude and replaced it with laughter.

I love living in Indiana. I feel like if there's ever some really off the wall silly U.S. story, there's a good chance it happened in Florida or Indiana.

The goose staring at the camera after he chased the guy off got me pretty good.

On that note - I hunt geese during the fall so I've seen some pretty pissed off geese. Give them a good right hook or a solid punt and they usually back down (source : my experiences when hunting). But yeah, geese can be assholes

Had a pair of geese standing on the walkway between buildings at my work building. I just casually walked past them with no issues.

It was funny because they were standing around a tiny puddle where water had dripped off the roof. I mean.. it was like a pieplate sized puddle with barely any water yet those geese were claiming it!

When I worked at a State building in Florida, we would get an email every year reminding us not to make eye contact with the geese, and to walk around to the rear entrance if they were visible and irritated. We were also reminded it was a crime to harass them, even if fighting them off.

"(She) was walking toward her car and a goose came out of the bushes toward her hissing,” a witness said in a workers’ compensation report. "(She) tried to avoid the goose and lost her footing and fell backward and hit her head hard on the pavement.”

"It's so bad that I have had dreams about them," she said.

Tips for state workers

• Don't feed the geese.
• Don't make eye contact with the geese.
• Don't wave your arms or kick legs at the geese.
• Don't try to get up close to take pictures of the geese.
• Don't get up close to the nests.
• Do go the other way when the geese appear to be agitated.
• Do respect the geese while they are present.

Years ago, I remember canvassing for something in a rural area. One woman came tearing out around a house.

We asked her if the homeowner had threatened her, and she gasped, "No, GEESE".

Them birds are mean.

Geese are mean fuckers.

There's a nesting Canada Geese in my parking lot at work. I'm parking far away from them and avoiding at all costs. In my last job when there were nesting geese, they blocked off the spots around the nest.

Fucking geese, man. Such assholes.

But it is almost always hilarious to watch videos of them bullying people. I try not to laugh, but I always do. Geese are dicks for making me laugh at their dickishness.

Fuck you, geese.

There's a bunch by MacArthur Park near my house, but I keep my ducking distance. Although it's generally good to keep your distance from MacArthur park anyway...

Are they even really dangerous? I mean, what if you just square up with one like that dude did the kangaroo a few months ago.

Thats a long ass neck they have there, you can't tell me that if I get my hands around it that I can't overpower it.

My friend had 2 Roman crested geese on his property. I dreaded going over there.

Meanest birds ever. Would hang around our car and hiss and attack if we got too close. Not so much me but I was afraid since I had a small child.

My friend would just charge and spread his arms out and they'd run. Wouldn't work if I did it lol.

Never had Canadian Geese attack though. Was at Wonderland last year and one of them hung out near us as we ate begging for food.
