Yeah sure, Ghost of Yotei says Hi.Yep, gimped.
Multiplatformism = gimped games. Especially with anemic hardware like the Switch 2.

Maybe the game will actually target good art design and optimization and not throw a bunch of clutter on screen that results in a vasolined 60fps experience in PS5 this time?Yep, gimped.

How on earth is that copium? Are you denying that the Switch is not significantly less powerful to the point of hampering what a late gen PS5 game could/should be?
When Rebirth came out on PS5 did you guys think it was gimped and with PS4 graphics?Probably going to justify why game has PS4 graphics with this.
Switch 2 is lead platform. It will likely look like FF7 Remake with extra performance/ higher settings. When Rebirth came out on PS5 did you guys think it was gimped and with PS4 graphics?
Maybe not ps4 but like ps4.2...When Rebirth came out on PS5 did you guys think it was gimped and with PS4 graphics?
They say the main team is working on it but that doesn't mean Switch 2 is the lead platform.Switch 2 is lead platform. It will likely look like FF7 Remake with extra performance/ higher settings.
Not sure if SE will add RT / nanite on other platforms. They didn't do that with pc version of Rebirth afaik.
What is Fw?Maybe not ps4 but like ps4.2...
Fw is a real crossgen and look infinitely better.
Forbidden west. They say the main team is working on it but that doesn't mean Switch 2 is the lead platform.
The PS5 version of Part 3 can look like the PS5 version of Rebirth. Both games can run of PS5 and Switch 2.
What is Fw?
That idiotic sentiment is exactly why they will fail. Power isn't going to fix game development, and in fact will hinder it.PS6 and Next Box should come out already cos NSW2 is stealing all the SMOKES
Switch 2 came out this year. They know where the majority of sales will be. Shame it took them this long to figure that out.
And it's already on pace to overtake PS5 in Japan, if it hasn't already. For sure by the time FFVIIR3 comes out.Switch 2 came out this year.
So this confirms Part 3 will be multi-plat launch day 1?

Not only do I not have a Series S, but do you really think they had to do more work on that version versus Switch 2?
I have no idea what I have to do with this, lol.
Yup. With PS5 and XSX we crossed the point where power doesn't matter anymore. The issue is dev tools and dev talent and those tools and talent can't be refined if the solution is to brute force everything with more power. That idiotic sentiment is exactly why they will fail. They've collectively flexed their last hurrah! Now they'll have to try some originality and imagination for once.Yup. With PS5 and XSX we crossed the point where power doesn't matter anymore. Eric Cartman "make it gay!" seems to be their originality and imagination. They've collectively flexed their last hurrah! Now they'll have to try some originality and imagination for once.
It will take years to overtake PS5 in Japan even though Sw2 heavily subsidized thereAnd it's already on pace to overtake PS5 in Japan, if it hasn't already. For sure by the time FFVIIR3 comes out.

Btw, if you have to run a game on sw2, it become automatically the lead platform dude, they can't push stuff that require cpu power like number of enemies on screen, physics etc and then make another version entirely for sw2 that has fundamental differences and ask for the same price, there is a reason why pc games have minimum requisites.
Exactly like the baseline for gta6 is the fucking series s, they can't make a game that doesn't physically run on that shit console, they can lower some settings but they can't make something that cpu\gpu is not powerful enough to run to begin with.
The other versions are just gonna be the sw2 version with all the bells and whistles turned on with higher framerate and resolution and maybe some raytracing sprinkled on, but the core is gonna be a game made for a ps4+ tablet, don't kid yourself thinking otherwise.
Just be thankfull that ff7 is not the type of game that require huge numbers of enemies on screen or major physics or major ai or anything related to a strong cpu, if this was another next-nextgen game this news would be terrible.
Every next-nextgen that has to run on a sw2 is a terrible news for people who care about tech\graphic progress\prowess because they have to develop on a glorified ps4 with the limits of a tablet, almost literally 2 generations behind.
For the Switch owners maybe. But for the ps5 could mean underwhelming graphic. This is super reassuring to hear
It would be funny if it ends up being the case.Even with S issues, i doubt it will be a Wukong situation.
Nah, it will be PS5 first, 99% chance. But I guess the exclusivity period will be shorter. So this confirms Part 3 will be multi-plat launch day 1?
Eh. They already a board to the switch 2 hypetrain and I suspect they think to relaunch the brand on it looking at the underwhelming sales on ps5. For sure part 3 it will sell more but I'm not so sure that switch 2 will help to recover the SE sales high expectations has for the series.Nah, it will be PS5 first, 99% chance. FF Remake series is probably still very attached to Sony funds. Square is just being coherent to their plans by not making the multiplatform support "a mystery".Eh. You are a very naive if you think Square could care anything about the sony fund of the series. All they want it's just sell well and you see how faster they retreat their temporal exclusivity of the IP just for that.FF Remake series is probably still very attached to Sony funds. But 99 is not 100% so it can happen.
I don't care about the exclusivity. I'm going to play the shit out of it that's for sure. I'm just bringing my pov on this. Square probably already re-negotiated the contract with Sony for the new exclusivity period. Might be valid for Japan only, that's why they mention Switch 2, and seem to be already putting low expectations for the Series consoles in this front. You are a very naive if you think Square could care anything about the sony fund of the series. Yeah, this is going to result in a downgraded 3rd game
Downgraded?
Over Rebirth's already atrocious texture?

Bojji
We need that literal 'wall of shit' picture here!
Game looks atrocious in places.
If they make part 3 on the same old as fuck UE4 build then there is no hope... You can throw 40GB of RAM on it and it will still look like shit.
You can take the PS5 version of the game and port down. Hogwarts Legacy, Ace Combat 7 and Witcher 3 all ran on Switch, but Switch was not the lead platform.
It'll be similar with Switch 2.
RE9 is launching on Switch 2 on Day 1, and yet Switch 2 did not automatically become the lead platform. Dynasty Warriors 9 is a game with a huge number of enemies on screen and it looks really good on PS5. The fact that the game can be ported to Switch 2 didn't hold back the PS5 version.
If developers need to take the PS5 version and reduce enemy numbers, change settings, add loading screens etc. to make it run on Switch 2, they can do that.
Exactly. You could get PS4 games running on Switch and it's easier than that to get PS5 games on Switch 2.Yup, I think most PS5 level games could be ported down to the Switch 2. Lower the resolution a lot and use DLSS, lock it to 30fps, reduce to remove RT, tinker with lighting, shadows, textures, polygon counts etc..
There are probably some exceptions which would be GTA6, Some Sony 1st party games.
Heck even the Witcher 3 was ported down onto the Switch 1.
And you have the precedent already set with Rebirth already running on the Steam Deck which is inferior hardware and the game was hardly optimised.Exactly. You could get PS4 games running on Switch and it's easier than that to get PS5 games on Switch 2.
They can change some things but not the core of the game, and the core get dictated by the less powerful machine, there is no way around it.You can take the PS5 version of the game and port down. Hogwarts Legacy, Ace Combat 7 and Witcher 3 all ran on Switch, but Switch was not the lead platform.

So would you say that the core of The Witcher 3 and Hogwarts Legacy was dictated by the Switch? Is Switch 2 dictating the core of RE9?They can change some things but not the core of the game, and the core get dictated by the less powerful machine, there is no way around it.

As much as I would like lightning improvements - I don't think the odd textures hurt, the ones that matter are hi quality - I worry about the many issues we've been seeing with games using UE5.Unfortunately (or fortunately if you look at it another way), they're probably gonna stick to Rebirth's config to have the game be fast-tracked.
I can easily see this releasing around Feb '27.
DIdn't played those games on sw1 so i don't know how much they had to cut to make it run on sw1 but for re9, sw2 is probably the baseline yeah, publishers knew about sw2 specs way before us average joes, they had time to prepare. So would you say that the core of The Witcher 3 and Hogwarts Legacy was dictated by the Switch? Is Switch 2 dictating the core of RE9?
That's a terrible picture, but not what I remember seeing on my tv. I consider Rebirth one of the few "nextgen" looking games (quality mode) and I was impressed a lot of times during my playthrough.we all gonna pretend this represents how rebirth looks for the majority of the game
we all gonna pretend this represents how rebirth looks for the majority of the game
So the logic is that you went out of your way to find a crappy texture somewhere in rebirth, so the whole game is compromised.Majority of the game? No, but the open areas are peppered with low resolution textures, which is undeniable. The indoors are not exempt either.

because game development never has concessions made.
