FF7 Rebirth launching for PC 1/23/25

ArtHands

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Bought digital deluxe on PS5 at launch, bought the same for PC $50 after taxes on GMG, can't wait to play the best version possible of a great game.

I am wondering if I should buy the digital deluxe edition of this PC game.

If some of the comments coming out of SE are to be believed, Part 3 is going to be multiplatform, simultaneous release. Steam is the largest gaming platform and store on the planet, they're not going to be missing out on that for a 3rd time. There's too much money on the table.

Good chance Sony tied up the whole series when they locked it in initially, I wouldn't expect it multiplatform at launch, they almost got a year exclusivity with Rebirth, more with Remake. I feel like SE's "OMG our exclusive platform games aren't selling 10s of millions any more, multiplatform is the way" applies to the stuff they haven't started development on.

I have a 4070ti super. Remake runs at native 4K 60 fps, but due to it being an unoptimized port, I need a mod to fix stuttering.

A 3080 will probably run the game equally well, but perhaps at 1440p. You need at least 12GB of vram to handle the stutters, mod or no mod, though.

No idea about Rebirth, but unlike Remake, it supports dlss, so that's a plus.

Just make sure to put fps at 120 in Remake's graphics settings in order to disable dynamic resolution - it is a source of heavy stutter.

It easily runs 120fps on 4070ti super in native 4k:

Screenshots say PS5, not PS5 Pro, should be labeled better.

That or they're actually comparing PS5 to PC which is stupid, they should be comparing PS5 Pro - since it's vastly better than PS5.

If it's comparing quality mode of PS5, then no - Pro version doesn't have better graphics.

seems like a color grading change, surely will come to ps5 too.

Look at lighting and shadows

This is absolutely insulting to ps5 players, specially the ones that bought a pro for the game

Pro is already upgraded vs. standard PS5. Adding PSSR pretty much used their graphics performance, if they wanted to make game look better they needed MORE power than what Pro offers.

PC version looking better than console version is quite fucking normal thing.

What about PS5 Pro Versatility Mode?

It's more or less the same as quality? Native 4k with bad TAA vs. PSSR from 1200p.

I saw a whole youtube video comparing Pro to Quality and there was a ton more detail on the hair strands and foliage and everything on the Pro vs Quality. Quality has a lot of issues with blending that aren't in the Pro as well. Basically everything looked more detailed in the video on Pro.

This doesn't change lighting and shadows, biggest difference between images.

I wouldn't know, cuz my TV doesn't get any higher than 60 fps.

Use that spare power for DSR?

On a somewhat unrelated note, I am playing FF15, intent on finishing it. And ho boy ...

I had no idea FFXV was so fucking rushed. I feel like I am playing a game which was 30% completed, then was rushed out of the door. This game must have been in some serious development hell. I thought it would be a 300 hr beast, but holy shit - main story is barely 10 hrs, and that's due to the fucking 'we drive, we sail, we are taking the train, you cannot run while in dungeons' segments.

It's not a BAD game per SE, but it's so fucking incomplete, it's unbelievable!

Ok, so I have purchased the double pack on steam from Green Man Gaming for a bargain price of £51.

My save was on PS, do I just need to create a save in remake to get some good in rebirth or do I need to complete it again? Not sure If I can be bothered doing that.

Yeah, Square wanted that game out the door ASAP and it's clear as day. I've enjoyed for what it was (played it day 1, before you could even control your teammates) but the game had the potential of being something really special. Sadly they didn't have the time to deliver.

I played this game. Cannot say that it is bad, but yeah, it feeled like last part, starting from altissia, when you go to Imperial Capital(or smth) was kinda unfinished, without free roam and so forth. Also they planned to make way more dlcs, about Lunafreya and other characters, but abandoned their plans. Game is not bad, especially in terms of story, but something doesn't seem to be right

I don't remember being that short... granted I did play like half the side quests plus the Episodes from the Royal Edition.

Man, CDKeys has this for $42. Tempted to pre-order, but I can just get it once the quality of the port becomes apparent. Would be a second run through anyways.

You also really should watch at least the anime episodes. I found that they do a good job of fleshing out the companions.

The movie though wasn’t really necessary. And yeah, those tidbits should have been included in the game.

I was so fucking hyped for XV that I "consumed" everything about it. You're right, the anime episodes are cool. Movie is trash thou.

Nah, I modded it to have higher quality textures.

But if a 4070Ti Super can run Remake at native 4K/120 fps, that gives me hope it'll be able to dish out Rebirth at 60 fps.

You should be fine. With DLSS and Frame Gen, you should be able to hit 120FPS.

Stuttering might be an issue though, but that's not really GPU-related, more Unreal Engine 4. Will just have to wait and see.

???

TV refresh rate doesn't limit the frame rate of the game.
Pretty sure it does? I mean, why don't I have 120 fps option on my display option on windows and only goes up to 60 fps?

If your tv only supports up to 60 hz, I don't think it can show 120 fps.

What I am saying is that the screen can't show 120fps but the game can run at whatever fps it can get and take advantage of the input lag provided.

Rebirth is more demanding than Remake is tho... however it should be less than FF16. I guess we don't know the impact of the max detail changes.

It's UE4 so it will run fast on pc by default. But this is about fps, stuttering is another thing entirely.

Rebirth has traversal stutters on PS5...

You can use fast sync (driver), it will render the game in 120 but sync it with 60hz display. It lowers input lag.

No it doesn't. It holds a pretty solid 30/60FPS 99% of the time.

It holds fps but stutters as well from time to time on open world map. Maybe pro version is better in this aspect but it has the same SSD/CPU so it shouldn't.
And this is on vrr screen.

This is ue4 problem on all platforms.

I see it for 42 bucks but I wonder if it’ll drop in price on release day or increase. What a gamble…

FFXV stutters - Always.

Dlss off won't fix it. Or you are talking about XVI?
No no - talking about FFXV. I had heavy stutters in areas like Lestalum. I turned the fps to 120, turned the AA to TAA instead of DLSS and the stutters stopped.

I never got to Leastallum in PC version. I tested FFXV over the yeas on different hardware (cpu, gpus) and it always stutters even in Hammerhead. I don't know how they did this on DX11, haha.

It's already on a prerelease sale offer which ends on release day, you won't get it cheaper until the next summer sale, or maybe if you're lucky spring sale. You can get it even cheaper on GMG right now.

Yeah, I remember once the camera would go to buildings even in Hammerhead the screen would stutter. However, it must be a mix between my config and my 4070 Ti Super bruteforcing it.

This is why I am dreading the Rebirth port. I don't want them to COMPLETELY half-ass it.

I'm not a difficult PC gamer to please.

Just give me 4K/120FPS on my 4090 with or without DLSS, fix the draw distance on the texture pop-in and give me a stutter-free experience and I'll be happy. The rest like the improved lighting and textures is just gravy.

FF7 is currently in the top 20 sellers. Went down a few spots, but still sells.

Still pretty good considering there's a huge Steam sale on right now. I expect it'll slip down over the next couple of weeks and then work it's way back up again as it gets closer to it's release.

Obviously we don't know what sort of numbers it's doing, but the Steam wish list numbers are quite interesting. It's around 33 days to release, and it's already got more followers (20.5k) than FFXVI had when it was 11 days out from release (19.3k).

For comparison, Persona 3 Reload had 23.0k and Metaphor had 23.4k, and those were multi-plat D1 releases that ended up with 45k and 85k CCU's respectively.

If you have a good CPU, you should be good. It's the people with old stuff expecting 60+ fps who might be unhappy. Esp if the better lighting setting is more demanding.
