FF7 Rebirth launching for PC 1/23/25

If Rebirth outsells or has a higher CCU than Remake on Steam, that just proves that the FF userbase has moved from Sony to PC
The FF userbase, or the PS userbase in general?

That said, consoles will never become irrelevant as long as they have such an attractive entry point. Paying 500 bucks to have access to a gaming ecosystem with adequate performance is no small feat, not to mention the console user doesn't have to bother with PSUs/GPUs/overclocking and just wants to play some games asap.

Square is definitely trying to see how the PC market will react to a year-old game - GOTY contender no less - arriving at their doorstep with a price drop. I mean, if you look at the charts right now, it's #5 if you take out the FtP games on the chart on Steam.

That said, Veilguard was also #4 or 5 at some point, and it sold like, 1.5 million copies. Which, for a year late PC port of a game that sold like, 2 million on PS5, that would be HUGE for Rebirth, especially compared to Remake.

Just a tongue-in-cheek comment, I think the post PS2 era SE has really lost its identity and still is struggling to find itself in modern gaming (the HD era really screwed them up bad), to the relevance they had back on the SNES and PS1.

I think Square was beginning to blow its budgets ever since FFX. I must have been like, 24 years old when I played FFX and I was looking at the CG movies and said to myself, 'why waste so much money on those cutscenes?' Even back then it seemed extravagant to me. And in FFXIII they lost their fucking minds. So much CGI - it could've easily been used for a movie.

Thankfully, nowadays graphic(s) (engines) are so good, they literally can make cinema with in-engine visuals.

What are the chances that the combo come back after the release? I haven't played Remake yet and I don't see how I'll get the time to play it during this Holidays season, I got a furball to train :D

If you mean the Twin Pack, I imagine it will still be there. But the price will be different presumably.

Edit: Still there on PSN even.

Perfect! I know I'll play them at some point but if I start Remake now, I'll feel rushed to complete it for Rebirth release. I still have ReFantazio and FFXVI to play anyway, heck even D4 DLC isn't completed. Thanks a lot!

Don't rush - game will need a couple of optimization patches first and you should wait for a mod or two anyways - like stutter fixes and the like. And there's NO way I'll venture in Costa del Sol without micro bikini mods activated for Tifa and Aerith.

Best played on 5090, thanks for beta testing.

This is absolutely insulting to ps5 players, specially the ones that bought a pro for the game

Over dramatic much. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

So is every PC version which has enhanced graphical features over the weaker console an insult to console player base? What's wrong with his personal opinion and making the most out of high end PC specs to deliver minor visual enhancements?

I have a 4090 so this is good news for me, but I feel like the people that bought a PRO deserves better, because in the past, FF7 Intergrade fixed the lighting, textures and other things and there is zero reason for them to not add these improvements at least on the pro version

I bought it on PS5.
I refuse to buy it again on PC.
Part 3 I'm probably going to hold out and buy it on PC.

Pisses me off they won't just release the PC version shortly after the PS5.

I still feel like the amount of people who have a PS5 AND a fast enough PC that it would be better isn't that much.

Figured I'd try the latest patch and the blurriness didn't seem all that bad. Granted I can't tell the difference between the "Performance Sharp" and "Performance Smooth" either.

The one thing I did notice was that forcing 1080p output caused the fonts to look messed up. Not sure if that is because they are still doing the upscaling at 1080p for some reason or there's now problems at 1080p.

I'm actually a bit annoyed here that those of us who already own part 1 of the remake don't get access to the extra discount the double pack grants.

Preordering. Like Remake, I don't plan on touching until the final part is on the horizon (or maybe I'll start soon to space them out somewhat).

Same, to an extent. It's a little easier to gauge in retrospect, but flexes like that were in vogue and helped sell how big the experience was.

I think the opening movie with the Sin attack is iconic, and a lot of what Square did in it would not work so well in-engine: The finer motions, the dynamic pans, the grandeur of the event.

The other movies don't stick to my mind as much, so I'd have to judge them case-by-case.

That's just stupid.

Console gamer pays 400-800 bucks in order to play the plain version of the game.

PC Gamer pays 1K-4K in order to play the superior version of the game.

Game's price should be the same.
Nope. PC gamers pay 1k-4k for a very different and more capable gaming machine while the games are supposed to be the same, but are not.

To be fair, consoles don’t suffer from stutter the same way that PC does. Its not ALWAYS the best experience on PC.
But suffer from everything else while PC stutters get patched almost always.

The PC version is linked to your rig's capabilities. Why should the owner of a 2060 RTX card pay more for the PC version of Street Fighter 6, when it will run worse than the PS5 Pro version? Is that fair for the PC owner of the 2060?

Because he has the option to upgrade his 2060.

And he'll pay a big hefty fee for it. The money you give for your rig is the price you pay for playing those games at better resolutions, options and framerate. They are not given to you for FREE. Why charge the game ON TOP of that?

Because the game is a product. The gaming machine is another. If I pay more for more power, I should pay more for more graphics, etc on a game.

I cast your retarded opinion into the void, I seal it with the magical incantation of Clytus Novilus and forbid it from seeing the light of day.

Imagine, hypothetically, FromSoftware selling Bloodborne and Bloodborne demake both for $60.

Sure fair and not a scam, by whatever your logic is.

What the heck are you even talking about? Who the fuck is selling a retro pixel-junk game for 100 dollars?

Are you trying to fry my brain with retarded takes?

And 'my' logic is the logic game publishers have been selling games for like, two decades now.

Your logic is the one that is not applied, because it is asinine.

Lol. It's just a "extreme" example. Extreme differences should have extreme price differences. Little differences should have little price differences. Need a drawing??

Finally.

Throws PS5 pro in the trash

If some of the comments coming out of SE are to be believed, Part 3 is going to be multiplatform, simultaneous release. Steam is the largest gaming platform and store on the planet, they're not going to be missing out on that for a 3rd time. There's too much money on the table.
