FFVII: AC is "out"..

Trying to review a movie that starts off nearly directly of a 40 hour story isn't going to going to be merciful to those who don't know FFVII and as such these reviewers won't be merciful to a film that isn't really standalone. Who gives a damn both ways!!

As it being fanfare, I really don't give a damn. Make it do well so I can get my damn remake already!!

I think the critic was talking about the song played at the end/during the credits? It was compared to a cheesy rock love song from the 80's. :lol

Heh, it seems like anything that smacks of the 80's gets branded as 'cheesy' around here anyway. To me, that sounds like a glowing endorsement of the song in question (it suggests that I'd enjoy it, at the very least), and to hell with what that critic thinks. VIVA LA 80's! :p

Back on topic: Can't wait for the official US release of AC. Definitely interested in hearing peoples' early impressions. :)

Today, though, Square-Enix spoke a bit about the song it will use in its CG film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The main song for will be Kyousuke Himuro's 'Calling.' The song is actually about 16 years old; debuted on the 1989 album 'Neo Fasico.' "For the setting of Advent Children, it's very fitting," says Advent Children director Tetsuya Nomura.

If that's the song he was talking about......well it is from the 80's! ^^;

BTW, what's the difference between the limited edition (not the premium) and regular edition of FFVII AC? Just the cover?

And is there any info about the NA DVD? Release dates? Audio tracks? Etc.

Just the cover.

And the only info on the R1 dvd is that it should be out late november. IIRC it will have the Japanese audio track with subs and probably an English dub.

I just finished explaining to my friend via e-mail that you don't need a PSP to watch FF7:AC. He thought it was UMD only and was getting ready to buy FF7:AC AND a new PSP (he sold his previous PSP).

Who knows, maybe FF7:AC will cause a bigger boost in PSP sales than anyone is expecting...

I want impressions from a non FF fan. If somebody with good taste in movies likes it, I will pick it up.

I haven't liked the FF stories at all to date. Too much teenage angst and non sequitirs.

The trailer for the movie actually looks good, but I can't tell anything about how it hangs together as a plot.

I would bet you liking it low then. As for teenage angst, I think Yuffie is the only teenager in the film. Heh, was FFVII like the last time we got to play adults?

Because, you know, translating a 90 min movie only takes what? 90 minutes right? Especially by those 'fansubbers who are decent quality' according to you.

Expect subs within 24 hours but expect them to be utter shit. Any good subs, if there are even such things left in the fansubbing community these days, will be out later in the week.

What the hell? I haven't watched any fansubs in about 6 months now, but I watched a LOT of them for about 4 years, and I saw many groups do very high quality subs, often as good or sometimes better than the domestic releases, in one or two days. There are shit groups, but there are a lot of good ones too. And this has Japanese subs already included. Are you honestly suggesting that there are no good fast groups, and even if there weren't that a half-ass group with existing japanese subs couldn't just translate them within a day or so? :lol :lol :lol

I mean my Japanese isn't even that great, but with Japanese subs even I could do a good translation in a couple of days by myself.

I didn't like FFVII but FFVII: AC is fucking amazing. I just finished watching it and realized I jizzed all over myself 10x :lol Good news, there's no teenage angst bullshit. It's all action. Tifa never looked better. Vincent is badass. The whole crew is pretty damn awesome.

ah dinnae kna tha Barrat wed be nicken ma vest

Haha, nothing like Rab C to erm... something or other.

Anyways, as a non FF fan I would say its pretty dull. I only really play the games for their music and even that was a bit off in places throught the film. Barring perhaps 1 fight scene, you would probably be better of just watching the intro to Devil May Cry 3. Humor was nice if a bit slapstick.

Not a FFVII die hard fan? Probably best not to bother, it's basically for FFVII fans who just can't let go.

oh and
Aeris dies... again
