A new One Piece fighting game for the PS2..:) Thanks to EvilgamerX/cgoten for posting these scans at Kaizoku forums.

A dumber, younger version of Reed Richards proclaims himself to be a master pirate and he gets some random people together to find a really big treasure while fighting enemies apparently inspired by DBZ and the Xmen.

That's it.

And amazingly it makes for a brilliant comic and cartoon

For a second there I thought you were dissin One Piece. One of the best manga/shows to come out of the land of the rising sun. To bad the american dub sucks worse than Dragonball.

The main character name is Luffy and his dream is to become Pirate King. Throughout his journey, he us accompanied by other pirates and they all set sail to search for the legendary one piece (treasure). FYI: The 4kids production of One Piece is heavily edited though.

Oh, I love the show, mainly because it's one of the few shonen titles where the characters actually develop (and lose fights!) instead of pow-Pow-POWERING UP for three chapters and killing their enemies with one hit.

God, I wish Naruto hadn't strayed down that path...

(And yeah, I dislike 4kids' treatment of the show as well. Too many weird edits and everyone screams their lines for some reason)
 
hmmm, non-SD look is kinda nice on some characters (Eneru, ACE, Zoro, Sanji) while SD looks better for Luffy IMO. Hope the game turns out good though!

Oh and being a traditional 1 on 1 fighter has a lot of potential since almost every anime fighter lately is a 4 player party fighter. Could be good...maybe ^^;

That looks pretty cool. I like that look better than GB's SD look. How are the Grand Battle games anyway? I know one of them is coming to the US in August and I was thinking of getting it.

What happened to the original fighting games? Naruto, Dragonball, One Piece, FotNS and Inuyasha... they're probably fine if you like the anime (I know Naruto is) but there hasn't been a new fighting game in ages.

wow.. someone I actually agree with 100%

agreed, 4kids fucked up one piece. and agreed that naruto headed down the DBZ path "sort of". Naruto is still (well, up to episode 90 where I am) better than DBZ and still has more happening in a typical episode. but yeah, it went from real character development to "let's powerup a lot and unleash"
 
At least Naruto doesn't have the terrible power inflation DBZ has. Some of the battles make the characters improve greatly, but it's more actual learning to improve than just deus-ex "look, now I'm suddenly 10 times stronger for no reason". In Naruto we've known about the kyuubi power since episode one, and we know that even if Naruto uses it occasionally it's not like he'll start going around casually destroying towns eventually.

I've watched One Piece to about 100 eps. Good show. But where has Luffy lose a fight yet? I think he is too mega powerful, and it's not very convincing when he never get into training or practice at ALL.

Maybe you meant other characters? I want Luffy to lose for once. It's not fair just because he ate some strange fruit he never get to practice/train and he's yet the most powerful character in the show. Maybe it'll change after on? Don't get me wrong. Luffy is my favorite character but I just don't want him to win every battle, so far from where I've watched anyway.
 
Oogami, watch 10 (maybe a bit more) episodes ;) I won't spoil it to you, but you'll get what you want.
I have doubts about this game after the Naruto PS2 game... it's just so bad it's unbelievable. And I like Naruto, so it's not because I'm not a fan or anything.
