But the GBA can't handle the sound quality of VI.
Why cheer for what will most likely be an inferior version :/

I hate them all.
they should do a dual release on the DS and the GBA, they'd make more money off of the DS version anyway as the carts are cheaper to mass produce. All they'd have to do is put a status screen down the bottom or something and i'd be happy.

OK, do you think this means SE will be fully onboard with Rev ?
I mean already 5 games or so for the DS, FF4, 5 and 6 for GBA, SE developping that Mario Basket game, and not a single game coming for PSP ?? I would be worried if I was Sony...
i think square will be supporting rev more than gc, but i can't see the main ff games moving from sony. dragon's quest could be a maybe, yuji hori was praising the revolution via video in iwata's tgs speech:

at first introduction to the controller i was surprised. there should have been a controller like this before but surprisingly there was not. i believe people will not hesitate to use this controller. just like a remote control for your tv, people will touch it and without thought will understand how to use it.

starting with ds i believe nintendo has made game machines that offer the feeling of touch. the revolution controller has evolved this feeling of touch even further.
i would still be surprised if dragon's quest goes to rev, i think the main series will be on ps3.

kingdom hearts would work well on rev, so maybe there's a chance of an exclusive, but i think this would be in addition to ps3 versions.

square ENIX is making Mario Basketball for the DS?

Ok. The world is imploding.

(But in a good way.)

I really want to just plaster the message "SQUARE ENIX IS DEVELOPING A NEW MARIO GAME" all over the internet... then put in little pictures of the basketball game. Just because of those "SUPER MARIO RPG IS BETTER THAN PAPER MARIO" zealots.

One the one hand : Yeah, these Announcements are good, but will these games make it to Europe ? Or even to the US ?

Dang I got owned pretty bad up in here. Yeah I guess it makes sense now to make them for GBA. I also keep forgetting the DS can play GBA games.

' FF III ' 2006 year sale, ' V ' * ' as much as VI ' advance transplantation clearly
October 5th of 2005 (water) o'clock of 18 22 minute

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the TFT hole of at this Nitto capital daybreak it was held " the Nintendo DS Conference! 2005. Fall " being similar, after President Yoichi Wada of the スクウェア * エニックス being announced, follow-up story it was not, administering the complete Lee make-up ' ファイナルファンタジー cIii ' concerning, it made that it sells in 2006 clear.

The Tanaka Hiro road person who takes charge of development does, being to have planned, with the DS III ' it probably will transplant many degrees " so far ' concerning the Lee make-up, but the life of of hard of transplantation schedule did not run out, the staff did not get together with company internal circumstance and/or with, it was not possible to actualize so far. You thought " the work where and as many as 15 years pass from sale, not being limited to simply transplantation, are met the expectation of the user probably will be made you have commented.

The image which is screened at the meeting place seems that the Lee make-up is done substantially e.g., the キャラ and field are converted the to 3d,, but as for Tanaka as for image however it changed, in order not to destroy the image of the origin, appointing Koichi Kazuhiko Aoki and Ishii and others to development, when it has produced, you have commented.

In addition, the スクウェア * エニックス ' the マリオバスケット 3on3 ' doing development in for the ニンテンドー DS, becomes the sale from Nintendo Co., so is. Wada while researching the game which has the touch impression only of the DS, whether the basket game it is not possible with world view of the マリオ, when, from side of the スクエニ approached to Nintendo Co., so is.

Lastly some days ago ' ファイナルファンタジー cIv advance ' it made clear that in the head it keeps being transplanted in the portable game machine, but ' it seems that appears to V ' and ' VI ' GBA. This way is the pleasure.

what else is better than playing ff5 on you gba micro that hangs off your key-chain

There's nothing unlikely about it.

OK, for those poor people forced to read the babelfished version of the Nintendo Inside article, here's a quick and dirty translation of the main points pertaining to III as i see 'em:

Square-Enix's Youchi Wada announced that a 100% remake of Final Fantasy III would be launched in 2006 for the DS. The remake is being handled by Hiromichi Tanaka, who said that there had been many plans to port III in the past, but they fell apart because the h/w in question didn't live long enough, because they couldn't get the right staff etc. So since its now been 15 years since the original, he thought they should try to do more than just a port of the original.

Although the characters in the footage shown were in full 3D, Tanaka says that they are attempting to maintain the original feel despite the visual overhaul. Among those working on the title are Kazuhiko Aoki and Kouichi Ishii.

Square in "getting competent creators to make something that's not a Hanjuku game or FFXI" shocker!

I dont know if its as smart as it is lazy, easy inferior ports and all but it seems to make you portable gamers quite happy :) So that's all that counts in end, congrats!

thanks for the translation!

it sounds really good :)

Seeing the superior quality of 3D in Mario Basket, I would love to see how FF3 turns out.

Heck, I said before that I want a 2D version of FF7. But after seeing this 3D quality on the DS, I won't mind Square-Enix porting FF7 in 3D to DS at all!

I think a 3 on 3 bball game needs less space than a full rpg

well I'm secretly hoping for something kick ass but I wont get my hopes up, this is the DS... If I learned anything from Mr. Crow is the DS is old hardware :D

It doesn't look any better than Mario 64 DS to me. In fact, it's probably got the same models as that's the way Nintendo works on the GC and I don't see any reason not to move that over to the DS.

If developers have talent and publishers actually willing to spend the money, the DS seems a decently competent 3D machine. Nothing great, but shouldn't be putting out the crap we see in most 3D games on the system.

Couldn't care for FFV, happy about VI, enthousiastic about III. I really hope they're gonna do something grand with the visual makeover. Can't wait for the first screens :). There's a trailer out there, right? Me wants.

Glad to hear that Tanka is involved with FFIII. I'm even happier that Kawazu's name wasn't mentioned. It sounds like the project is finally coming together. FFIII is awesome as is, but I'm excited to hear that it is a total remake. I expect it to be somewhat easier, but as long as it is still challenging I'll be happy.

I would prefer DS for FFIV,V, and VI, but I guess I'll have to buy the GBA versions, although IV from Chronicles is virtually perfect. Hopefully they'll add some substantial new sidequests and bosses to the games. I would also love to see some new classes in V and some tweaks to VI's magic power.

FFCC? 3D? :O

Hang on! FFCC is 3D too? Are those pics FF3 or FFCC? The boss looks to have ridiculously good lighting in that pic!!!

Those are definitely FF3 pics. The first image is the first cave in the game.

Why port 5 and 6 to GBA though? Stick em all on the DS they'll have to do it eventually anyway.

Thats what I was thinking. Anyways this is great news!

Dude get on AIM, we have a lot to catching up to do!

oh no I got owned :(

My surety was based on knowing that Kawazu was asked 2 days ago (off the record) about FFIII DS, and that he honestly replied that he hadn't started working on it yet...

CRAFTY WORDSMITH! Little did I suspect Square would take him off and replace the staff with decent and actually talented people. So he was telling the truth, but FFIII still exists. I guess he had to move off cause he's Executive Producing FFXII, now?

In my defense, this FFIII DS bears absolutely no relation to the staff or gameplay style of the remake announced alongside the DS long, long ago. So, uh, that game doesn't exist, and never did, and was never worked on outside of a paper launch.

But this new FFIII looks way awesomer, so I'm glad to be owned and look forward to playing it! Huzzah!
