Fifa 13 - uses Wii U friendslist; better pitch and crowd; missing a few features

Who seriously cares about the crowd? Last thing on my mind when I play FIFA.

I wish they'd have more semi interactive elements round the pitch. The last FIFA i brought was 11 I would love to see managers and the dugout. And players warming up on pitchside.

Have those been implemented yet?

But man, THE CROWDS! It shows the power of the Wii U!

Edit: LOL the crowds still look like stick figures lol! Wow.

DAT SHIRT STAPLED TO THE PANTS.

I can't believe how, after years of generation, everything most devs have managed to do are PS2 tech-level games, just with fancier effects, poly count and resolution. Then some people on GAF wonder why some of us laugh hysterically whenever there's a next-gen talk and people start mentioning "OMG improved physics and AI".

Might just be the compression, but this is the second screenshots thread where to me, it doesn't look too great - for example you can clearly see the blurry names and numbers on the back of the shirts in that first screenshot - it stands out way more than it should, although obviously will be better in motion. The net texture looks quite bad too.

might as well buy this version.

At the very least, it will look on par, but touchscreen is going to be brilliant

Nope!

They sometimes model and do these for the Euro/WC games, but take them out for the regular releases again.

Fucking scumbags.

I said in those screenshots.

Plus it comes out in October at the latest, so they have less than 3 months to polish it up, and that's not even including testing, disc producing and distribution. It's hardly going to improve much from now until release.

October at the latest?

The grass does look pretty nice.

Yes but no one plays the game from such an up close camera. I hate it when they show those up-close unplayable camera angles (which are usually replays or shown when the play is over) to show off the graphics. What does that tell you about the graphics if i have to be in the cut scene to see the nice grass?

Oh man that's a name I haven't heard in a while. Even the old official Nintendo forums banned "s p o n g" back in the day.
Out of interest, why are/were they banned in most places? I don't go to their site so it might be obvious if I did, I don't know.

It's an early port of the console with overwhelming focus on the Gamepad rather than graphics. On top of that, it's a sports game. Who in the hell expects Fifa to dish out amazing visuals? If they cared, they would have added actual clothing to the models a while ago.

Is there a reason MLB The Show is miles ahead of every other sport franchise when it comes to crowds?

Watched a vid of it and holy fuck.

FIFA still stuck in the same shitty texture crowd.

Because they make about 10 unique fans and randomly place them all throughout the stadium.

Well, it's rendering the thing twice. One for the Game Pad and the other one for the TV. You know, new hardware, short dev times, etc.

FIFA 14 will sure look way better than PS360's version.

I fully expect to be amazed at the difference between the Wii U crowd and the two others. I know when I buy a game, nothing impresses me more than the visual quality of the crowd.

They said they doubled the resolution of the crowd for the first person view, when you use the GamePad to see through the eyes of a player on the field. It seems to make a difference in this mode.

Hadn't they done this, you would have looked at a screenshot showing this first person view, and your reaction would have been the same.

LOL at the crowd! LOL Wii U. LOL. Wow.

Lol dude is in every WiiU thread Hating like theres no tomorrow. Let him be it makes him feel better I think.

You two better be joking, really.

Four shadows thanks to multiple reflectors, maybe? At times, they count of shadows can go higher, depending on the number of light sources.
Cloving is definitely joking. Bookerman... ummm...

... his best option would be to pretend he was joking and then insult us for thinking otherwise.

Should have just stuck with his "sure am" response to my "please let this be a joke post" instead of editing it.

Do people seriously believe this?

The game is out in like, 2-3 months.

game is going gold in a month or so... but of course this code is probably old too.

However, if my brain is not playing tricks on me, gameplay graphics look slightly worse than FIFA PS3/360. That controller screen is nice though for various things, but I would have hoped for nicer visuals, something you could notice, like textures, AA, etc, etc... but these pics are not it.

So uh, if Dead Rising 1 and 2 can have shitloads of zombies and fairly complex environments, how come a football game has to resort to 2d cutouts when it comes to the crowd?

Probably more a case of why bother put all that time and attention into it.

Do some of you people just try to troll Wii U in any place that you can?

Do you really care about Fifa at all? Cause if you did, how much better it looks on Wii U [or any other nextgen system] would be quite low on your list of concerns.

Thread title is quite blatanatly trollish/pessimistic as well; I don't know which mod edited that, but I would send a PM to him and ask how s/he forgot to add 'a lot of extra features and modes added' but not 'missing a few features';

The most recently released soccer game I play is over 10 years old. I may just have to give this one a try.

How so? we are always told the last polish on games is made just before they go gold. Looks good to me, they have said the difference is the crowd and grass nothing else it will look pretty much on par with the other console version. I can see me buying this twice just to try out the touch screen stuff.
